Feng Yiguang was happy just thinking about how his little girl would sleep in his bed every day.
He didn't wake the little girl; he just sat on the edge of the bed and watched her quietly, thinking that the last time he saw her was five years ago.
His little girl is prettier than before and has grown up, but her temper hasn't changed much; she's still just as prone to anger, and he always has to coax her.
Just thinking about this made him smile unconsciously, a smile full of sweetness.
Tang Baozhu felt a gaze fixed on her in her sleep, which startled her awake. When she opened her eyes, she saw Feng Yi staring at her with a silly grin, like a lovesick fool.
He was completely different from the aloof military man I first saw. He was no longer aloof at all; he looked like he was head over heels in love.
"Feng Yi, why didn't you call me when you came back?"
Feng Yi was a little unhappy about the girl's use of the name "Feng Yi." She used to call him "Brother Yi," so it seemed the girl was still distant from him.
"Why are you being so distant now? Just call me Brother Yi from now on! When I got back, I saw you were sleeping soundly, so I didn't have the heart to disturb you. I thought you must be very tired after coming all the way from the city to this remote suburb, so I wanted you to sleep a little longer."
Tang Baozhu didn't care what he was called. Whether it was Feng Yi or Brother Yi, it made no difference to her; it was just a title. Since he didn't like the name Feng Yi, she would just call him Brother Yi next time.
"What time is it now?"
It felt like it was getting dark outside, so I must have slept really well. I just wonder how long that pervert next to me had been watching me while I was sleeping.
"It's almost time for dinner. How about we go to the cafeteria together? If you don't want the hassle, I'll just get the food and we can eat in the dorm."
Tang Baozhu didn't want to go to the cafeteria. Just thinking about the scene of thousands of people staring at her made her feel embarrassed. Others probably didn't mean anything by it; they were just looking out of curiosity, but she would still feel awkward.
"Go get it back for me, there are too many people in the cafeteria, I won't go."
Feng Yi wasn't surprised. The little girl had always been shy around everyone except him since she was little. He was glad that he had been by her side when she was very young, otherwise she would have been very polite to him.
"Then you rest a little longer, I'll go get you some food."
Seeing that Feng Yi was about to leave, Tang Baozhu quickly stopped him, "Wait a moment before you go to the cafeteria to get your food. Tell me where the toilet is here?"
She hadn't been to the toilet all day, and being in the military, she dared not use her personal space to relieve herself—what if she got caught? So she had to be extra careful.
Feng Yi had also forgotten about this matter. "Then I'll take you there first."
Tang Baozhu was so serious that she almost fell for his act. If it weren't for his bright red ears, she would have been fooled. She found it funny; it was just taking someone to the toilet, what was there to be embarrassed about? He was just too innocent.
After going to the restroom, Tang Baozhu waited for Feng Yi in his dormitory. As for Feng Yi, after dropping the girl off at the dormitory, he quickly grabbed his lunchbox and ran off.
Feng Yi took his lunchbox to the cafeteria. Everyone who knew him knew that his fiancée had come looking for him, and they all teased him, asking why he didn't bring his fiancée out so that everyone could meet her.
They've been training together for five years and no one knew Feng Yi had a fiancée. Now that his fiancée has come to visit, he's actually hiding her in the dormitory, hiding her so well.
They had all heard that Feng Yi's fiancée was exceptionally beautiful, so they were all very curious. They were inevitably disappointed that they didn't see her in person.
"When we come back next time, we'll get our marriage certificate and treat you to wedding candy. You'll get to see as much as you want then."
Feng Yi simply lacked a sense of security, so he had to first bring the person into his bowl before he felt comfortable letting her out.
Tang Baozhu had no idea what he was thinking, but even if she did, she wouldn't care. She was just a passerby doing a mission, and besides, she wasn't someone who particularly liked to travel. She wouldn't mind staying at home every day. There were plenty of things to do in the space to pass the time, and there was also a red envelope group where she could chat and kill time.
When Feng Yi saw that there was meat in the dinner, he quickly got a portion. When she was little, the little girl especially loved to eat meat. He wondered if she still liked it now.
After getting the food, I went straight back to the dormitory. I couldn't keep the girl waiting too long. When I got back to the dormitory, Tang Baozhu was sitting on the bed, bored and lost in thought.
"Baozhu, are you hungry? Come and eat. There's meat in the cafeteria today. I remember you used to love it when you were little. I don't know if you still like it now. Even if you don't, it's okay. I also got some other dishes."
Worried that the little girl might go hungry, he quickly sewed some food and placed it on the table. He opened the box and hurriedly put away the book on the table. Everything else was fine, but the little girl's photo inside made him a little embarrassed.
"I'm not a picky eater now, and I'm not a child anymore."
Tang Baozhu didn't mean anything by saying this; it was just a very ordinary remark.
But to Feng Yi, it sounded like the girl must have been mistreated in the inner quarters. The girl who used to be so picky about food was now not picky at all.
If she hadn't suffered so much injustice and been disliked in the inner quarters, why wouldn't she even dare to be picky about food? It broke his heart.
His expression, as if he had wronged her, made Tang Baozhu uncomfortable. In fact, neither she nor the original girl had been wronged. The original girl was just feeling resentful and melancholic all the time, but she hadn't been deprived of anything in terms of her livelihood.
Hurry up and eat. She didn't know what to say. Since he felt wronged, then he should just accept it.
After dinner, Feng Yi fetched hot water to wash her feet. If Tang Baozhu hadn't been unwilling, he would have liked to wash them for her himself.
"Baozhu, you can sleep in my dorm tonight. I'll squeeze into someone else's place for the night. We'll go back to the city tomorrow morning. Won't you be scared sleeping here alone tonight?"
"No, I'll lock the door from the inside in a bit, don't worry."
It's as if they'd sleep with you if you were scared; you can imagine how strict their discipline is. It's all for nothing.
Feng Yi knew perfectly well that it was safe here, but he was reluctant to leave until he could not linger any longer, lest it damage the young girl's reputation, before he finally left.
