Chapter 18 The First Day of School

After getting up early in the morning and enjoying the nutritious breakfast prepared by Liu Yue, Chen Bing arrived at the town's bilingual kindergarten at 8:30 a.m. sharp.

Even before she got close, Chen Bing could hear the noisy crying of children and the comforting voices of parents and teachers.

Each kindergarten teacher held up a sign with the name of their class on it, allowing parents to find the teacher assigned to their child.

Before getting closer, Liu Yue overheard a parent talking to their child.

"Yangyang, you promised Mom yesterday that you wouldn't cry all day at school today. A man should keep his promise, right?"

"Mom! I promise I won't cry, because I'm a good boy."

Hearing this, Liu Yue felt a flutter in her heart.

She looked at Chen Bing beside her, intending to comfort him like the mother had done. But to her surprise, Chen Bing, who had also overheard the mother and son's conversation, was now looking at her with a speechless and awkward expression.

"Will Bingbao cry if Mommy isn't here?" Liu Yue asked Chen Bing with a playful smile.

"Yueyue, are you serious?"

The mother Chen Bing remembered from her youth was not the same as the mother she remembered; she was not strict or fierce enough.

Therefore, when the other person shows a playful and charming personality, Chen Bing will directly call them by their nickname.

After all, it's a bit hard to accept calling a woman who is the same age as you, or even younger, even if she really is your mother.

I would never admit that such a beautiful older sister is my mother!

As Liu Yue expected, Chen Bing's answer was exactly what she thought: the child was good in every way, except that she was too independent and too precocious. As a result, Liu Yue felt very unreal about being a mother.

"Who are you calling Yueyue? No respect for elders!"

Liu Yue gently tapped Chen Bing on the head, without any intimidation whatsoever. It was completely different from the beatings she received in her past life when she was at that age, disliked by everyone.

"I learned it all from Lao Chen. If you don't like it, Yueyue, I'll call you Sister Yue."

This one isn't as good as Yueyue's; at least the former sounds younger.

After shifting the blame for the nickname to Chen Shichao, Chen Bing added a cheeky remark. Then, taking advantage of Liu Yue's inattention, he let go of her hand and jogged towards his class's line.

"I'm leaving now, see you this afternoon."

Chen Bing ran off with a clatter.

Seeing her son speaking to his teacher without any shyness, Liu Yue smiled slightly.

She stared intently at Xiao Chenbing until he followed the teacher toward the classroom and disappeared from sight, then she slowly looked away.

I feel inexplicably melancholy.

My son is in kindergarten and I don't need to take care of him anymore. My husband is busy with his shop and can't come home. I recently went to my father's house to clean it up. I also sold my own breakfast shop and quit.

So what's next?

After being busy for a long time, Liu Yue suddenly felt a sense of emptiness, a fear of being idle and having nothing to do.

She thought for a moment, Shichao was busy outside and might not have time to eat, so why not cook him a meal and send it over?

Liu Yue left the kindergarten gate, wondering what she should do next. She would come back at 4:30 p.m. when the kindergarten let out.

How they will get through this period is anyone's guess.

Compared to Liu Yue's emptiness, Chen Bing on the other side was much more excited and fulfilled.

Although everyone has attended kindergarten, because it is the beginning of our memories, few people can recall the fun they had in kindergarten as adults.

So for Chen Bing, going to kindergarten is a completely new experience.

The bilingual kindergarten consists of three separate two-story bungalows, plus a small courtyard covered with play equipment.

Opening the door and looking into the classroom, I saw that it was decorated very warmly, with colorful balloons and ribbons hanging all over the room, and the blue and pink walls were covered with handicrafts and paintings by "outstanding graduates".

In one corner of the classroom is a small reading corner, with bookshelves filled with all kinds of children's books in both Chinese and English. In the back of the classroom, there are also various toys and play equipment, such as building blocks, small piano keys, puzzles, dolls, small drawing boards, and so on.

In addition, a picture welcoming the bilingual kindergarten had been drawn in colored paint on the whiteboard at the front of the classroom. Below it, the words "Welcome to Bilingual Kindergarten" were written in both Chinese and English.

Placed in the center of the classroom are blue or pink plastic tables and chairs, with rounded edges and corners so that people won't get hurt if they bump into them.

Overall, the conditions are quite good.

It won't be much worse than a regular kindergarten in the next two or three years.

"Come on, kids, let's all take our seats one by one, okay?"

After leading the children to the classroom, the teacher helped each child find a seat.

It seems she understood that letting the children find their own seats wouldn't work, so she wisely adopted the method of taking care of each child individually.

On the first day of school, it's the first time many children are away from their parents, and crying is perfectly normal. Moreover, the emotion of crying seems to have a magical power, spreading to everyone.

However, this situation has not yet occurred in Chen Bing's group of children.

There were more than 20 students in the class, and the teacher in charge found a seat for each child in no time.

To prevent the children from crying, the park staff placed some small toys on the table.

The toy on the table in front of Chen Bing was a jigsaw puzzle. It was so boring that you could tell how to put it together at a glance.

Although he found it uninteresting, others were much more interested.

Some kids even go so far as to grab their classmates' toys without any hesitation, just to play with the ones that are more interesting to them.

Chen Bing vaguely remembered the child whose toy was taken away; it was the little boy she and Liu Yue had overheard at the kindergarten gate, the one who had promised his mother not to cry.

How does this cheerful young man feel about having his toy taken away?

"Waaaaah!!!"

"Mommy! I want my mommy! Waaaaah~"

"Woo-a-woo-wa~"

Like a toppled domino, a cry elicited a strong response from the entire class.

The kindergarten teacher was used to this scene. She tried to soothe the children as usual, but her efforts to calm them were futile amidst the chorus of cries.

This is bad; this year's group is a bit tough.

How's it going? Sweating buckets, huh, teacher?
