Chapter 24 Harboring Malice
Su Niannian picked up the packaging box from the armrest box.
Open the box.
With her fair fingertips, she took out a croissant that exuded an enticing aroma.
She gazed at Gu Yuheng's handsome profile: "Have you eaten?"
"I'm driving and my hands are full. Do you want to feed me?"
Gu Yuheng was just joking.
Who knew what would happen next?
Su Niannian took the croissant, brought it to his lips, blinked her big, dark eyes, and said seriously, "Okay, you concentrate on driving, I'll hold it for you to eat."
Gu Yuheng was stunned for a moment, then his gaze slowly fell on the bag on his lips. His face was calm, but his eyes were filled with ripples.
Perhaps it was just ordinary bread that Su Niannian was holding, but Gu Yuheng, who had never been fond of sweets, actually thought it tasted pretty good.
Su Niannian's stomach rumbled softly, but she still responsibly finished feeding Gu Yuheng before picking up a croissant she had been craving and eating it herself.
"Is it tasty?"
"Good words."
Gu Yuheng turned his head slightly, watching the little girl eat with great satisfaction. She looked like a greedy little cat lazily squinting her eyes, cute yet making people feel sorry for her.
"If you like it, I'll bring you some more tomorrow."
Su Niannian gave her a sweet smile: "Okay."
A strange tremor ran through Gu Yuheng's heart.
He quickly looked away.
Why would Su Niannian's mere glance or gesture elicit such a strong reaction from him?!
He has always been able to handle everything with ease, but lately, all his composure and restraint have been gradually eroded by inexplicable emotions.
As if changing the subject, he said, "Let's go to the vet first, then go home."
Su Niannian didn't notice anything unusual about him and asked in confusion, "Do you still keep small animals?"
She secretly sized up Gu Yuheng.
I don't think his appearance is related to small animals at all.
It's hard to imagine Gu Yuheng petting a small animal.
Gu Yuheng: "When Xie Siyan was in college, he raised a Border Collie. Later, his son was allergic to dog hair, so he gave Yaomei to me to raise. Before you came to the villa, Yaomei was sick and I took her to the vet for treatment."
Su Niannian recognized the name Xie Siyan; he was the person who had spoken to Gu Yuheng not long ago.
As they were talking, the car had already stopped in front of a pet hospital.
When the shop assistant saw Gu Yuheng coming over, he quickly led Yaomei out from inside.
Su Niannian heard the barking of a dog approaching from afar, and then a black and white sheepdog ran straight towards Gu Yuheng, affectionately rubbing its big head against his calf.
It just rubbed against something and then stopped moving.
He twitched his nose slightly.
It walked up to Su Niannian and barked twice at her.
Su Niannian found it cute, squatted down, and couldn't help but reach out and touch it.
"So cute."
Gu Yuheng frowned slightly. His younger sister was raised by Xie Siyan since she was a child, and her personality was like his. She always kept her distance from strangers, but today she took the initiative to be friendly to Su Niannian, behaving very differently from her usual self.
Perhaps Su Niannian smelled of him.
This made the younger sister lower her guard.
Su Niannian asked, "Can I hold its leash?"
Gu Yuheng remained noncommittal: "Of course."
On the way back, the little girl nestled obediently in the back seat, her little paws clasped together, her head resting on them.
Seeing Su Niannian turn around to look at him, he tilted his head and acted cute towards Su Niannian.
Su Niannian was amused by its appearance: "Why did you name it Yaomei? It's a bit strange to call a dog that."
Gu Yuheng's brows furrowed deeper: "Si Yan's nickname is Yao Yao. When Yao Yao was little, he also raised a sheepdog. To amuse his sister, he deliberately named it Yao Mei. A few years ago, that Border Collie got too old and died."
"Xie Siyan brought home another young Border Collie, and named her Yaomei as well."
Su Niannian knew that some people loved small animals and treated them like family members, but she never expected that someone would be so devoted.
She exclaimed with emotion, "So that's how it is! Mr. Xie must consider Yaomei a member of the family."
Gu Yuheng watched the tree shadows flash by outside the window without saying anything.
------
Su Niannian never imagined that she would one day become a zookeeper.
The younger sister showed her unprecedented friendliness, whereas when she first arrived at the villa, she had a bad reputation for scaring away the servants who took care of her.
After observing for two days, Gu Yuheng discovered that the man and the dog could coexist peacefully.
He then felt reassured and let Su Niannian take care of his younger sister.
Border Collies are very intelligent, equivalent to the intelligence of a six-year-old child. Su Niannian always felt that it was as if it could understand human speech, and it would do whatever she asked it to do. It was super obedient.
“Miss Su, you really have a talent for training. Yaomei has only known you for two days, and she already listens to you so well. You know, she doesn’t let anyone she doesn’t know get close. It seems that this little devil is clever and likes young girls.”
"Woof woof woof".
The youngest sister called out to Aunt Chen twice.
Aunt Chen said with a smile, "I said a few words to it and it got upset. Alright, Miss Su has to go out now. We'll play with you when it gets back."
Su Niannian then remembered her tutoring job, hurriedly went upstairs to get her schoolbag, and after saying goodbye to Aunt Chen, she ran outside.
Aunt Zhang kept telling her to slow down, slow down.
For several days in a row, it was always Zhang Hongming and his wife at home. Today, when Su Niannian came downstairs, she happened to run into Mrs. Zhang carrying her bag and walking out.
Mrs. Zhang was going out of town today and was in a hurry to catch her flight, so she swiped the elevator card for Su Niannian and left.
Only Zhang Hongming and his daughter were at home.
After Su Niannian entered the room, she went to Zhang Xinrui's room to tutor her as usual. The little girl had a good understanding and listened attentively to Su Niannian's lecture. Soon, the class was about to end.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door.
Zhang Hongming pushed open the door, nodded to Su Niannian to indicate that he was sorry to disturb her, and then said politely.
"Professor Su, I have a few books here about writing techniques. I would like to ask you to take a look."
Su Niannian glanced at the book in Zhang Hongming's hand and said "Okay".
Zhang Hongming tightened his grip on the book, walked to the desk, and laid it out flat on the desk in front of Su Niannian.
"Teacher Su, what do you think of this book?"
When Zhang Xinrui saw that she didn't have to study, she took her phone, lay down on the bed, and chatted with her classmates.
Zhang Hongming selected the most popular learning books of the moment, and Su Niannian carefully flipped through the pages, genuinely trying to determine their value for him.
She was completely unaware of Zhang Hongming's gaze fixed on her slender neck.
Su Niannian selected several highly recommended study guides from among them and set them aside.
When he looked up, Zhang Hongming's honest face returned to normal.
"These books are very suitable for Xinrui's age to read."
Zhang Hongming thanked Su Niannian with gratitude, and then invited her to their room, saying that there were a few books there that were too heavy to carry, and he hoped that Su Niannian would come and take a look.
Su Niannian stared at his kind face, her expression instantly turning wary.
Perhaps it was her innate sixth sense that made her feel that this person was very strange.
"My husband just called to say he's downstairs at your building. I'll give you some advice next time."
Before Zhang Hongming could react, she grabbed her bag and walked out.
Zhang Hongming didn't stop her.
But as soon as she entered the living room, a pair of greasy hands grabbed her arm.
He wanted to pull her into his arms.
A chill ran down Su Niannian's spine, and her face paled with fright. She pushed him away forcefully.
