Chapter 56 A Period of Rest

As the last note of the first movement of the E minor concerto faded, the applause that had been paused during the preparatory phase subsided.

Although the performer's skills were not outstanding among the examinees, all of that seemed insignificant at his age of six.

A grade six in violin is considered quite good. Most people would need five or six years of one-on-one tutoring from a professional teacher and two hours of practice every day to reach this level.

The fact that the little boy standing on the stage today, at the age of six, played this piece flawlessly demonstrates his boundless potential.

After bowing, Chen Bing left the stage.

"Amazing, truly amazing! This is so much better than before, and you didn't make a single mistake due to nervousness!" The violin teacher who brought Chen Bing to the exam happily picked him up and gave him a warm kiss on the cheek. "You're truly my pride!"

Although it was fun to get close to a pretty aunt, I still felt a sense of shame.

Chen Bing smiled shyly and said many modest things.

"Actually, I was a little nervous, and I was a bit stiff when shifting gears."

"You've already done a great job. I never imagined that I, a piano teacher in a small town, would have such a talented student like you. Ah, I'm so happy! Come on, let's go to McDonald's today, and then I'll take you to the amusement park, okay?"

Chen Bing agreed to all of these requests, and after a day of fun in the provincial capital, he took the train back to his hometown of Shangping.

After spending the whole day wandering around the big city, coming back suddenly felt quite heartwarming.

After waving goodbye to her teacher, Chen Bing followed Liu Yue into the family's new car, and soon they arrived home from the train station.

"How was it? Was Jinan fun?" Liu Yue asked Chen Bing with a smile on the way back.

"It's quite fun, but I still feel more comfortable staying at home. No matter where I go, I feel familiar with the place."

Hearing her son's unambitious words, Liu Yue wasn't angry; instead, she was quite moved. Even so, she still had to say something.

"Once you get into university and find a class, do you think you can still study here?"

"I'm still a few days away from starting elementary school, isn't it a bit too early to talk about that?"

"Hahaha, that's true."

As they were talking, the car drove into the community garage, and Chen Bing and Liu Yue took the elevator and soon returned home.

Upon seeing Chen Bing return, Chen Shichao unusually showed concern for him.

"How's it going? Did you get that certificate yet?"

"The results won't be announced for another three or four months, it's too early to talk about it now."

"Hmm," Chen Shichao simply replied, and then fell silent. He was currently fully focused on preparing for next year's adult college entrance examination, making the most of his free time to study.

It's said that the most charming men are those who are earnest and ambitious, and Chen Shichao is no exception. His wife, Liu Yue, is naturally impressed, and even his dutiful son, Chen Bing, has begun to look at him with new respect.

After nodding to Chen Shichao with satisfaction, Chen Bing returned to her room and studied for a while, reading "Dream of the Red Chamber" for a bit.

After having dinner and brushing her teeth, Chen Bing went to bed early because she was tired from the day.

The next morning, after eating the breakfast prepared by Liu Yue and watching her and Chen Shichao leave for work, Chen Bing returned to her room and turned on her computer.

Please don't misunderstand, Chen Bing turned on the computer mainly because he wanted to learn about computers. The future world is the world of the internet, and those who don't understand computers are no different from the illiterate of the new era—that's what Chen Bing's university computer science teacher said in his previous life.

He thought it made a lot of sense when he heard it, but unfortunately, as a Chinese language and literature major, he really didn't have the talent for it. He would learn and forget, so the results were not very good.

After graduating and starting work, I realized that the saying "not knowing how to use a computer means being illiterate in the new era" is fundamentally a false proposition.

Because, for liberal arts students, their work doesn't require computers at all.

"Not needing" here doesn't mean you don't need a computer, but rather that all you need is access to a webpage and a computer to create a spreadsheet or PowerPoint presentation.

Chen Bing was naturally speechless at being tricked by her teacher, but as the saying goes, it's always good to have more skills, so she didn't take it too seriously. At the very least, she could fix her own computer if it broke down.

However, in this life, Chen Bing had some free time recently and watched a video about computer theory online, which immediately piqued his interest. After buying and reading a few basic books, he started practicing on his home computer.

It turned out that perhaps because her mind was better developed in this life, or perhaps because of the foundation from her previous life, Chen Bing found learning computers to be very easy and comfortable.

Gradually, I became addicted to it.

After studying for a while, Chen Bing put down the book and clicked on the familiar CF icon.

Ahem, didn't I just say that the main purpose of turning on the computer is to learn about computers, and the secondary purpose is, of course, to relax?

What? I, Chen Bing, have worked so hard for so long, from almost graduating from kindergarten until now, when elementary school is about to start. I've been practicing piano, exercising, and studying day and night for so long. I finally made it through this period, and there's nothing urgent now. What's wrong with relaxing a bit?

As Liu Bei once said, "I've fought wars my whole life, what's wrong with enjoying myself a bit? Let the music continue, let the dancing continue."

After calming herself down, Chen Bing put aside her guilt and continued shooting happily.

Ah, Thor is so cool! I'm so awesome!

Over the gaming headset, his teammates' constant use of terms like "rich bro" and "big boss" made Chen Bing a little cocky. After a few rounds of exchanging guns with them, the final victory unsurprisingly slipped away to the opposing team.

Seeing their side so easily defeated, these former teammates immediately turned on them. Listening to his teammates' comments about the Thor weapon and himself as "trash" and "useless," Chen Bing couldn't help but doubt himself.

Why is it that I, a child who is extremely talented and intelligent in every aspect, am so bad at games?

First, we can rule out factors related to ourselves, so the problem must be with this old computer.

It's been around for three or four years now. Since no one in the family uses it except for myself, no one has thought about replacing it yet.

After understanding this, Chen Bing felt a little better.

The failure was not due to any fault in the battle.

Thinking of this, Chen Bing, unable to bear her teammates' constant chatter, typed these words in the public chat at lightning speed.

[Stop barking, that was just a warm-up. If you're so good, let's play another round and I'll show you my true skills.]

Driven by their desire for hero-level weapons, the teammates who had been grumbling just moments before fell silent, quietly lighting up their devices and waiting for the host to start the game.

Seeing this, Chen Bing smiled coldly. Just because I haven't shown my teeth doesn't mean I'm some kind of pushover.
