Chapter 9 Supporting Sicheng

Zheng Baozhu touched Song Sicheng's little face and asked, "Who bullied you? Why did they bully you?"

Qiu Xiaozhuang said: "They saw that Sicheng was young and tried to grab his pencil. When Sicheng refused to give it to them, they beat him."

Zheng Baozhu held Song Sicheng's hand and said angrily, "What a mess! Whose child is this? I'm going to find him!"

Song Zhiting came back and saw Zheng Baozhu's cheeks puffed up with anger, so he asked her the reason.

"Your son was beaten!"

Song Zhiting carried the child into the house, squatted down and asked, "Did you fight back?"

Song Sicheng didn't know what his father meant and glanced at Zheng Baozhu.

Zheng Baozhu immediately defended him: "Your son is being beaten by others now, you should stand up for him instead of questioning him."

Song Zhiting said calmly: "I need to understand what happened."

"Sicheng is younger than them. He must have been scared out of his wits when he was bullied. How could he even fight back?"

At this time, Song Sicheng looked up and whispered, "I fought back."

Zheng Baozhu was surprised that a six-year-old child dared to fight back when being bullied.

Song Zhiting asked: "Do you need your parents to handle this matter for you now, or do you want to solve it yourself?"

"He's only six years old, how can he handle this kind of thing!"

Song Zhiting did not answer Zheng Baozhu's words and waited for his son's answer.

Song Sicheng thought for a moment: "I can solve it myself."

Song Zhiting patted his son's shoulder: "Dad believes in you."

Zheng Baozhu strongly disagreed with Song Zhiting's behavior. She was bullied by her classmates at school before, and her father took her directly to her classmate's house, supported her and let her fight back.

After Zheng Baozhu's questioning, she learned that the children who bullied Song Sicheng were the children of fishermen on the island.

Zheng Baozhu understood Song Zhiting and did not want to interfere in this matter by relying on his status as an officer.

When it was time to go to school, Zheng Baozhu also went to school.

Qiu Xiaoqiang identified the two children who bullied Song Sicheng.

They are a pair of brothers, Zhu Xiaodong and Zhu Xiaoxi.

Song Sicheng was a little nervous. His family had always told him not to bully others because of his status. On the one hand, he was happy that someone stood up for him, but he was worried that Zheng Baozhu would stand up for him and his father would blame her when he returned.

Seeing Zheng Baozhu about to walk towards them, Song Sicheng nervously grabbed Zheng Baozhu's sleeve.

"Mom, Grandpa said that adults shouldn't get involved in children's affairs, so he asked me to learn to handle things independently."

Zheng Baozhu touched his head and said with a smile: "You are so young, but you think a lot. Don't worry, I'm not going to cause trouble for them."

Zheng Baozhu walked to the tallest boy in the class, took out a handful of candy from her pocket, and said to the boy, "Sicheng has just transferred here and is having trouble keeping up with the course. You look like a helpful kid, can you help Sicheng learn and improve together?"

When the boy saw the candy, his eyes lit up: "Don't worry, sister, I will definitely teach Song Sicheng well."

Zhu Xiaodong watched Zheng Baozhu put a handful of candy into the boy's hand and said with envy: "Han Fei's grades are not good at all."

When the kid named Han Fei heard his classmates making fun of him, he glanced at Zheng Baozhu, fearing that Zheng Baozhu would take the candy back.

Zheng Baozhu ignored the two children and said to Han Fei: "You look very smart, how can your grades be bad? I believe you."

Han Fei was very happy to hear this, and promised Zheng Baozhu: "I will definitely teach Song Sicheng well!"

When Zheng Baozhu left, she also gave Song Sicheng a handful of candy.

Children of this era didn't have much snacks. Zheng Baozhu took out a handful of candies, shocking all the classmates.

Han Fei accepted Zheng Baozhu's favor, came to Song Sicheng, and announced to the classmates: "Song Sicheng is my good friend, no one is allowed to bully him in the future!"

Other students also showed their goodwill to Song Sicheng and expressed their desire to be friends with him.

Song Sicheng did not show any sign of being flattered, but sat down calmly to read.

After returning from school in the evening, Zheng Baozhu asked Song Sicheng about his studies in school in the afternoon.

Song Sicheng said: "My classmates are all willing to be friends with me. Zhu Xiaodong and Zhu Xiaoxi tried to snatch my candy, but were taught a lesson by Han Fei."

Zheng Baozhu asked: "Did you share the candies with your classmates?"

Song Sicheng nodded: "Yes, except for Zhu Xiaodong and Zhu Xiaoxi."

Song Zhiting came back and heard the conversation between the two. He said, "Friends who are bought with gifts are not true friends. You have to conquer others with your strength. Get up and run with me tomorrow morning."

Zheng Baozhu said: "He is only 6 years old, how can he keep up with your speed?"

Song Zhiting said: "My elder brother and I have been doing this since we were young. Sicheng is my son, so he can do it too."

Song Zhiting looked at his son: "Can you?"

Song Sicheng nodded solemnly: "I can!"

The father and son had reached a consensus, so Zheng Baozhu didn't say much.

After dinner, Song Zhiting showed no intention of leaving, so Zheng Baozhu asked him if he wanted to stay at home.

Song Zhiting nodded and said he would move to another room.

Zheng Baozhu asked Song Sicheng to live with him, but Song Sicheng was unwilling and insisted on following Zheng Baozhu.

It is normal for a six-year-old child to want to live with his mother, but Zheng Baozhu is not his biological mother, so she is somewhat uncomfortable with it.

He proposed a deal to Song Sicheng that as long as he lived with his father, he would be given candy every day.

Song Sicheng said: "If mom doesn't want to live with me, then she can live with dad. That's how it is at my uncle and aunt's house."

Zheng Baozhu: “Uh…”

Between Song Zhiting and Song Sicheng, Zheng Baozhu chose Song Sicheng.

The next day, before dawn, Song Sicheng was woken up by Song Zhiting to go jogging.

All Zheng Baozhu can do is to provide her child with sufficient nutrition.

When the father and son came back from jogging, there were only 10 minutes left before school time. Song Sicheng picked up the steamed buns that Song Zhiting had gotten from the cafeteria and was about to run out when he was stopped by Zheng Baozhu.

"You exercised so much in the morning, how can you eat just a steamed bun?"

Song Zhiting took another steamed bun and gave it to his son.

Song Sicheng said: "Dad, I can't finish two steamed buns."

Song Zhiting said: "Eat more so you can grow taller."

Zheng Baozhu came out from the kitchen, brought out two fried eggs, broke open Song Sicheng's steamed bun, put the eggs in it, and spread sauce on it.

Song Sicheng ate as he walked, and when he arrived at the classroom, he hadn't finished his steamed bun yet.

When his deskmate saw that his steamed buns had eggs in them, he envied her and asked, "Your family has such good food. You even have eggs in the morning. Did your sister make them for you?"

Song Sicheng said: "My mother made it for me."

The classmate who sat next to her didn't know Zheng Baozhu's identity said: "You are so lucky. You have a mother who loves you very much and a beautiful sister."

Song Sicheng said: "I don't have a sister."

"Wasn't it your sister who came to the classroom yesterday?"

“That’s my mother.”

When the classmates heard this, they all looked at Song Sicheng.

Zhu Xiaodong gloated after hearing this: "So it's your stepmother, you are so miserable!"
