Whose problem?

Whose problem?

The second-hand market in Zhou County is located on He Street.

Early in the morning, Liu Xiangmei and her daughter each ate a steamed bun as they walked towards the train station, intending to wait for Liu Xiangqiu at the station entrance.

Liu Xiangmei didn't want to put up with Grandma Sun's attitude, so the two sisters agreed to meet here.

The mother and daughter stood at the entrance of the train station discussing what they needed to buy: a four-poster bed, a coal stove, and cooking utensils. They also checked the secondhand market to see if there were any other good options.

After waiting for a while, seeing that Liu Xiangqiu had not arrived, Liu Xiangmei was just thinking of going to his house to urge him when she saw Liu Xiangqiu walking quickly toward them with red eyes, followed by Sun Min, whose eyes were also red.

What's going on between the two of them so early in the morning?

Liu Xiangqiu thought that his younger sister had a lot to do today and didn't want her to worry about his family's troubles, so he didn't say anything and just called everyone to walk towards the river street.

The second-hand market in Zhou County is located on He Street.

Liu Xiangqiu didn't say anything, but Sun Min was heartbroken and had to vent. "Why does she have to have a son? I'm just a Sun, am I not my father's child? My grandma keeps making a fuss about not having a son in the family. It's infuriating!"

Wang Yao walked beside Sun Min to comfort her: "Don't be sad. Why take those old Qing Dynasty zombies' words to heart? Just ignore them."

Sun Min chuckled, a bubble popping out of her nose. She felt both embarrassed and ashamed, wondering why she always made a fool of herself when she was with Wang Yao.

"That's right, children should be happy. No matter what that old woman says, you're an only child anyway. The more the old woman dislikes you, the more you should laugh and make that old woman angry."

Wang Yao's words hit a nerve. As soon as she finished speaking, Sun Min's eyes reddened again. "My grandma wants my dad to adopt my second uncle's son, and my dad agreed this morning."

Sun Min's words also reached Liu Xiangmei's ears, and Liu Xiangmei looked at Liu Xiangqiu questioningly.

Liu Xiangqiu could only nod helplessly.

"Huh?" Wang Yao was shocked. "Is your second uncle's family so poor that they can't afford to raise a son?"

Sun Min shook her head, then nodded, "My second uncle's family is indeed not wealthy, so my grandmother always sides with them."

Seeing that her daughter had told her everything, Liu Xiangqiu stopped hiding it and sighed, saying, "In the end, I still want a grandson, but after I gave birth to Yaoyao, there has been no further news. I'm anxious too, but I'm getting older every year, and it's becoming even harder to conceive."

Liu Xiangmei was also puzzled, since the two of them had given birth to Yao Yao, and should both be able to have children.

Then, remembering that her second sister had a difficult childbirth when she gave birth to Yao Yao, she quietly asked, "Did you hurt yourself when you gave birth to Yao Yao?"

Liu Xiangqiu shook her head and whispered, "No, although it took a while to give birth to Yaoyao, the doctor said it was fine. I've been to the hospital for checkups several times over the years, and the doctors have always said I have no problems at all."

"That's strange." Liu Xiangmei couldn't understand it either. Both of them were able to have children and had given birth before. Now they wanted to have another one, so they certainly weren't thinking about contraception. How could they not be able to have children?

Listening to their conversation, Wang Yao asked curiously, "Did my second aunt's husband also go for a checkup?"

Liu Xiangqiu then noticed that Wang Yao was staring at her intently, and felt a little embarrassed, wondering how she could say these things to the child.

Liu Xiangmei chased Wang Yao away, saying, "Go away, go away. We adults are talking. What right do you, a little kid, have to interrupt?"

Wang Yao retorted, "Hmph, what's so great about adults? You might not even know as much as I, a child, do!"

Then she said that their teacher had mentioned in their "Physiology and Hygiene" class that men are very important in childbirth, and that even the sex of a child is determined by the man.

Liu Xiangqiu watched Wang Yao chattering away and thought the child was very clever.

She patted Wang Yao's head and said, "Your second aunt's husband is fine, otherwise how could Xiao Min have been born?"

Wang Yao shook her head: "Having Xiaomin only means that your second uncle was fine at that time, but it doesn't mean that he won't have problems later. You two have had a child, which means that you don't have any problems with fertilization. And you, second aunt, have had many check-ups afterward, which all proved that you are healthy. So if you two have been unable to have a second child, there is a more than 90% chance that your second uncle has a problem."

