Chapter 222 Another World (Fourth update today! Bonus update if gifts reach 200)

Fang Anmin's expression changed; he knew that the danger of this vehicle was no less than that of a dragon's den or a tiger's lair, so he had no choice but to find another one. Fortunately, the two "mixed vehicles" were not far apart, and Fang Anmin quickly got back into the car.

This time, the scene inside the vehicle was much more normal. In the back seat, several girls from Class 2 were quietly discussing problems with their books. There were also students from other classes, but they were all gathered in the front row, and they didn't seem to pose any danger or act like strange or unruly students.

Relieved, Fang Anmin directed his classmates to sit in the back row together. He then pulled Chen Bing aside and asked him to help take care of the other students on the bus, to which Chen Bing readily agreed.

After making the arrangements, Fang Anmin left, turning back several times. He was, after all, a teacher, and many more students in his class were waiting for him to take care of. Even if there were children of leaders present, he couldn't stay specifically for them. After all, a teacher's title is synonymous with "the people."

After the homeroom teacher left, Chen Bing led Xiao Shang to sit down near his classmates. Before he could even settle in, he saw a thin, short old man get on the bus. To be fair, the man had excellent eyesight; even in such a crowded and dark environment, he spotted Chen Bing immediately and waved twice as a greeting.

After waving his hand twice, Chen Bing saw the geography teacher nod and make no further move. It seemed the other person was the teacher leading the vehicle.

After turning her gaze away from the geography teacher, Chen Bing began to look at the other students on the same bus.

In just a short while, wave after wave of people got on the bus.

Aside from those in our class, most of the students were unfamiliar faces. If there was anything they had in common, it was that they were noisy. They didn't study or rest; instead, they chattered excitedly, and when the teacher wasn't looking, they would pull out their phones from their pockets and watch games, movies, and novels non-stop.

Several of my classmates, who were usually quite honest, stared in disbelief at what they saw. They had never imagined that so many people in school would bring their phones, especially at such a crucial time as exams. Didn't they need to study?

Actually, those who play games, read novels, and watch TV series are already considered good. What's worse is that some people will laugh loudly with the people next to them, and keep spouting vulgar swear words and catchphrases.

Chen Bing had always known how badly Baishi No. 1 High School had deteriorated. Apart from the top ten students in the regular classes who were aiming for regular high schools, the rest were basically just coasting along. The only reason the school seemed decent was because of its two elite classes and its good reputation over the past decade or so.

The underachieving students in the regular classes basically spend their days smoking, drinking, hanging out with the underdogs, sleeping, or playing games on their phones—they don't act like students at all. Their future plans completely lack any intention of attending a regular high school and then going to a normal university.

Many people simply drift through three years of junior high school education, and once they graduate, they go to vocational high school to continue wasting their time until they finish vocational high school, at which point they enter factories and assembly lines to begin their robotic lives.

For them, this is already a fairly normal life. Some even skip vocational high school and go straight into society, becoming what people call "spirited young men" or "spirited young women."

Most of them don't know that "战战兢兢" is pronounced "zhan zhan jingjing" instead of "zhan zhan keke," nor do they know which dynasties existed in ancient China. They don't know the meaning of Newton's three laws of motion, nor what Oceania is. They might consult a fortune teller when their middle school entrance exams are approaching. They might go to a shaman when they are sick.

They lived their lives in ignorance and confusion, living unknowingly in the 21st century, becoming fertile ground for those trashy short videos and vulgar traffic. It's not that Chen Bing discriminated against them; there was a time when he, like others, looked at them with a mocking gaze. But now, while feeling pity for these people, he deeply understood that he belonged to a different world from them—just a proud thought.

Seeing that some students inside the bus were making too much noise, the geography teacher reprimanded them twice in his uniquely leisurely tone, and the noise subsided somewhat. However, it wasn't long before the noisy and unbearable chatter returned once again.

I can't manage too much; the only people I can take care of are those around me.

Thinking this in a childish way, Chen Bing took out his phone and earphones from his bag. Under the surprised gazes of his honest classmates, he reached out and tried to put the earphones on Shang Yunmiao.

"Let's listen to some music to relax, it's too noisy in the car."

Shang Yunmiao's seat was at the very back, and Chen Bing was sitting right next to her on her right. The bus wasn't very spacious, so it was easy for Chen Bing to bump into her if she moved.

Shang Yunmiao sensed a slightly ambiguous atmosphere, mainly because Chen Bing's breath was gently brushing against her. But...it wasn't unpleasant, because it made her feel very safe.

Looking at Chen Bing's face so close to his, Xiao Shang blushed for the first time in a long time. After all, they were too close, and there were too many strangers around.

"Okay, sure." After placing her hands on her lap, Shang Yunmiao obediently agreed and let Chen Bing do as she pleased.

As the headphones went in, a moment later, a melodious violin sound rang in my ears, distant and ethereal, as if I were in a small town at the foot of a mountain in the height of summer.

"Is this the piece you played?" Although it had been a while since she had heard it, Shang Yunmiao could still recognize Chen Bing's unique personal style when playing the violin.

"Yeah, I recorded this last month when I was bored at home. How is it? My skills haven't gotten worse, have they?"

"Mmm, it sounds beautiful." After closing her eyes and absorbing the charm of the music for a while, Shang Yunmiao asked, "What's the name of this piece?"

"Towards the Distant Sky," an insert song from an anime.

"Oh, it feels so gentle. Next time I have a holiday, I want to go home and watch that anime. What's it called?" It was rare for Xiao Shang to be interested in anime, and Chen Bing felt that this was something that made this old otaku very happy.

But should I tell the other person the name of this anime, "Yuan Zhi ( )"?
