Chapter 38 This jade Buddha is the same as my grandma's.

Chapter 38 This jade Buddha is the same as my grandma's.

Xie Zhiyao moved a small stool, stepped forward with her short legs, stood on it, and craned her neck to look around.

"Dad, our teacher said we shouldn't waste food. Even though it doesn't look very appetizing, it's still edible. Could you scoop it out for me and mix it with turkey sauce?"

Xie Siyan hugged and kissed his son: "Our Youzi knows how to cherish food, he's such a good boy."

Then he got up and started mixing the noodles.

He put the mixed turkey noodles on the dining table for his son and told him to sit down and eat.

Then I went to my room to pack my luggage.

Hospital.

Grandma Su's surgery date has been set for tomorrow morning. Su Niannian has been staying by her grandmother's side to take care of her these past few days.

With the surgery date approaching, she was worried that her grandmother would be nervous. Although her grandmother kept telling her to go home and rest, she insisted on eating and living in the hospital.

Shu Wei, Su Niannian's good friend, came to the hospital today to visit her after learning that Su's grandmother was going to have surgery.

"Grandma, don't be nervous. Nowadays, surgeries are minimally invasive. It's just a small incision to insert the scalpel. My uncle had gallbladder surgery last month and was discharged in three days. Now he can run ten kilometers."

Fu Chenting, wearing a white coat, paused as soon as he stepped into the room.

Where did this quack doctor come from to give this science lecture?

He looked up at the quack doctor who was talking eloquently in front of the hospital bed and frowned slightly.

When Grandma Su saw him come in, she greeted him with a smile: "Dr. Fu is here."

Fu Chenting nodded politely: "Grandma, how are you feeling today?"

Grandma Su's attending physician is off duty today, so Fu Chenting will be making rounds instead.

Grandma Su: "The doctors are all so caring towards me, I feel like I don't even need surgery anymore, I'm already cured."

Fu Chenting: "The surgery still needs to be performed. Don't worry, Dr. Xie, who will be the chief surgeon this time, is very experienced and has a great reputation in top hospitals abroad. Many patients from all over the world come to him for treatment."

Grandma Su knew that she was only able to have the surgery because of Mr. Gu; without Mr. Gu, she wouldn't have been able to have the operation.

"I have to thank Mr. Gu for this. Without him, I would only be a burden to Niannian in the future."

Su Niannian didn't like hearing her grandmother say that, so she grabbed the old woman's hand and pretended to be angry.

"Grandma, it's only right that I take care of you. If you keep saying that, I'll get angry."

Shu Wei chimed in, "That's right, Grandma. As long as you live to be a hundred, Niannian will be happier than anything else. Please don't say that anymore."

Grandma Su patted her granddaughter's hand: "Okay, okay, Grandma won't say it again."

Su Niannian: "That's more like it."

Shu Wei had felt a gaze, seemingly imperceptible, falling upon her from the moment she was born.

His stare made her back tingle.

She suddenly looked up.

Fu Chenting's gaze didn't have time to be withdrawn.

And so, their eyes met in mid-air.

Caught red-handed, Fu Chenting felt somewhat embarrassed and coughed lightly, covering his mouth with his fist.

Shu Wei frowned and said, "Why are you staring at me?"

Is he a pervert?

Fu Chenting didn't mince words and said directly, "Next time you give a patient a science lesson, it's best to do your homework beforehand. That way you can be more rigorous. Post-cholecystectomy exercise should follow a gradual process. Who runs ten kilometers right away? Do you think you're Spider-Man?"

Shu Wei found this person really interesting. Who was he? Why should he care what she said?

"You're a doctor who treats brains, why are you meddling in people's gallbladders? You've ruined your own brain by treating so many brains."

He was stunned, never having heard anyone speak to Fu Chenting like that before.

Only then did I realize that the woman was saying she was sick.

He pressed his tongue against his palate for a long time before finally squeezing out the words between his teeth: "I have an MRI here. Do you want to get one done and see who's sick?"

Shu Wei pouted: "Sick people always say that others are sick."

Fu Chenting: "..."

You're pretty good.

Don't let yourself fall into my hands in this lifetime.

I'll make you regret it.

Grandma Su watched the younger generation bickering and shook her head helplessly, thinking they were still just children.

"Okay, Weiwei, don't talk about Dr. Fu like that. Dr. Fu was just being responsible and was being very careful."

Shu Wei changed her attitude towards Fu Chenting and said with a smile, "Grandma, you're right."

Fu Chenting stared at Shu Wei's back, his gaze so intense it almost bore a hole through her.

He gave a few more instructions, then turned and left.

Grandma Su also invited Su Niannian and Shu Wei to eat. Her meals were arranged by the hospital and someone would deliver them later.

It was nearly 1 p.m., and the cafeteria was quiet with few people.

The two ordered a bowl of shredded pork with garlic sauce over rice and found a corner to eat.

Shu Wei asked with a gossipy air, "Does Grandma know about your relationship with Professor Gu?"

Su Niannian swallowed a mouthful of rice: "Grandma thought we were boyfriend and girlfriend, and didn't tell her anything else."

Shu Wei thought for a moment: "Then what do you mean?"

Su Niannian poked at the rice grains in her plate. She didn't know what was wrong with her these past two days; she just had no appetite.

She thought it was probably because she was worried about her grandmother.

"I will divorce Gu Yuheng in a year. We are not from the same world."

Shu Wei shook her head: "What? You two have the same nose and two eyes, what's the difference? I think you should just keep living your lives together, why get a divorce?"

Whenever Su Niannian mentions divorce, a sudden pang of pain shoots through her heart. At that moment, she can't help but wonder what Gu Yuheng is thinking. Does he want a divorce?

Lost in thought, Shu Wei received a phone call and had to leave.

Su Niannian had no appetite and planned to get up and leave with her bag.

But suddenly, a small figure appeared in the spot where Shu Wei had been sitting, sitting upright and looking at her with a serious expression.

Su Niannian: "......."

She looked up and glanced around. There were empty seats all around, and very few customers in the cafeteria. The little boy looked to be only four or five years old. Where did he come from?

As she pondered, she noticed the little boy staring intently at the plate in front of her.

Su Niannian tilted her head and thought for a moment before asking, "Didn't you eat?"

Xie Zhiyao looked at the beautiful older sister in front of him, not at all shy. His grandparents had told him not to talk to strangers, but he felt a sense of closeness to Su Niannian.

He nodded: "I got separated from my dad. This hospital is like a maze. I wandered around for ages and I don't know how I ended up here."

Su Niannian gasped, her heart pounding with fear as she listened to his words.

A child this young has gone missing; the father must be frantic with worry.

She immediately asked, "Little friend, what's your father's name? Is he a doctor?"

Xie Zhiyao nodded: "His name is Xie Siyan. He's here to perform surgery on a patient."

When Su Niannian heard Xie Siyan's name, she felt a strange sense of familiarity, and then she remembered that the doctor Gu Yuheng had invited was named Xie Siyan.

She quickly called Gu Yuheng and learned that he was also looking for Xie Zhiyao.

She didn't dare to delay, so she took Xie Zhiyao's hand and bought him a chicken roll when they passed by the window, telling him to eat it while she led him to find his father.

When Su Niannian bent down to hand it to him, the jade Buddha she was wearing around her neck accidentally slipped out from her collar.

After seeing it, Xie Zhiyao reached out her little hand and touched it, saying, "This jade Buddha is just like my grandma's."
