When Sun Min heard Wang Yao compare her grandmother to a "shit stirrer," she felt both disgusted and that it was a fitting comparison.

She slowly told Wang Yao about what she had been keeping in her heart, "The day before the college entrance examination, the school gave us a holiday. I was reading in my room when my grandmother came over with a happy look and told me that my cousin was about to be adopted into our family. She also told me about the adoption process and how I should cooperate. In short, she said a lot that day."

Those words kept swirling in my mind, replaying over and over again even after I entered the exam hall. At that time, I thought the adoption had already been decided behind my back, and I was filled with panic and sadness, thinking that my parents didn't want me anymore.

I was so stupid; I never thought to ask my parents myself, I just believed them, and as a result, my high school entrance exam results were terrible, giving my grandmother even more excuses to adopt my cousin.

Wang Yao was dumbfounded. She thought that Sun Min's poor performance was because she herself hadn't performed well. After all, exams are a matter of seven parts hard work and three parts luck, and no one can say for sure.

Unexpectedly, there was a human element behind it all.

That old woman is absolutely hateful; she's just like that dead old woman from the Wang family.

No, no!

Wang Yao grasped Sun Min's hand, "Are you sure your father is that old woman's biological son?"

"Huh?" Sun Min was both surprised and confused, not understanding why Wang Yao asked that.

Wang Yao then proceeded to tell Sun Min all the messy things that had happened in the Wang family.

Sun Min's eyes widened in utter shock.

Good heavens, what kind of ghost story is this? Can such a ridiculous thing really exist?

"So you should go back and verify it. I bet your dad isn't your grandma's biological son! By the way, did you tell your second aunt about the high school entrance exam?"

Sun Min shook her head: "I used to think that I was the one who took the exam, and if I failed, I failed. There was no need to make excuses for myself."

Wang Yao poked her forehead with her finger. "Silly girl, you have to talk to your second aunt, you hear me? And then you just listen to your second aunt on how to handle this matter."

Sun Min felt her mind was in a mess. She just gave a perfunctory reply and said she was going home.

After seeing Sun Min off, Wang Yao began her last day selling boxed lunches.

When Sun Min stumbled home, he saw his father sitting in a rocking chair in the backyard, with a tea set on a small table next to him.

Looking at her father, who was completely at ease, Sun Min suddenly felt a pang of sympathy for him.

If Yao Yao's guess is true, then compared to her father, she felt quite fortunate growing up. Her father must have had a very hard life when she was young.

Sun Dong noticed that his daughter was staring straight at him with a very strange look in her eyes, as if she was sympathizing with him, or as if she was sympathizing with someone else through him.

How could it be sympathy?

Slowly, tears welled up in the daughter's eyes.

Sun Dong quickly sat up upon seeing this, "What happened?"

Sun Min burst into tears, "Dad, don't be sad. Mom and I are your family, sob sob sob~"

Huh? These words made Sun Dong even more confused.

Hearing the commotion, Liu Xiangqiu quickly came over. "What's wrong? Why are you crying? Don't cry, tell Mom."

Sun Min threw herself into her mother's arms, sobbing, "Mommy, Daddy is so pitiful, boohoo~"

The two looked at each other, both completely bewildered.

After Sun Min calmed down, the two of them carefully inquired and learned what had happened.

Sun Dong paced back and forth in the room, furious. "Look at your good sister's family! One of them is advising people to get a divorce, and the other is spouting nonsense. What kind of people are they? You, and you, Sun Min, you two better stay away from them, mother and daughter. No, the farther away the better."

Liu Xiangqiu chuckled and comforted him, "Alright, Wang Yao is just making reasonable suspicions based on her own experience. Don't be angry. Why get angry at a child?"

Sun Dong: "Is this reasonable suspicion? This is spreading rumors, this is making up lies, this is... this is... in short, they are not good people. Don't let me see them again, hmph!"

With that, he stormed off in a huff.

With tears still on her face, Sun Min asked her mother after her father left, "Mom, is my dad really my mom's biological son?"

Liu Xiangqiu poked her head, "What are you and Yao Yao thinking about all day long? Of course it's true. Your dad was born in their hometown, unlike your aunt's husband. Everyone there knows each other, so how could it be fake? Besides, your dad and your grandma are practically identical, how could it not be? Stop talking nonsense."

Sigh! I never imagined that my brother-in-law had such a hard life since childhood, and died so young. It's so pitiful. My own little sister is pitiful too, Liu Xiangqiu sighed inwardly.

Sun Min rubbed her head. She really couldn't see how her father's face resembled her grandmother's face, which was full of wrinkles. However, after her mother pushed her head, she remembered Yao Yao's instructions and stammered out the things that happened before the high school entrance exam to her mother.

If Sun Dong was just angry a moment ago, Liu Xiangqiu is now in a rage.

"How dare that old hag! How dare she harm you like this? And you, is your mouth just for show? Why can't you ask me anything?"

After saying that, she recalled that the relationship between the mother and daughter had not been harmonious recently.

Suddenly, the words of reproach for her daughter stuck in her throat, making her eyes red.

After a while, she cleared her throat and said, "Okay, Mom knows. It's not your fault. It's all our fault as adults. Don't take those things to heart. Just focus on your studies and get along well with your friends. Nothing else matters to you."

