After the eight enforcers stormed in, Xia Yixin noticed that behind them was a young man in a white uniform.
He walked over with a face full of apology.
"I'm sorry, Dr. Xia. We came here as soon as we detected your location because of the urgent mission. I apologize for startling you." The man was fairly good-looking, but he had a sleazy air about him.
When Xia Yixin saw his face, she tentatively called out, "Wang Cheng?"
Wang Cheng was slightly taken aback, and looked at her with amusement. "I really didn't expect that Dr. Xia would still remember the name of my classmate."
Xia Yixin is now quite calm about seeing "familiar yet unfamiliar" people from time to time, but she keenly noticed that the Wang Cheng in front of her was not the same as the "Wang Cheng" in her memory. Although he looked like a scoundrel, he was not evil.
Wang Cheng certainly wasn't just there to reminisce.
He waved his hand, signaling the executors to make way, and his smile faded. "Dr. Xia, please come with us. The Commander-in-Chief requests your presence."
Commander-in-Chief?
Xia Yixin's mind flashed to an image of a kind and gentle old man with white hair and beard.
And it was someone he knew.
In another dimension, he was also once known as "Grandpa Xia".
According to her memory, three years ago, it was this same old man who made the final decision to let her laboratory begin this experiment.
Perhaps he, like Li Rui, knew about the experimental system, which is why he wanted to see her.
Xia Yixin was unaware that the current leader was no longer the one she thought he was. Three years ago, during the leadership transition, a younger man had taken the position.
Unaware of the situation, Xia Yixin followed them onto PO's hovercar.
Although there were still two executors in the front seat, Wang Cheng couldn't stop talking about what happened at the Alliance University.
Just like in normal human society, everyone here, whether they are A or B grade gene individuals, needs to go to school. The only difference is the location of the school. The Alliance University is the highest-level institution of learning. Before coming to RSM, Xia Yixin graduated from there and is the only B grade gene individual to graduate in the last hundred years.
Most people with Grade B genes drop out of high school in Zone B.
Knowledge monopoly is also a powerful means of class division in the Allied powers.
Moreover, this sense of class distinction became even clearer when Xia Yixin followed Wang Cheng off the hovercar and into the Allied Consulate General's residence.
It was already past midnight outside, and the white three-story building was heavily guarded.
All the A-level gene users looked at her with curiosity and a slightly condescending gaze, and she could even vaguely hear whispers of discussion.
"Is that the only female B-grade gene user doctor at RSM that we mentioned before? Tsk, she's not even that good-looking. What does the Commander mean by seeing her so late?"
"Who knows what this means? I was just lying in bed perfectly fine when this little B-level gene user woke me up. I thought it was some big mission."
...
Disdain and arrogance are common traits among A-level gene inheritors in the Allied Nation.
With such a class-divided and antagonistic alliance, Xia Yixin could easily guess that it would collapse sooner or later, and the crisis that arose from this genetic optimization was probably just the tip of the iceberg.
Just as she followed Wang Cheng into a huge conference room with her nerves on edge, she was informed that "the commander-in-chief has just received a message from the interstellar department and must leave immediately."
So Xia Yixin was assigned to a white bedroom that was similar to the one she had stayed in before.
Perhaps it was out of trust in the two memories of "Grandpa Xia".
After searching and fumbling all night, Xia Yixin was really tired. After replying to Li Rui's worried message on her bracelet, she decided to make the best of it and fell asleep on the bed without realizing it.
Her every move was also monitored in real time and sent to someone else.
RSM's senior management respectfully reported the research results to the other end of the newsletter: "Chief, she is indeed very intelligent. We still cannot break through the System V she designed, so we cannot obtain operating access to the experimental system. We can only force entry by cutting off the power. However, according to our current observations, she also has the defects of being a B-level gene user. She can't distinguish between illusion and reality now."
A mocking laugh quickly came from the other end of the communicator: "Isn't this the result you wanted to see?"
Faced with such a question, the high-ranking official was speechless for a moment before finally saying in a high-sounding tone, "Commander-in-Chief, this is also for the future of the Allied Powers."
Over the years, it may seem that the leader is in control of everything, but in reality, a person's ability is always limited.
The Allied nations were far from being as peaceful as they appeared.
Li Rui and the others all knew about Xia Yixin being taken away by the executioners early in the morning.
In her anxiety, unable to contact Xia Yixin, she hurriedly took Hongfeng and Chen Zhe to the Consul General's residence, hoping to see Xia Yixin.
They were not stopped, but instead led to a conference room. Suddenly, an announcement appeared on the electronic displays on both sides of the corridor that the leader had found a genetic match, along with the time and place of the wedding.
To their shock, the photo of the genetic match was actually Xia Yixin!
"How is this possible?! How could an A-level gene donor be a B-level gene donor like us?!" Hong Feng couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.
Although Hongfeng is still small, she has fiery red hair and a very lively personality.
"It's just theoretically impossible." Chen Zhe replied. He wore black-rimmed glasses and had quite a bit of muscle, but if Xia Yixin were there, she would definitely see that he and the Chen Zhe from the post-apocalyptic world were basically two different people, except for their appearance. Moreover, his gaze towards Hong Feng was deep. He was also an A-level gene user, while Hong Feng was a B-level one.
