Chapter 37 The Xie Family's Lost Youngest Daughter

Chapter 37 The Xie Family's Lost Youngest Daughter

When Gu Yuheng heard Shen Wanxi mention his second brother.

His eyes suddenly turned icy cold.

The air pressure in the room made it difficult to breathe.

Seventeen years ago, Shen Qingbei harbored resentment towards Xie Siyan after an argument with him, and one day she secretly took Xie's youngest daughter away.

Since then, the Xie family has searched everywhere, but there has been no further news of their daughter.

Shen Qingbei vanished from the face of the earth and never appeared in front of anyone again.

Gu Yuheng's dark eyes flashed, and he said sharply, "Get out!"

Shen Wanxi was still staring at him with a lovestruck expression when she was suddenly startled and shuddered.

She said with a pale face and aggrieved expression, "Yuheng, you actually love me to this extent. In order to make me give up, you are willing to say things against your conscience that hurt you so much. Let me tell you, even if you hit me or scold me, I will not give up."

Gu Yuheng's hands, hanging by his sides, clenched tightly, his knuckles turning white.

"I'll say it again, get out."

Shen Wanxi's tears welled up in her eyes, making her look pitiful, but no one paid any attention.

Looking at the man in front of her, who resembled the King of Hell, she felt that he truly loved her terribly, and she understood Gu Yuheng's good intentions.

She ran out crying, saying, "Gu Yuheng, I will not give up."

The doctor in the white coat ran away, and the room instantly returned to silence.

Su Niannian sat in the chair, staring blankly at her hands, lost in thought.

The footsteps grew closer.

A shadow fell over our heads.

Then a pair of familiar large hands hesitated for a moment in mid-air before finally landing on the top of her head.

Gu Yuheng's voice had returned to its gentle tone: "Is there anything you want to ask me?"

Su Niannian's hands were fiddling with the creases of her jeans, her mind a jumble of thoughts.

She used to only see Gu Yuheng as her boss, but what employee would care about their boss's private life?

She felt that she had become different, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what was different. She just felt that her attitude towards Gu Yuheng was strange, and she was deeply confused.

Never mind.

Since he told me to ask, then I asked.

"Is everything Dr. Shen said true...?" She looked up at Gu Yuheng.

Gu Yuheng seemed to be able to see into her heart through her chaotic gaze, and said succinctly, "No, although Shen Wanxi and I worked together in Africa, we had no private interactions other than work exchanges. She's not thinking straight and is having delusions, but I don't want to play along with her. I will keep my distance from her in the future."

For some reason, Su Niannian felt a lump in her throat, and her mood improved considerably.

"oh......."

Gu Yuheng sat down next to her and pondered for a moment: "I just spoke with your grandmother's attending physician. According to the examination results, because her condition has been delayed for so long, there may be some difficulties with surgery."

Su Niannian's heart, which had just been at ease, clenched again.

Her little face scrunched up with worry: "Does that mean Grandma's surgery can't be done?"

"Don't worry," Gu Yuheng said. "Surgery in China does present certain difficulties, but I have a classmate who is an expert in neurosurgery, especially skilled in this area. As far as I know, he has already performed many vascular and nerve dissection surgeries, so his skills are not a concern."

Su Niannian's eyes, which had just been filled with disappointment, lit up again.

"Could this gentleman perform the surgery on my grandmother?"

Gu Yuheng remained noncommittal: "Of course, I'll call Xie Siyan later. He should be back in the country the day after tomorrow if he can get back as soon as possible."

Su Niannian felt like she was on a roller coaster today, going up and down.

I almost had a heart attack from the fright.

She excitedly grasped Gu Yuheng's hand: "Yuheng, thank you for doing so much for me."

She was so excited that she didn't even realize she had changed how she addressed Gu Yuheng.

Gu Yuheng's gaze fell on her hand holding his, and as if pleased, the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.

Country Y

At five o'clock in the afternoon, the setting sun cast long shadows, and steam gurgled from the stove.

Xie Siyan, dressed in beige loungewear, with her hair casually hanging between her eyebrows, leaned lazily against the cabinet while talking on the phone with Gu Yuheng.

Gu Yuheng explained the situation to him, and he understood that Grandma Su's condition could not be delayed. With a doctor's heart, he readily agreed to Gu Yuheng's request.

“Yuheng, I just checked the ticketing website and there are no tickets left for the flights back to China tonight. I booked a flight for 9 a.m. tomorrow to fly back to China. If there are no unexpected events, the surgery can be performed in four days at the latest.”

"Si Yan, thank you so much this time. Your teacher's wife is not in good health, so it would be a real hassle for you to make a special trip back to China."

Xie Siyan knew his childhood friend very well. He wasn't a philanthropist; it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say he was three parts cold-hearted and seven parts unruly.

Why have you suddenly become so enthusiastic?

There must be a reason behind everything.

"Yuheng, why have you become so nosy? Have you taken a fancy to someone's granddaughter and want to trick her into your hands? That's why you're so actively making arrangements."

"Xie Siyan, please watch your words. What do you mean by 'scammed'? Do you think I have such a bad impression of you?"

"Anyway, if we find Yaoyao, I definitely won't agree to her being with you."

Yao Yao is his most beloved younger sister; he even named his dog after one of her nicknames.

He believed that his younger sister was still alive in this world.

One day, Yaoyao will return to their side.

As I hung up the phone, the food cooking in the pot overflowed from the side of the pot with a bubbling sound.

White foam flowed down the pot and into the blue flames of the gas stove.

"Dad, you're not watching the pot, do you want the firefighters to come to our house and lecture us?"

A childish boy's voice rang out beside Xie Siyan.

Xie Siyan snapped back to reality and quickly turned off the gas stove.

The turkey noodle cakes that were cooking in the pot instantly fell back down. There was more dough than water, so it looked like they were overcooked again.

Xie Zhiyao was only four years old and not even as tall as his father's waist. He tugged at Xie Siyan's trouser leg, stood on tiptoe, and tilted his head back to see the results of the battle in the pot.

"Dad, is the spicy chicken noodle soup ready?"

As a single father, Xie Siyan can only provide his son with convenient food, because he focuses all his attention on his career and knows nothing about cooking.

He looked at the noodles that had been cooked again, and his lips twitched. When his son found out, he would definitely nag him again about not being able to cook.

He squatted down in front of his son: "Youzi, Dad wants to talk to you about something. Can you go to Grandma's house for dinner later? Don't come back tomorrow."

Despite her young age, Xie Zhiyao has the mind of a little adult.

"Dad, don't change the subject. Did you overcook the noodles again?"

Xie Siyan smiled awkwardly: "My son really inherited my intelligence; he can't fool you at all."