Sun Min nodded and asked, "Should we tell Dad about this?"

Liu Xiangqiu thought for a moment, then shook his head and said, "Let's not talk about it now. That old woman has already been sent away, so let's not create any trouble out of nothing. We can talk about it later if needed!"

That old woman certainly won't stay obediently in the countryside; if she dares to cause trouble again...

After selling the boxed lunches, Wang Yao waited for Liu Xiangmei to come home and then took the opportunity to tell her her speculations about Sun Dong's background.

Liu Xiangmei was no less shocked than Sun Min, because Sun Min only had doubts, while Liu Xiangmei had experienced it once and now that she encountered it again, she subconsciously believed it.

She felt that she and her sister were really unlucky, how come they always ended up with such in-laws? It was truly a cruel twist of fate.

Liu Xiangmei wanted to call and comfort her second sister, but Wang Yao stopped her.

"Mom, Auntie and her family also need some time to process this, so let's not disturb them for now."

That makes sense, so Liu Xiangmei could only silently feel sorry for her second sister for the time being, and comfort her when her second sister came tomorrow.

However, I don't know if my second sister will still be in the mood to attend the restaurant opening tomorrow.

August 30th is an auspicious day for opening a business.

Liu Xiangmei got up very early.

She first went to the kitchen to check on the newly built stove. Following the craftsman's advice, she built two burners and let it air dry for several days. It's ready to use today.

I looked around the shop again, paying particular attention to the business license and health permit that had just been issued yesterday, which gave me a great sense of security.

Today she doesn't need to go to Lianchi Town to buy groceries, and she won't need to go in the future either.

Because several people in the neighborhood who were close to her knew that she bought all her vegetables from Liu Xiangchun, and like her, they all felt that the vegetables grown by Liu Xiangchun tasted better, so they all wanted to buy them too.

After discussing it, the two sisters decided that Chen Hai would deliver vegetables every morning. The vegetables would be left at Liu Xiangmei's place. Liu Xiangmei would use some, and the rest she couldn't use, she would put at the door to sell.

But she still had to go to the market because she needed to buy meat.

The morning market was bustling with life. The butcher already knew Liu Xiangmei. As Liu Xiangmei requested, he weighed a whole piece of pork belly and a large piece of tenderloin.

When Liu Xiangmei returned to the shop, Liu Xiangchun and his family had already arrived.

This was their first visit since Liu Xiangmei started preparing to open the shop.

Liu Xiangchun was genuinely happy for his younger sister when he saw how quickly she had established herself in the county and opened such a large store.

Seeing that her older sister was about to start wiping away tears, Liu Xiangmei quickly asked her to help move the meat and vegetables into the store.

Upon hearing this, Liu Xiangchun disregarded everything else and rolled up his sleeves to get to work.

When Liu Xiangqiu arrived with his family, this was the bustling scene he witnessed.

"Everyone's busy, we're late." He said, directing Sun Dong to put the firecrackers he had brought in the corner.

When Liu Xiangmei saw her second sister and then saw Sun Dong behind her looking unhappy, she was once again certain of her daughter's guess from yesterday.

She pulled Liu Xiangqiu aside and whispered, "Is everything settled? Sigh, we're both so unlucky, stuck with such terrible in-laws, but..."

Liu Xiangqiu quickly stopped his younger sister, "Stop talking nonsense. Yao Yao is too young to be spouting nonsense. You're so old, how can you believe it? What are you talking about? Sun Dong is his biological son, there's no such thing as adoption."

Liu Xiangmei: "Really? Then why does Sun Dong still have such a long face?"

Liu Xiangqiu rolled his eyes and said irritably, "It's the real deal. Although Granny Sun is a scoundrel, she's still their biological mother. You doubt that she's their biological child. Isn't that just pointing fingers and calling someone a bastard? Who can be happy about that?"

Liu Xiangmei quickly denied it: "We didn't mean to scold him. Although he did some bad things before, he's helped me so much recently, and you two are getting along so well. Why would I scold him? It's a misunderstanding, it seems like it's a misunderstanding, haha!"

Oh, how embarrassing! It's all that brat Yao Yao's fault, always talking nonsense.

Wang Yao: Hey, no, how can you blame only me? Didn't you believe it too?

She quickly called out to Sun Dong, "Second brother-in-law, stop what you're doing and come have a glass of water."

Then he turned to greet Liu Xiangchun and his wife, who had finished carrying the vegetables.

Sun Dong accepted the tea, still giving Liu Xiangmei the cold shoulder. He would never have come if his wife hadn't insisted on dragging him here.

However, Sun Dong was still quite considerate and polite to his older sister and brother-in-law, until he saw Wang Yao coming downstairs, at which point his face fell again.

Look at that look! What kind of eyes does a little kid like her have to sympathize with others? She's sick in the head.

Liu Xiangmei quickly grabbed Wang Yao, pulled her aside, chatted with her for a few moments, slapped her on the back, and then let her go.

Wang Yao didn't feel embarrassed at all. It was all a misunderstanding, and it would be fine once it was cleared up. She then moved closer to Sun Min and started chirping crickets again.

Sun Dong saw that she was about to spout some nonsense to her daughter again, and wanted to pull her away, but her daughter followed her. Sigh!
