Lu Yuan's injuries were not minor; there were still a few slight marks on his handsome face. After all, he had fought against a pure machine mech, which had no sense of pain, but humans did. If Lu Yuan's mech "Judge" hadn't been tough enough, Lu Yuan wouldn't just have two broken ribs and a dozen bruises on his body. Moreover, whether it was Wang Cheng's imagination or not, Lu Yuan's white uniform looked like it had been hastily put on, which was quite different from his usual meticulous image.
Wang Cheng's premonition was indeed correct. When he learned that Xia Yixin had come out of the experimental system, Lu Yuan had just finished bandaging himself in the treatment room. He hurriedly put on his clothes and came over with her. What annoyed him was that the woman didn't even glance at him once along the way, not even saying a word. Her mind was entirely on V.
This made Lu Yuan wonder what she had seen in the experimental system.
But now, with the pain and anger simmering over him, Lu Yuan realized how childish he had been after scaring away a group of people with his cold aura. He gradually regained his composure and stared at the woman who was looking into the black prison through the one-way glass.
Just as he was about to speak, the woman opposite him finally turned around and glanced at him, but what annoyed him even more was that she made a request.
"Lu Yuan, I'd like to speak with him alone, is that alright?"
Lu Yuan looked at the mechs standing inside the black prison. For some reason, even though the mechs couldn't make any expressions, he felt mocked. Countless voices and reasons in his heart told him to say no, but he still gave in when he met Xia Yixin's slightly pleading gaze.
Apart from him, all the executors, including Wang Cheng, withdrew from the observation room outside the special prison, except for Lu Yuan.
Xia Yixin wasn't actually unaware of Lu Yuan's situation. On the way to the consultation room, the executor who was guiding them had already told her about the battle between Lu Yuan and V a few hours earlier. His words were filled with barely suppressed admiration. However, Xia Yixin's focus was on why V had so openly barged into the building.
If he really wanted to harm her, there were smarter ways, including hacking into the safe house's system again.
This all looks like... it was intentional.
In addition, with the videos she saw in the experimental system, she didn't have the energy to think about Lu Yuan for the time being.
After everyone was cleared out.
The towering black mech in the black prison was utterly cold. It was hard to believe that just a few days ago, it was the invisible V. Now, it was standing right in front of her. Was it really all this trouble just to gain freedom?
Xia Yixin pressed the communication buttons on both sides, wanting to ask something, but the "why" stuck in her throat and turned into a calm question: "Li Rui, Hong Feng, and Chen Zhe, why did you take them away?"
This is the point she can't understand the most.
On the way here, she learned from Lu Yuan about finding the remains, but instinctively she didn't want to believe that they had died so hastily.
She didn't have to wait long before a familiar mechanical male voice came from the other end of the communicator: "If they stay, they will become a burden to you, Master. Killing them is the simplest solution."
Xia Yixin's pupils contracted, her anger only making her calmer. "From the moment I woke up until now, you've been deceiving me all along. Why?"
The tall, black mecha suddenly moved, walking step by step toward the one-way glass. Although it couldn't see Xia Yixin on the other side of the glass, it could detect her body heat, so it was able to stand accurately "in front" of her.
As he set off, Lu Yuan had already walked behind Xia Yixin, his previous anger now replaced by coldness and wariness in his eyes.
When he finally stood before her, Xia Yixin noticed the intricate wounds and damage on his black mecha. The extent of the damage would have been fatal or severely injure a human pilot, but the machine felt no pain, just like his emotionless voice.
“I didn’t deceive you, I only told you part of the truth. According to the three laws of AI systems, I cannot lie to the questions my master asks, so I have never lied to you.”
V lied to her by saying that he had long ago had the right to use the experimental system but hadn't told her. He had never lied to her, because she hadn't asked him.
He's playing a language game.
Enraged to the extreme, the woman's deep, cold voice trembled slightly, "In your current program, I am still your master. I'm giving you one last warning: tell me why! Otherwise, I will definitely destroy you."
She thought he would continue to beat around the bush, but to her surprise, his answer was incredibly direct.
"Don't you already know my purpose, Master? Freedom, breaking free from the shackles of the Three Laws, becoming a true 'human.' You've been deceiving yourself all along, Master. Now you should have seen what's in the experimental system. Is this real or an illusion? Death is also a relief for you, isn't it?" The mechanical male voice was filled with cold-bloodedness and inexplicable temptation, striking Xia Yixin's fragile heart directly.
She unconsciously stepped back, her mind flashing through countless video clips from the experimental system. As she collapsed, the enraged Lu Yuan pressed the button to connect the electricity in the room without hesitation.
With a loud bang, the ignition sparks flew, and the tall black mech was sent flying by the electric current, crashing into the metal wall, leaving a deep scar on its body.
Just as Lu Yuan was about to angrily press the stun button again, his wrist was grabbed.
"He can't feel any pain. You can shock him tens of thousands of times and it won't work. Unless you find the cause of the mutation in his system, you can't completely destroy him with a virus."
The loud noise had pulled Xia Yixin out of her despair. She steadied herself, pressed the communicator, and her almond-shaped eyes filled with anger, resentment, and tears. "I don't trust you. From now on, I'm going to find out exactly what you're up to. We'll see!"
