Before his betrayal, Shen Shaoyang had approached this fat man, but he was a coward who feared death. Unexpectedly, he turned against the emperor as soon as he ascended the throne.
Shen Shaoyang tried his best to lower his head, but Sun Hou still saw through his lie.
"Hey, isn't this Young Master Shen, the little tyrant of Beijing? What's gotten into you? Hahaha!"
The veins on Shen Shaoyang's hand, gripping the sword hilt, were bulging.
"Protect our master!" one of Shen Shaoyang's guards roared, drawing his hidden knife and lunging at Sun Hou.
Crash!
The teapot and teacups were smashed to pieces, and the stools and tables were overturned. The teahouse owner was so frightened that he hid in a small corner.
Although Shen Shaoyang's soldiers were all seasoned veterans, Sun Hou's blustering soldiers were no match for them. In the blink of an eye, half of them fell.
Sun Hou was so frightened that he spurred his horse backward and shouted to those around him.
"Quick! What are you waiting for? Shoot the arrow! Shoot the arrow! Kill him!!"
Dozens of soldiers with bows and arrows suddenly stood up on the high ground on both sides and fired a barrage of arrows at Shen Shaoyang.
The place was concave, and Shen Shaoyang was right in the center. He knew he was in trouble and swung his sword to block the rain of arrows, but he couldn't hold out for long.
Seeing the guards fall one by one, Shen Shaoyang became furious. He kicked up the overturned table, flipped over, and kicked it towards the high ground.
Peng!
As the octagonal table exploded, several soldiers who had been hit screamed and rolled down, finally creating a gap in the blockade wall.
Shen Shaoyang leaped onto his horse in one swift motion and shouted, "Giddy up!"
With the neighing of horses, taking advantage of the lull in the arrow rain, Shen Shaoyang led the remaining three or four guards out through the gap.
Seeing Shen Shaoyang escape, Sun Hou jumped up and down in anger, yelling, "Chase him! Chase him! If he gets away, none of you will escape today!"
Close combat turned into a chase.
Dust swirls above the pipes in the twilight.
First, a group of slightly disheveled men rode forward on horseback. Shen Shaoyang was in particularly bad shape. He had been shot in the arm by a hail of arrows, and now he was holding the reins with one hand. His wound had reopened, and half of his body was stained red with blood.
His guards were all injured and in a sorry state.
Meanwhile, Lord Sun's men, who were relentlessly pursuing Shen Shaoyang, were all clad in black armor, with the riders at the front occasionally tightening their bows and firing arrows.
So after a short while of fleeing, Shen Shaoyang was left all alone, and he had even accidentally lost his sword during the escape.
Not far away was a dense forest, and the pipeline was about to end. If they entered the dense forest, Shen Shaoyang wasn't confident he could outrun the person behind him.
With a heavy heart, Shen Shaoyang turned his horse around, preparing for a desperate counterattack. He believed that if he could seize the spear from the man in front of him, he would have a chance to survive.
Sun Hou lagged far behind, watching Shen Shaoyang's disheveled state, and laughed triumphantly, "Stop! I want to see what this stray dog is up to with his bare hands! Hahaha!"
The two sides faced each other across a dozen meters on the wide pipe.
It was the hottest time of day, and Shen Shaoyang was drenched in cold sweat. He was confident in his martial arts skills, but he still felt he had little chance of winning against so many soldiers with his bare hands.
Just then, a discordant clattering of horseshoes—no, donkey hooves—behind Shen Shaoyang drew everyone's attention.
Sun Hou first spotted the donkey and, thinking it was some ignorant country bumpkin, angrily shouted, "Get this ignorant fool out of here right now! Can't you see I'm killing someone? Get out of here!"
Sun Hou's roar and the soldiers' murderous aura did not slow down the man's speed on his donkey.
When "he" finally emerged, Sun Hou was first awestruck by "his" imposing presence and the sharpness of the spear made of some unknown material, but then he was amused by the incongruous donkey.
"Hahahahahaha!" Sun Hou laughed uncontrollably, and his soldiers joined in the mockery.
Shen Shaoyang was covered in cold sweat. He didn't know who this man was, but he was shocked to see that the man had actually ridden a donkey that was completely disproportionate to his height in front of him. Who was this man?
Sun Hou laughed so hard his fat flesh jiggled, and seeing him standing with his spear across his body, he laughed even harder. "Shen Shaoyang, this is the reinforcement you invited? Hahahaha! Riding a donkey, hahahaha..."
Sun Hou's smile vanished, and he roared, "Kill them all!"
At a command, more than fifty black-armored soldiers on Sun Hou's side roared and drew their long swords, spears, and lances, charging towards the two opposite them.
Shen Shaoyang subconsciously tightened the reins, only to see the man in front move first—no, it should be the donkey that moved.
The galloping warhorse did not frighten the little donkey at all; it brayed and charged forward with astonishing speed.
Just as the donkey was about to collide with the horse charging at the front, the person on the donkey slapped its body, and it soared into the air.
One shot, and both man and horse were pierced through!
Shen Shaoyang was so shocked that he got goosebumps all over his body.
At this moment, in Xia Yixin's eyes, everyone's movements were in slow motion, even the horses. After she swiftly kicked a soldier away and seized the warhorse, she saw that the little donkey had safely run to the side, and then she went on a killing spree without any worries.
Sun Hou watched helplessly as his fifty-odd cavalrymen were harvested and killed by the enemy like wheat.
He was so frightened that he stepped back, turned his horse around, and shouted, "Stop him for me! Quickly! Quickly!"
No sooner had Sun Hou finished speaking than a scream came from behind him from his personal guards. The next second, a sharp blade, still dripping blood, was pressed against the back of his neck.
"You were the one who just mentioned me, right?"
Sun Hou was completely terrified. This man had been gone for less than half a cup of tea's time since he came out, yet he had acted like a god of death.