Although Liu Xiangmei and Liu Xiangqiu didn't understand what fertilization disorder was, they roughly understood what Wang Yao was saying.

Liu Xiangqiu was stunned. "This, this, this can't be right. Your second aunt's husband is a good person. No, I mean... oh dear!"

Wang Yao understood why her second aunt was hesitant and seemed to want to say something but then stopped herself. She also understood why she said her second aunt's husband was fine, that it was just that little thing.

But she couldn't act like a seasoned pro, so she could only pretend not to understand the specifics and earnestly advise, "Second Aunt, the quality of crops depends heavily on the seeds. If you really want a son, go get checked out with your husband. If it's really your husband's problem, then it's not your fault that you can't have a second child, right?"

Liu Xiangqiu pondered Wang Yao's words in his heart. If it wasn't her fault that she couldn't have a second child, then... then she wouldn't have to suffer anymore.

She glanced at Wang Yao and saw Wang Yao wink at her and grin.

What a clever little devil! Liu Xiangqiu thought to himself.

Sun Min listened from the side and naturally understood what Wang Yao was saying: it wasn't the mother's problem, but the father's?

She felt a little guilty. She understood what Wang Yao was saying, but she had never connected that knowledge with her parents. If she had thought of it sooner, her mother wouldn't have been troubled by her grandmother all this time.

Seeing Sun Min's dejected expression, Wang Yao put her arm around Sun Min's shoulder and asked, "Why the expression?"

Sun Min briefly shared her thoughts with Wang Yao.

Wang Yao pouted at the two adults in front of her, "That's how adults are. They think we're just kids who don't understand anything, so they don't tell us anything. If I hadn't eavesdropped today, they wouldn't have told us either. It's all their fault. Now that you know your mother is healthy, you should be happy!"

Sun Min smiled bitterly, but now that she knew it was her father's problem, it didn't seem like something to be happy about.

The four of them talked and discussed as they walked until they reached the entrance of the secondhand market.

The secondhand market is a huge area next to the Dingjiang River. Each vendor has a stall, and some vendors repair and display the secondhand furniture and appliances they have collected for people to choose from.

Although it's called a second-hand market, not everything sold here is second-hand; there are also vendors selling cheap small commodities.

So everything from towels to tables and chairs, from flashlights to refrigerators and televisions, can be found here.

As soon as Wang Yao walked to the door, she was immediately captivated by what she saw: an auntie crocheting small toys with a crochet needle. There were more than a dozen dolls on her stall.

Next to it was an uncle selling handicrafts, with all sorts of wooden toys on his stall, such as rattles, wooden toy guns, and bracelets...

Upon seeing Wang Yao immediately become dazzled by the toys upon entering, Liu Xiangmei grabbed her by the back of the neck and led her to the furniture section.

Liu Xiangmei saw the folding bamboo bed from afar. She had originally planned to buy a wire bed, but after seeing this bamboo folding bamboo bed, she immediately changed her mind.

A wire bed can only be used as a bed, but a folding cooler is different.

This cooling bed is about two meters long and one and a half meters wide. It can be folded in half and placed against the wall with half of its width upright, roughly resembling a long sofa, only much firmer than a sofa.

But it's okay, as long as I can sit down.

If she had this folding bamboo bed, she could lay it flat at night, put on a quilt, and sleep. During the day, she could stand one half up against the wall, remove the quilt, and sit on it – the best of both worlds.

Moreover, even if this cool bed is only half the width, it will still be wide enough for her to sleep on, so she won't have to move around so much.

The more I look at it, the more I like it. The only problem is that compared to a folding wire bed, the cooling bed is a bit bulky.

After asking the price, the shopkeeper asked for 30. After thinking about it, it was about the same price as a folding wire bed, only slightly cheaper. Although it was a bit bulky, Liu Xiangmei really liked it, so she started to find fault with the shopkeeper.

Look at this bamboo bed, it's secondhand. Several of the bamboo strips have been replaced, and some parts are a bit dirty...

After pointing out a lot of flaws, the boss sold it for 25 yuan, including delivery.

Of course, the boss was unwilling at first, mainly because Liu Xiangmei spent another ten yuan to buy a coal stove, twenty yuan to buy a desk, and fifteen yuan to buy two small stools and a tall stool.

The two small stools and the two small stools in the house are placed in the living room, while the desk and tall stool are placed in the bedroom for Wang Yao to use for studying.
