Hong Feng and her special operations team had changed into Su Feng's base uniforms, wrapped themselves in thick snow suits, and put on goggles. From the outside, they were virtually indistinguishable from the R base personnel Su Feng had summoned. In addition, they deliberately arrived late, sneaking into the vicinity of P base in the dead of night. Su Feng was too arrogant and did not notice anything amiss.
They successfully switched the supplies, taking away the materials that the seven bases were sending to P base, filling thirteen trucks in total.
Shortly after leaving Base P, they unloaded all the cargo onto other vehicles at a nearby shelter, and the two convoys quickly separated again, heading in different directions.
Under the cover of darkness, the decoy convoy lured away all the tails. Except for Chen Zhe's convoy, which did not pursue them but instead went to Dawn, everything else proceeded according to plan.
Just as they were about to reach the storage point near the border, a dark cloud drifted in from the opposite direction.
It looked similar to the other clouds in the sky, but it was lower.
There were some roars of zombies around, but gradually, as the dark cloud drifted by, all that could be heard was the sound of the convoy driving on the highway; even the wind stopped.
The moon is dim; the night is eerily dark tonight.
The highway they passed was shrouded in darkness, except for the barren trees and the faint reflections of lights from the icicles on the road.
"Red Team, I feel like something's not right..." the driver asked in a low voice.
Hongfeng frowned and leaned out of the car window to look at the slowly moving "dark clouds" in the sky. The large "dark clouds" looked thinner than the others and were very close to the ground. Suddenly, she noticed a flash of red light in the "dark clouds".
Those were blood-red eyes!
Suddenly, a gust of wind blew, and the "dark cloud" parted slightly as it passed the convoy, allowing the convoy below to see its true form.
That wasn't a "dark cloud," it was a huge flock of black zombie birds!
"Caw! Caw!" The zombie birds seemed to know that there was no point in hiding anymore, so they stopped being silent. There were also crows and large eagles inside, densely packed, tens of thousands of them.
After their apocalyptic mutation, they are ten times their original size, with incredibly sharp claws and beaks that can cut through iron like mud. Their red and white eyes are so large that if they all pounce on you, Red Phoenix has no confidence that she can escape unscathed.
The other team members who saw the zombie bird flock also turned slightly pale.
The best option is to keep to ourselves and not interfere with each other.
Hongfeng sat back in the passenger seat and used the communicator to notify the cars in front and behind, "Zombie birds are flying overhead. All team members, prepare for combat. Do not make any rash moves. Close all the windows."
Following Hongfeng's words, the rest of the convoy closed their car windows and stepped on the gas.
They remained tense for over a minute before finally managing to leave the large flock of zombie birds.
The special operations team members felt like they had survived a catastrophe. Five years into the apocalypse, this was the first time they had ever seen such a large number of zombie birds. Fortunately, they were just passing by, otherwise they would have been in serious trouble.
Just as the other team members breathed a sigh of relief, Hongfeng suddenly thought of another problem. She opened the window and looked at the departing flock of zombie birds, and the strange feeling in her heart grew stronger and stronger.
They flew towards... Dawn Base!
Oops!
Hongfeng immediately contacted the Chenxi base, but she was still worried. After delivering thirteen truckloads of goods, Hongfeng immediately led half of her people back to Chenxi.
Here at the Dawn Base.
The news of the destruction of Base K brought a sigh of relief to everyone at Dawn Base who knew the truth about the "healing water".
However, not long after contacting Xia Yixin, the zombies that had been behaving themselves around T City seemed to have been stimulated and began to growl. The corrosive Tier 5 mini-boss that had submitted to Xia Yixin was also pacing restlessly between the buildings.
Hong Meng was the captain in charge of security at Chenxi. He immediately sensed something was wrong and ordered the emergency mode to be activated. All base residents were to enter the underground air-raid shelter, which contained sufficient supplies. It was a place that Xia Yixin had set up as a precaution. Hong Meng felt that it was better to report a false alarm tonight than to let anything happen to the base residents.
The remaining teams of superhumans in the base were all on duty, standing guard in all four directions of the base.
The base residents had already heard the strange noises outside and entered the underground air-raid shelter in an orderly manner, bringing the entire Dawn Base into its most tense period since its establishment.
Just after Hongmeng received a warning from the flock of Red Phoenix zombie birds.
In the darkness, a low growl of a zombie suddenly rang out from outside the city. The corrosive level 5 zombies in T City immediately responded to the growl and rushed out.
The two figures were locked in a fierce battle on the outer ring road outside the city, causing numerous buildings to be destroyed with a deafening roar.
"Captain Meng, it's an outsider, a Tier 5 Strength-type zombie. He's already engaged with a Corrosive Zombie. It seems to be a battle between zombie mini-bosses over territory. Should we intervene?" the outpost asked.
Hearing the commotion outside, Hong Meng was about to order an intervention when a cry of alarm came from the outpost: "Captain Meng, it's too late! That power-type zombie has already won!"
They never expected the level 5 strength zombie to win so quickly.
As the zombie mini-bosses in the city changed, the zombies throughout the city roared as if they had been injected with chicken blood. Although Xia Yixin had driven away most of the zombies before, there were still thousands of zombies left.
Knowing there was no time to lose, Hong Meng immediately ordered, "Turn on all the city wall lights. All superpowered teams, take your weapons and get to the city walls, ready for battle at any moment! Issue a level one alert!"
