Chapter 11 Rh-negative blood
A question mark popped into Su Niannian's head. Why did Gu Yuheng seem unhappy?
"??????"
Gu Yuheng rarely dressed so casually.
In the early morning, he stood in front of the wardrobe for a long time, his slender fingers brushing over the rows of neatly ironed shirts, and finally chose a simple white T-shirt.
My goal was to make myself not appear old in front of her.
But her words made it sound as if he were very old.
The three words, uttered in a low, guttural voice as if squeezed from the back of his throat, were: "You little idiot."
Su Niannian felt that serving a ruler was like serving a tiger.
Before she could say anything, she already had a new nickname.
She pursed her lips: "Mr. Gu, I know I'm not smart, but I will definitely try my best to cooperate with your acting. Please don't send me away... okay?"
Gu Yuheng was slightly taken aback. He walked over and helplessly patted the little girl's head.
"I was just kidding. Okay, come out with me."
Su Niannian didn't dare ask where they were going and obediently followed Gu Yuheng's footsteps.
The car from yesterday was parked in the yard. Gu Yuheng didn't call a driver; he was going to drive it himself.
Just as he was about to get into the car, he caught a glimpse of Su Niannian standing awkwardly in front of the car door, head down, not moving. He stepped around the front of the car and walked up to Su Niannian, asking her a question.
"What's wrong?"
Before Su Niannian were perfectly pressed trousers, and her face turned bright red.
He whispered, "I...don't know how to open the car door."
She had only ever ridden in the family's minivan; she had never ridden in a decent sedan, let alone seen such a luxury car.
Gu Yuheng cursed himself inwardly. He had always been taken care of by others since he was a child, and had never served anyone before. Suddenly, a girl appeared in his life, and he hadn't yet adjusted to being alone.
"It was my oversight, I'm sorry."
As he spoke, he opened the car door for Su Niannian, placed his hand on the top of the door, and said softly, "Please get in."
Su Niannian said "thank you" and got into the car, and Gu Yuheng sat down next to her.
He leaned over, maintaining a suitable distance so as not to embarrass the young girl, and helped her fasten her seatbelt.
The black sedan drove out of the villa and headed towards the city along a quiet road.
Gu Yuheng gripped the steering wheel, staring intently at the concrete road ahead, and casually remarked.
"The first time I rode in one of these cars, I couldn't figure out how to open the door. My advisor's son almost laughed me to death. I was ready to collect his body, but then he recovered."
Su Niannian chuckled softly, amused by something Gu Yuheng said, and turned her gaze from the window to the man in the driver's seat.
"Uncle, are you trying to comfort me?"
Gu Yuheng glanced at her briefly: "No way, I'm just an ordinary person. There are many things I need to learn. For example, cooking is simple, right? But I can't even make the simplest scrambled eggs with tomatoes. Do you still think I'm amazing?"
Cooking is something Su Niannian excels at; her cooking skills are excellent, and even someone as picky as Su Xin said it was delicious.
"Really?"
Gu Yuheng nodded: "Of course."
The oppressive atmosphere in the carriage was instantly dispelled by Gu Yuheng's few words.
The awkward atmosphere that had been between the two disappeared.
Su Niannian smiled and said, "I'm best at cooking. If you want to learn, I can teach you."
Gu Yuheng remained noncommittal: "Of course."
Suddenly, a phone ringtone interrupted their conversation.
Gu Yuheng put on his Bluetooth headset and answered the call.
As if on cue, the caller appeared—the very "bad friend" Gu Yuheng had just mentioned.
"Yuheng, I'm sorry, but I can't get away at the last minute. My original plan to go back to China and get together with you all may have to be canceled."
Xie Siyan and Gu Yuheng are childhood friends.
The two were in the same class in high school, and in college, one chose cardiology and the other chose neurosurgery.
However, Gu Yuheng was Xie Siyan's father's prized student.
Xie Siyan often joked that he failed to inherit his father's mantle, but his classmate and friend made up for his father's regret.
Gu Yuheng hesitated for a moment before asking, "Is it because your wife's health has been poor again recently?"
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone, followed by a soft sigh.
"To be honest, my mother's condition has worsened recently. She has been bedridden for a long time and her overall condition is not good. My father and I have taken her to see all the Western doctors in the United States and also consulted a reputable traditional Chinese medicine doctor, but my mother's health has not improved. All the test results are normal. Everyone says that her illness is psychological and suggests that we take her to the psychiatric department for treatment."
Gu Yuheng and Xie Siyan have been friends for many years.
He was very familiar with the Xie family's situation.
“Si Yan, your teacher and his wife have never been able to get over that hurdle in their hearts all these years. As long as we find Yao Yao, their heartache will be cured. I will also keep an eye out for Rh-negative blood girls around us. I believe a miracle will happen.”
Xie Siyan smiled helplessly: "Fortunately, Yao Yao inherited her mother's rare blood type, which narrowed down the possibilities a lot, otherwise it would have been like looking for a needle in a haystack."
Gu Yuheng and Xie Siyan chatted for a while longer before hanging up the phone.
Su Niannian had been listening quietly the whole time, until he hung up the phone.
Then, out of curiosity, I asked, "Are there very few people with Rh-negative blood?"
As the car was about to enter the membership-based supermarket, Gu Yuheng said while turning the steering wheel.
"Yes, Rh-negative blood is commonly known as 'panda blood.' In China, only about 0.3% of people have this blood type, making it a rare blood type."
This was the first time Su Niannian had ever heard of this blood type. She thought how difficult it would be to find a suitable blood type match if they needed a transfusion! It would be even more difficult in an emergency.
Kind-hearted Su Niannian felt anxious for others again.
"Alright, get off the bus."
Su Niannian looked at Gu Yuheng and parked the car in the supermarket parking lot.
"Mr. Gu, do you want to buy something?"
As she spoke, she followed Gu Yuheng out of the car and walked towards the supermarket.
"Besides the servants, no one has ever lived in this villa before." Gu Yuheng paused for a moment, "And no girl has ever lived here either. Since you're staying here temporarily, we haven't prepared anything the girls in the house would need. Please feel free to choose whatever you need later."
Looking at Gu Yuheng's handsome profile, Su Niannian suddenly felt a warm feeling in her heart.
It turned out that the uncle had brought her here specifically to buy things.
Today is a weekend, and there are quite a few people shopping at the supermarket. Even though the annual membership fee is not low, it is still packed with people.
The supermarket is a typical warehouse-style supermarket, with a large space and a spacious layout, and the aisles in the middle are very wide.
Gu Yuheng pushed a shopping cart and led Su Niannian straight to the food section.
The little girl was so thin that you could feel her bones when you hugged her. Her wrists were so thin that you didn't dare to use any force, as if you could break them with the slightest effort.
She really needs to supplement her nutrition and gain some weight.
Gu Yuheng, a former doctor, could not possibly let this go unchecked.
