The riverbed was very shallow, less than half a person's height.
Xia Yixin broke free from his hand in the water and tried to escape in a disheveled state, but he only tightened his grip, and the two of them ended up with their clothes completely soaked in the struggle.
The water only reached halfway up their bodies; the water was icy cold, but his body was burning hot.
He hugged her tightly from behind, finally unable to control his emotions, and said in a hoarse voice.
"Madam, I miss you."
Chu Mubai's deep voice contained no anger, only an overwhelming affection and longing.
Xia Yixin's heart skipped a beat. Looking at her reflection in the river, she knew there was no way to hide.
He pounded the water in dejection, and said defiantly, "Ha, that sounds nice. Isn't Lord Chu going back to get married soon?"
Thinking of the elegant woman from that day, her heart ached.
To her surprise, the man showed no panic whatsoever; instead, he chuckled softly.
The more he laughed, the angrier she became. She turned her head and glared at him, "Chu Mubai, you!"
Before she could finish speaking, he silenced her with a kiss.
With his lips.
Xia Yixin was stunned. In her memory, this was the first kiss between the two of them, but it always felt familiar.
In a daze, she seemed to hear the sound of falling snow, as if on a quiet, snowy morning, she had once kissed him.
She unconsciously closed her eyes and began to respond to him.
After his initial surprise, Chu Mubai was overcome with excitement and pressed her head down forcefully, deepening the kiss.
That captivating fragrance stirred a resonance deep within his memory, and a voice kept reminding him that she was his!
Like that night, it was a long-awaited reunion, a reunion after loss.
He is someone who can ignite all his greedy desires and drive him mad.
What started as a tentative kiss quickly escalated into something uncontrollable. The coolness of the river couldn't conceal his increasingly burning desire, but his reason still made him release Xia Yixin's lips when he heard the faint, almost imperceptible footsteps.
Xia Yixin's lips were swollen, and it took her a long time to catch her breath. When she looked up, she met a pair of incredibly deep eyes.
He smiled and said softly, "Madam, Mu Bai has always belonged to you alone."
The deep affection in his eyes was almost sickeningly sweet, and his husky voice was incredibly sexy, making Xia Yi's heart itch with desire.
It wasn't until a gust of cold wind successfully brought her back to her senses.
She steeled herself and pushed him away, running ashore to glare at him warningly, "Don't you dare reveal my identity!"
Not daring to look at him, Xia Yixin mounted her horse and rode off, as if afraid that if she was a step too slow, she would be eaten.
They ran wildly all the way.
The stronger the wind blew, the redder her face became, and the faster her heart beat; nothing could calm her restless heart.
Chu Mubai watched her flee in panic but didn't rush to chase after her. He wiped the smile off his face and went ashore as well. Not long after he walked out, he indeed saw the soldier who had been knocked unconscious by Leng Zhan, who was guarding in the shadows.
"Master, this person probably followed you out of curiosity. What are your plans?" Leng Zhan asked respectfully.
If someone is missing from the team, it might arouse suspicion.
Looking at the person's position from where he had just been, and considering the situation just now, Chu Mubai guessed that the person had only seen Xia Yixin's back. With his body as a cover, he probably didn't see much.
After Chu Mubai dismissed Leng Zhan, he released the pressure points on the soldier's body. Just as he had expected, the soldier hurriedly blurted out, "Lord Chu, I will absolutely not tell anyone about your affair with General Yan!"
Upon hearing this, Chu Mubai's lips curled slightly. Perhaps he could make use of it?
On the other side.
After she finally composed herself and returned to the military camp in the manner of Yan Jiu, she went straight to her own tent.
No one else in the military camp noticed anything amiss.
Not long after, it was said that Chu Mubai had also returned, bringing with him a soldier who had accidentally fallen into a trap.
She suppressed her guilt and interacted with Chu Mubai, but when night fell, she panicked the moment she saw the person who had entered the tent with her.
"Get out!" Xia Yixin glared at the man who entered.
"Madam, I just want to apologize." Chu Mubai tempted, "It was Mubai's fault just now. Please wait a moment, Madam. I'll go boil water for you to bathe. I'll stand guard outside the tent and I promise I won't come in, okay?"
Xia Yi's wariness of him weakened, and she eventually succumbed to his deep gaze.
Oh well, since he already knows, she might as well just go for it.
Chu Mubai was very enthusiastic in serving his wife. Before long, the wooden tub and hot water were brought over. Xia Yixin was shocked. When did their team get these things?
Chu Mubai seemed to have guessed what she was thinking and replied, "It was given to us by Murong Xun before we left. This wooden tub looks simple, but it is actually made of the finest medicinal wood. Soaking in it can prolong life."
Xia Yixin sniffed it with some skepticism, and sure enough, she smelled a special medicinal aroma.
Murong Xun also apologized and offered many other things, such as warhorses, which would be sent later.
She hadn't taken a hot bath in a long time and couldn't bear to say anything cold to him, so she could only kick him out for the time being.
The moon was exceptionally bright tonight. Outside the tent, all was quiet except for the torches flickering in the wind.
The man's jade-like figure was reflected on the tent, and even a shadow revealed his refined and otherworldly aura.
This interaction between the two was nothing short of "fantasy" for the soldiers of the Bear and Tiger Division, especially after seeing Chu Mubai actually chop wood and boil water himself—good heavens...
They must have been so exhausted that they were hallucinating; the soldiers who saw this quickly went back to their tents to sleep.
Inside the tent, snoring filled the air; most of the soldiers were already fast asleep.
Xia Yixin finished washing up and changing her clothes, feeling completely relaxed. Not forgetting to revert to Yan Jiu's demeanor, she coughed lightly and said, "All done."
