Volume 1 Chapter 132 Can Your Boyfriend Still Hold You Back?

Volume 1 Chapter 132 Can Your Boyfriend Still Hold You Back?

Although Du Ruo has lived abroad for several years, she still doesn't know what fun and delicious things there are here.

It seemed like her life had been pretty much the same here for so long.

When I first came abroad, I was in Pasadena.

She was young at that time and needed a guardian to accompany her to study here.

Since it was not convenient for her family to come over, her father asked a college classmate with whom she had a good relationship when she was studying abroad to take care of her.

The aunt was a very nice person, a Spanish lady, who often offered to take her out to play on weekends.

Du Ruo went with him a few times at first, but every time she went out, she could hear the other person talking on the phone. He also had his own life, and during the holidays he had family dinners and gatherings with friends, but he turned them down for her.

The other party didn't know that she could understand Spanish and complained a few times, but Du Ruo didn't take it to heart. She could understand it very well. After all, she was the one who caused her trouble.

Later, when the aunt invited her, she declined on the grounds that she was busy with schoolwork.

The situation abroad was so chaotic that she didn't dare to wander around alone.

During the holidays, I can only stay in the library.

The downside is that on a university campus where the average age is 18, no one wants to deal with a 9-year-old kid, and she doesn't have anyone who can be called a companion.

The good thing is that she didn't have the chance to indulge herself. She studied hard day and night, and in three years she was successfully admitted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to continue her studies for a master's degree.

After moving to Cambridge, she cut off contact with the aunt. Anyway, Du Qian would maintain their friendship as classmates, so she didn't need to worry too much.

After coming here, her social relationships have become much more stable.

After all, what MIT lacks the least is genius, and she is not an outlier.

She now had a real roommate with whom she could eat, attend classes, and discuss academic issues.

Of course, there is a disadvantage, that is, she is 12 years old and a minor.

She is 22 years old, the right age to fall in love.

She had seen her roommate bringing her boyfriend back to the dormitory many times, making uncontrollable noises in the dead of night.

She thought about changing dormitories, but was afraid that people would think she was being pretentious. Chinese people here are easily discriminated against, and if she continued to cause trouble, her life would not be easy.

This kind of life lasted for 4 years, and she witnessed her roommate changing more than a dozen boyfriends.

She told Xu Jingmo that although she had never eaten pork, she had seen pigs running. She had really seen it, and she had seen both white pigs and black pigs.

Later, she passed the doctoral exam and followed Wilson, which truly marked the end of her hard work.

Wilson is a Nobel Prize winner, and he can stand out even at MIT, where geniuses abound.

She became one of his direct disciples.

He has his own laboratory, and people here are judged based on their research results, not age, status or qualifications.

She was able to quickly keep up with their thinking and even published several SCI papers.

But Wilson suppressed her everywhere, saying that she was not good enough in any way and was far from it.

If it wasn't for a dinner party one time when Wilson got drunk and Du Ruo heard him bragging to others that she was the most talented disciple he had ever taught, she would have secretly cursed him to become bald soon.

A stinky old man is a stinky old man, just like her grandfather, very scheming.

Later, she completed enough doctoral credits and wanted to graduate early.

Wilson kept getting stuck on her thesis, and the two had a big argument.

Wilson gave her a vacation so that she could go out and make some friends and change her mindset, and maybe her thesis would pass.

Du Ruo didn't know what he was up to, but she was provoked by his tactics and returned home.

Thinking about it now, she should thank him.

If she hadn't returned to China, she wouldn't have had such close contact with Xu Jingmo, and she wouldn't have discovered his secret crush on her.

She won't fall in love.

Thinking of this, Du Ruo looked at Wilson with a much more favorable look.

Wilson got goosebumps from her stare and asked her, "Why are you looking at me?"

Du Ruo: "Guess."

Wilson: "Ha, you actually slacked off during the experiment. Submit 10 paper reports to me tomorrow."

Du Ruo's face fell and he snorted in his heart, "You stinky old man, I hope you'll become bald soon."

During the lunch break, Du Ruoxian asked his seniors about some special attractions and restaurants, wrote them down one by one, and planned to go back and tell Xu Jingmo. He couldn't let him stay here bored every day, so he could go out and have some fun by himself.

However, facts proved that Du Ruo had completely overthought it and she underestimated Xu Jingmo's social skills.

When she walked out of the laboratory building, she saw Xu Jingmo chatting with two white boys downstairs. They seemed to be having a very pleasant conversation. When they saw her come out, they greeted her and walked towards her. The two men even waved to her in a friendly manner.

Xu Jingmo approached, and Du Ruo asked curiously, "Who are they?"

Xu Jingmo: "One is called Bob, the other is called Henry, they are exchange students participating in the summer program, I don't know the others."

Du Ruo looked at him strangely.

Xu Jingmo pinched her face lightly and asked with a smile: "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Du Ruo: "How come you can make new friends so quickly?"

Xu Jingmo said mysteriously, "Talent."

Du Ruo sighed and said admiringly, "Amazing."

Xu Jingmo smiled and put his arm around her shoulders, explaining, "What a bullshit! I was just pretending to be powerful. They were lost and asked me where to go. I gave them a detailed introduction to the teaching building of your school. They thought I was a student of this school, so they introduced themselves and chatted with me for a few more sentences. I said no, my girlfriend is a PhD student in the physics department here. Just as I was talking about this, you came out."

Du Ruo suddenly realized and asked curiously, "Why have I been here for so long and no one has asked me for directions?"

Xu Jingmo said in a nasty tone: "I don't know. Maybe I am more likable and popular wherever I go."

Du Ruo rolled her eyes at him but couldn't help laughing.

She sent him all the information she had just consulted and said, "These are some of the local specialties. You can go shopping when you have nothing to do."

Xu Jingmo didn't even look at him, "I don't want to go. Who said I have nothing to do? I'm busy."

Du Ruo: "What are you busy with?"

Xu Jingmo: "I have good news for you."

"What?" Du Ruo asked curiously.

Xu Jingmo: "I went to your school's admissions office for consultation today. I can apply to be an exchange student at your school as long as I meet the corresponding requirements. I don't have to wait until I am admitted to graduate school. I can come to accompany you as early as my junior year. In other words, our long-distance relationship will last no more than one year. Du Ruo, you don't have to put pressure on yourself to return to China in a hurry. Just wait for me to accompany you."

Du Ruo was stunned and looked at him in disbelief.

Xu Jingmo leaned over and pecked her lips lightly, then smiled and said, "Is this good news worth celebrating? You have to treat me to a good meal, a proper couple's western meal?"

Du Ruo threw herself on him with an excited smile. Xu Jingmo held her firmly and said teasingly, "Tsk tsk, you are not afraid of losing face in this unfamiliar place. You are so enthusiastic."

Du Ruo buried her head in his neck and said in a gentle voice, "Xu Jingmo, how come you are so nice?"

Xu Jingmo smiled and said, "I've already said it, there's no need for you to be so low-key and compatible with me. Can your boyfriend still hold you back?"

Du Ruo praised: "Well, Xu Jingmo is the best."

Xu Jingmo: "But your school has very high requirements. In order to prevent false happiness, it will be up to you to supervise from now on, Rubao."

Du Ruo: "Okay, no problem."
