Chapter 89 Do you remember things before you were four years old?
Even the composed Xie Siyan couldn't help but swear.
He was completely overwhelmed by this older brother.
There was only one grandfather in the family, but now there's another older brother.
He has promised Gu Yuheng before the results are in.
It won't bother my little sister.
But now, with the eldest brother as a variable, the course of events is truly uncontrollable.
Why did my elder brother go to the Gu family without telling them? What is he going to do?
A look of seriousness flashed in Xie Siyan's eyes.
He didn't dare delay and drove the sample to the testing center.
Then they turned the car around and drove along the busy street towards the hillside villa.
---
The heat of late autumn has faded, and the morning breeze still carries the coolness of autumn. Fortunately, the sun is shining brightly today.
Warm sunlight filtered through the leaves, reflecting off a petite figure.
Su Niannian was wearing a white sweater dress, the loose waist of which slightly concealed her small pregnant belly.
Her long black hair was tied into a loose bun at the back of her head, revealing her full and smooth forehead. Her eyes were as lively as a deer's, and her porcelain-white face was free of makeup.
She is indeed bright and beautiful.
At her feet lay a huge cream-colored lion, almost twice the size of Su Niannian.
Although it has pink paw pads, the lethality of its large, fleshy paw makes one suspect that if it gets angry, it could kill Su Niannian with a single swipe.
The servants had never seen such a terrifying creature before.
Stay far away.
I wish I could hide ten miles away.
"This is the first time I've ever seen someone bring a lion to visit someone's house. Mr. Xie is incredibly bold. Isn't he afraid of hurting someone?"
"Yes, it's really scary. The lion's mouth is bigger than the young mistress's head. How could the young mistress dare to come up there?"
The servants hid in the distance, whispering amongst themselves, and no one dared to approach.
"Awooo~~~~~"
The terrifying creature they were talking about suddenly raised its head and let out a lazy growl at Su Niannian.
Its ingratiating and obedient appearance makes one almost doubt that it is a large cat.
Where is even a trace of the lion's majesty?
Su Niannian sat on the soft chair, looking down at Pudding with a serene smile, and boldly reached out her fingers to stroke its fluffy fur.
It's like petting a cat.
Pudding closed its eyes as she stroked its fur, looking completely content, and lay there quietly without moving.
Seeing that Pudding was so docile.
Su Niannian also became bolder. She had loved small animals since she was a child, especially kittens.
I remember once, behind Li Xiumei's back, I picked up a stray calico kitten. Su Niannian collected some old cardboard boxes and built a small shelter for the kitten to protect it from the wind and rain. Every day after school, I would secretly feed it some leftovers.
After she raised the kitten to adulthood, the neighbor grandmother, who was not used to life abroad, was sent back to her hometown by her son.
Living alone is lonely, so Su Niannian gave the kitten to her grandmother.
Thinking of this, Su Niannian paused for a moment.
Looking at the pudding in front of her, she couldn't help but feel a little confused.
When she was little, she often had a vague dream.
In her dream, a fluffy little animal would come to play with her. She would run in front of it with her short legs, and the sound of four little paws chasing after her would follow closely behind.
However, she could not make out the shape of the small animal and could not discern its true appearance.
It had only a vague outline, which she could hardly see clearly under the dazzling white light.
Whenever she tried to think hard, she would get a splitting headache and then wake up.
The sound of leather shoes clicking on the stone pavement came from behind.
Pudding looked up at the tall man behind Su Niannian.
"Yao... Miss Su, do you have any special feelings for Pudding?" Xie Tingyan's expression was shrouded in shadow.
The towering ginkgo trees surrounding the room provided shade, but could not conceal Xie Tingyan's desolation.
He wore a black overcoat, and a matching shirt accentuated his sharp jawline.
He originally had a personality that made him difficult to approach.
The voice, however, carried a gentle warmth.
Seeing that Su Niannian wanted to stand up, Xie Siyan naturally squatted down next to her.
"You're pregnant and it's not convenient for you to get up. Just do whatever makes you comfortable. Don't be so rigid about etiquette. Understand?"
Su Niannian plopped back down, not daring to disobey her older brother.
Who told her to be such a coward?
She pursed her lips: "Okay..."
This newly recognized godbrother is really caring towards her.
If only it were her own brother.
It can help her fight off the people who are bullying her.
"You haven't answered my question yet," Xie Tingyan said, looking at her hopefully.
"Feeling?" A look of confusion appeared in Su Niannian's eyes: "I can't describe this feeling."
"Tell me about it, and maybe I can help you answer it." Xie Tingyan tried hard to control the emotions in his eyes.
He tried to keep his tone calm so that Su Niannian wouldn't notice anything amiss.
Su Niannian looked at the bluestone bricks through the pudding.
"I just don't have the fear of those large, ferocious beasts. Maybe when I first saw Pudding in Thailand, I felt scared as a conditioned reflex, but as time went by, I gradually got used to it. And strangely enough, I feel like I've seen Pudding before, but I don't know if it's my imagination or a real memory."
Xie Tingyan's expression changed.
"Niannian, your older brother wants to ask you something."
Su Niannian turned her head to him and said, "Please speak."
Xie Tingyan calmed himself down and asked, "Do you remember anything from before you were four years old?"
Su Niannian was stunned, her pupils involuntarily shrinking.
After listening to Xie Tingyan's words.
She tried hard to search her memory for something from when she was around four years old.
But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't remember it.
But her mind remained blank.
It's as if someone has erased that memory.
The longest memory she could recall was lying on the kang (a heated brick bed) in her old home.
Li Xiumei and her grandmother were arguing loudly.
When she woke up that day, she faced a conflict that arose because of her.
"I married into your family to enjoy a good life, not to be a burden to you..."
Then the sound of shattering glass echoed in the living room.
There was also the sound of a wooden chair falling to the ground.
The cacophony of noise instantly and violently assaulted her ears, sharp and piercing, violently impacting her nerves.
Su Niannian covered her head with both hands, her head throbbing with pain. She closed her eyes and desperately tried to drive away the annoying noises.
"Niannian, what's wrong?" Xie Tingyan's deep eyes suddenly changed upon seeing this.
He leaned over and took Su Niannian's hands in his.
With eyes full of worry, I wanted to put her hand down.
Su Niannian's head was throbbing. She didn't know what was wrong with her; just trying to recall her childhood memories caused her unbearable pain.
"Big brother, what were you saying to Niannian?" Xie Siyan saw this scene when he came over.
He strode over, his gaze unusually sharp as he looked at Xie Tingyan, his tone full of accusation.
