Sun Dong came to the door
Even though she had already lived once, Wang Yao still didn't know how to help her. But she suddenly remembered a saying: if you don't know what to do in the moment, do the right thing.
“What is the right thing to do?” Chen Xiu asked.
Wang Yao pondered for a moment and said, "Read a book, learn a skill, or even just go for a run. As long as it benefits you, it's fine. As you do it, you might know what you should do."
Chen Xiu smiled. She had already left school and was no longer of school age. As for learning a skill, her parents still had to support her younger brother's education. She was almost twenty years old, so how could she bear to ask them for money to learn a skill?
None of these things suited her. She felt as if she were walking on the edge of a cliff, with only one narrow path to take. Even though she knew it wasn't the path she wanted, she had no choice but to walk it.
"I've finished drawing!" Sun Min held up the drawing in her hand to show it off.
"My goodness, I never expected Xiaomin to have such a talent!" Wang Yao exclaimed as she took the painting.
Sun Min was a little embarrassed, "It's just casual drawing, nothing special."
Wang Yao held up the painting, comparing it to the lotus pond in front of her, and praised it again: "This is not something that can be painted casually. If you add color, it will look exactly like the real thing. Sister Xiu, do you think I'm right?"
Chen Xiu took the painting. Although it hadn't been colored yet, it was clear that it was very lifelike. Even the backs of the three women were depicted vividly, making it easy to identify who they were at a glance.
She nodded in agreement, "It is indeed very well drawn."
"I was just thinking, such a beautiful view, it's a pity I didn't bring my camera. With your painting, it makes up for the regret. You must color it when you get back. It would be even better if you could give it to me, haha!"
After being praised by the two, Sun Min began to doubt herself, wondering if she was really that good at drawing.
She used to focus on her studies, and when she got tired, she would take out a pencil and doodle in her notebook. This was her biggest hobby, and she felt incredibly peaceful and at ease when she was drawing.
She had never shown her paintings to anyone before, and she was quite happy that someone would like them. She promised to give them to Wang Yao once she had the colors ready.
When the three of them returned, it was already noon. The aunt was cooking in the kitchen, and the table, chairs, bowls, and chopsticks were already set in the main room.
When Liu Xiangmei saw that Wang Yao's face was flushed from the sun and that she had picked a few lotus flowers, she slapped Wang Yao's back with her iron palm, saying, "The lotus flowers were growing perfectly well, why did you pick them?"
"Here, this is for you." Wang Yao handed the flowers to her mother.
Liu Xiangmei rolled her eyes at her, saying, "You're always doing this useless stuff," but carefully took the flower and even bent down to smell it. Unfortunately, the lotus fragrance was very faint.
Liu Xiangqiu, who was standing nearby, clicked his tongue and said, "The child kindly gave you flowers, and you still hit her. If I were Yaoyao, I would have thrown the flowers away."
Liu Xiangmei retorted defiantly, "When did I hit anyone? Don't try to sow discord."
"You can serve the dishes now!" Liu Xiangchun's voice came from the kitchen.
The two sisters bickered as they walked toward the kitchen.
Uncle Chen Hai came back from outside, carrying a case of soda, and invited Wang Yao and the others to sit down and eat.
After a lively meal, Liu Xiangmei carried a large bag of vegetables and returned home with everyone.
Before leaving, she reminded Liu Xiangchun, "Big sister, remember to bring your husband and child to my place the day after tomorrow."
The group took a minivan at the town entrance, and when they arrived at their building, they saw Sun Dong sitting at the door.
When Liu Xiangqiu saw that Sun Dong was covered in sweat, she instinctively wanted to go over and check on him, but Sun Min secretly tugged at her clothes from behind. Only then did she remember their plan and immediately put on a stern face.
When Sun Dong saw Liu Xiangqiu's displeased expression, he assumed she was still angry. However, he didn't have time to coax her right now; he just wanted to find an electric fan to cool off, as he had been standing in the sun at the door all afternoon.
He wanted to follow them upstairs, but Liu Xiangmei stopped him, saying, "Little sister, let's sit down and talk things over."
Liu Xiangmei snorted coldly, "Discuss? When you and your son were spreading rumors outside, saying that my sister couldn't have children, did you discuss it with her? You knew that the problem was with you, but you still let your mother bully my sister, did you discuss it with her then?"
