Apocalypse: The Zombie Queen is Super Fierce (58)

After a simple breakfast.

Xia Yixin used the communicator in the car to contact the Dawn Base and told them about the situation with the fake Dawn. Hong Feng on the other end of the communicator was furious, but Xia Yixin calmed her down.

“I’ve dealt with the person now. The most important thing is to prevent this kind of situation from happening again. This was something I didn’t think through before. Our Dawn Base is now pretty much stable, and it’s time to make a public statement like other bases. At least we need an official one.”

They hadn't done it before because they were afraid that if too many people came, some might sneak in. Now that the K base is gone and Su Feng is too busy to take care of himself, they don't need to be so timid anymore.

Xia Yixin paused for a moment, then continued, "We can also take this opportunity to advertise the virus vaccine. Now, it's almost time for the seven major bases to go back."

"Okay, I understand." After saying this in a serious tone, Hongfeng changed the subject, "By the way, Captain Xia, you said you found Commander Lu's possible location during our last call. Have you found him yet?"

"We found it, but... it was a bit unexpected."

"An accident!? What happened?"

Under Hongfeng's persistent questioning, Xia Yixin recounted, incompletely, her encounter with Lu Yan and his amnesia.

Hongfeng pondered for a moment on the other end of the communicator, then said with concern, "Captain Xia, Commander Lu's situation isn't a problem, but I have a feeling the whole thing isn't that simple."

Xia Yixin had previously mentioned to Hongfeng that the sudden appearance of the psychic was indeed abnormal; he or she had used Lu Yan and then abandoned him.

"No matter what, let's take it one step at a time. Finding him is already a huge step forward." Xia Yixin sighed softly, then changed the subject, "How's Chenxi doing these days? How many orders for the virus vaccine have been fulfilled?"

She chatted with Hongfeng for a while longer before hanging up the communicator, then pushed open the car door and jumped out.

It was already completely bright outside.

Near this small supermarket, there's a small restaurant where teenagers, having just finished their meal, are sprawled out and asleep in the booths.

Besides guarding, Zhang San and his team were also making the most of their time to catch up on sleep, as they wanted to return to P base as quickly as possible after setting off.

Xia Yixin looked around but couldn't find Lu Yan, who was originally standing next to their jeep. Instead, she sensed someone approaching from behind.

It was Chen Zhe who also used car electricity to connect with the communication device and the P base.

He seemed surprised by her quick reaction, and awkwardly withdrew his hand that had been about to pat her shoulder.

Xia Yixin didn't seem to care. She glanced at the lonely tollbooth in the distance and asked, "After this tollbooth, we'll be in Beihai, right? Do you want to go back in one go?"

Chen Zhe nodded. "That's right. It's at least another 8 hours' drive. If we're lucky, we can get there before dark."

He paused, then asked, "Do you really have to go back immediately? The blizzard might arrive in the next day or two. You could stay at the P base for a few days first."

"No, thank you." Xia Yixin shook her head. Although she heard the system notification that her happiness level had decreased, she said earnestly, "Lord Chen, I have always owed you a thank you. Consider this matter of the pseudo-Dawn Base as something I owe you."

Chen Zhe laughed self-deprecatingly, "I didn't help you with anything. I couldn't help you with anything about the exchange."

"No. As long as you are sincere, you are Chenxi's friend, my friend. Thank you. We will have a long cooperation ahead of us."

It was early morning when the sun shone on the waist-high snow that had just fallen the night before. People outside were breathing out white mist. Everyone was wearing thick winter clothes and hats. She was wearing a white snowsuit and a hat, wrapped up tightly. Her large phoenix eyes had ice crystals on her eyelashes, and her nose was slightly red from the cold, making her look slender and delicate.

This made his possessiveness grow stronger and stronger.

But her words were official and distant, and as he struggled with his reason and emotions, someone quickly pulled her close.

Lu Yan raised an eyebrow. "Does City Lord Chen have something to discuss with my wife?"

Xia Yixin sensed tension and looked up to ease the atmosphere. She was slightly taken aback when she saw Lu Yan's appearance. Lu Yan had shaved his beard and cut his hair short.

It turned out that Lu Yan had gone to the bathroom to clean himself up. Now, Lu Yan had shaved off his beard and looked much cleaner and fresher.

His already handsome face exuded a pure, wild hormonal aura, and his golden eyes held a childlike pride that made her roll her eyes at him and break free from his grasp.

"Lord Chen, why don't we go inside and talk now? It's cold outside."

Chen Zhe nodded, silently turned around and went back to his teammates, but felt a little depressed. Was he really too late?

After Chen Zhe left, Xia Yixin and Lu Yan returned indoors, leaving the manager's office to them alone. No one in their right mind would go near them and watch them being lovey-dovey.

Once inside, she asked curiously, "Why did you decide to shave your beard?"

Lu Yan closed the door and whispered something mysteriously in her ear.

Xia Yixin's face turned red instantly, and she nudged him with her elbow, saying, "What kind of things are you thinking about?"

Lu Yan didn't feel embarrassed at all. Instead, he calmly glanced at a figure that could be seen from the manager's office observation window.

"His thoughts are not much different from mine."

Chen Zhe was talking to his teammates outside.

Xia Yixin sensed the jealousy in his words and said with a smile, "What are you doing... Hey!"

Before she could finish speaking, he suddenly tightened the drawstring of her hat, which made Xia Yixin angrily punch him, but unfortunately, the kitten's paw was quickly caught.

"Go get some sleep. We'll leave in three hours. Aren't you going to take me home?"

A warmth filled her heart, and she stopped arguing with him, nodding, "Yes, let's go home."

Everyone got a good rest.

Unfortunately, plans can't keep up with changes—the world has changed.

The early arrival of the blizzard disrupted Xia Yixin's original plans, so she had no choice but to temporarily take Lu Yan and Chen Zhe to the P base.

However, as they drove, Xia Yixin spotted several crows standing inside buildings amidst the increasingly dense snowflakes.

This brought her back to her senses from the excitement of seeing Lu Yan. She had almost forgotten that Lu Yan might also have some memories of that mental power user.

However, since there were people all around them, it wasn't very convenient for them, so she decided to wait until they entered the P base before making a decision.

Before nightfall, the convoy finally arrived outside the P base. As expected, the blizzard arrived. The originally fluttering snowflakes suddenly became aggressive, and the howling wind sounded like ghosts wailing and wolves howling, making the world dark.

P Base was originally the largest official team training ground in the north, hidden deep in the mountains and forests. The tall pine trees outside swayed slightly under the impact of the blizzard. If the vehicles hadn't been equipped with protective measures, they might have been overturned.

The outer wall of P base is located deep in the forest. The reinforced concrete wall is more than ten meters high and is equipped with defensive weapons, just like the Dawn base.

After passing through security, the convoy officially entered the base's inner walls.