When someone pointed a finger at him and said there was something wrong, Sun Dong's face turned ugly, but he quickly recovered. "This is between my wife and me, and I have nothing to do with you. Move aside, I'm going to find my wife."
Liu Xiangmei blocked the way and sneered, "Now you remember she's your wife? She ran away last night, didn't you think about how it wasn't safe for your wife to be out there with the child? Didn't you think of going out to look for her last night? What, were you fast asleep?"
Sun Dong felt that his sister-in-law was too sharp-tongued and didn't want to argue with her, so he shouted loudly, "Wife, wife, come out! Let's go home. I've come to pick you up. Come out!"
I thought Liu Xiangqiu would be easy to coax, but unexpectedly, a voice came from upstairs saying, "I want a divorce. I'm taking my daughter and never going back."
Sun Dong thought Liu Xiangqiu was angry that he hadn't come out to look for you last night, so he explained loudly, "Honey, I know you came to my sister's house last night, that's why I didn't come to look for you. Even though I didn't come to look for you, I didn't sleep well either. I gave my mom a good scolding at home. Don't worry, she won't dare to bully you again. Let's go home!"
Liu Xiangmei snorted, "Men's words are deceitful. What makes you think you can vouch for your mother? If you're so capable, why don't you send your mother away? Only when they're not living under the same roof will I believe you."
Upstairs, Liu Xiangqiu, at her daughter's instigation, spoke again: "I don't believe you anymore. Even if you send your mother away, I still won't believe you. I want a divorce, I must get a divorce."
Liu Xiangmei laughed, "Did you hear that? Now even if you send your mother away, it won't work. Hurry up and leave. I'll come to your house to get my sister's things when I have time in a couple of days."
After saying that, she pushed Sun Dong hard and slammed the stairwell door shut.
Sun Dong's temple throbbed with anger. How come he hadn't realized before that his sister-in-law was such a troublemaker? And how come he hadn't realized before that his wife was so hard-hearted! These two sisters really hid it well!
Upon discovering that several people nearby were already peering in their direction, Sun Dong had no choice but to turn back and head home, as he couldn't afford to embarrass himself any further!
Liu Xiangmei went upstairs and saw the three people secretly crouching behind the curtains and looking down!
"How is it? Has Sun Dong left yet?" Liu Xiangmei asked.
Liu Xiangqiu returned to the living room and said, "I'm leaving."
Seeing her second sister looking unhappy, Liu Xiangmei asked, "What's wrong? Are you reluctant to part with it?"
Liu Xiangqiu shook his head. "Do you think he'll send his mother away? What if he refuses?"
Hearing this, Wang Yao, who had come over, understood her second aunt's worries. Now, her second aunt's husband was facing an age-old dilemma: who should he choose, his wife or his mother?
Sun Min sat down next to Liu Xiangqiu and said firmly, "Dad won't be able to hold on for more than a few days, so just wait patiently."
Over the years, although her father never told her about the big or small things in the family, she could still tell from her own observation that her father was only in charge of the general direction of the family grocery store, while her mother did the specific implementation.
If Mom isn't home, Dad probably won't even know where the goods are or whether the prices have been adjusted. He used to watch people play chess whenever he had free time, but now he has to guard the grocery store and he still doesn't understand. When his patience runs out, he'll come begging to Mom.
Holding her daughter's hand, Liu Xiangqiu felt at ease. She suddenly realized that her daughter had gradually grown up, had her own ideas, and could be someone to rely on.
To prevent Liu Xiangqiu from overthinking, Liu Xiangmei pulled her aside to discuss selling boxed lunches.
While at her eldest sister's house, Liu Xiangqiu had already heard her younger sister say that she planned to sell boxed lunches and buy the vegetables she needed from her eldest sister's house every day. She also suggested that her eldest sister and brother-in-law take the vegetables to the county town to sell every day.
The older sister and her husband were unwilling. They felt they didn't know how to do business and that it was too troublesome to transport the vegetables to the county town to sell, and they wouldn't make much money. They thought it would be better to spend that time at home raising more pigs and chickens. At the end of the year, someone would come to buy the pigs, and the chickens could lay eggs.
Liu Xiangqiu thought about how his younger sister had to go to Lianchi Town to pick up vegetables every morning, so he suggested that she buy a tricycle. He said that she could buy a second-hand human-powered tricycle now, which would only cost around 350 yuan.
Do you want to buy a tricycle?
