Chapter 1 She is my daughter

The tiny baby was curled up in the womb, with a large head and a small body, an odd proportion, and somewhat ugly.

A mother doesn't mind her child's appearance. Yan Shi'an looked at the 4D ultrasound image of her child, gently stroking her high-protruding belly, her pale face beaming with a happy, maternal smile.

Kui Ziyu walked in carrying a teacup and asked with concern, "An'an, how are you feeling today?"

"Don't worry, Kui Kui is very well-behaved."

"Kui Kui? Is that our child's name?"

"Yes, Kui is the head, and Kui is the sunflower. I hope her life will be sunny and positive, and she will not be afraid of wind and rain."

Kui Ziyu smiled and narrowed her eyes, hiding the helplessness in them.

Kui means ghost fighting ghost, and Kui is similar to Gui. Gui water is extremely yin. This name is really not very good, but as long as An'an likes it and An'an is happy, that's all that matters.

He bent down, squatted beside Yan Shi'an, lifted the lid of the cup, and said, "After you finish this snake gall, you will gather all eighty-one generals. Once the snake immortal destiny is formed, you and Kui Kui will definitely be safe and sound."

Yan Shi'an looked at the bright red stain in the teacup, nodded slightly, and drank it all in one gulp without changing his expression.

The salty, fishy taste of fresh blood and the bitterness of snake gall fell down my throat and into my stomach.

Something seemed to be swimming in the amniotic fluid, stirring up the clear water and making it all murky.

The baby girl slowly opened her eyes, looking bewildered and vulnerable.

A red, strip-shaped object suddenly rushed towards her, piercing her forehead and turning into a water droplet mark with its ends connected.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a snake.

The baby girl seemed a little uneasy, clutching the umbilical cord with one hand and putting her thumb in her mouth with the other, sucking on it.

After calming herself down, she closed her eyes again.

One month later, on a rainy night.

"Ah!" A woman's cries of pain echoed from the VIP ward of the First Maternity Hospital of S City.

Yan Shi'an had been in labor for a day and a night, but the baby still wouldn't come out.

Kui Ziyu held her hand tightly, her eyes red-rimmed, wishing she could suffer this pain in her place.

He doesn't want children, not at all.

He regretted it; he shouldn't have been so soft-hearted and listened to his wife, which put her in danger and caused her great suffering.

"Boom!" Lightning flashed and thunder roared outside the window. In the blink of an eye, a dark figure suddenly appeared at the hospital entrance. When it reappeared, it was already at the nurses' station.

The dozing nurse was suddenly awakened. Her black raincoat was soaked with rainwater. She looked down into the rain but couldn't see the person's feet!

She glanced quickly at the clock opposite her; it was exactly midnight.

No... could it be a ghost?!

"Miss, how do I get to V1208? Miss, I'm asking you a question!" The man in black pulled off his raincoat, revealing his full appearance.

The young nurse breathed a sigh of relief; it turned out to be an elderly woman with gray hair.

After she gave directions, the old woman vanished from her sight in an instant.

The only evidence that someone had been here was the damp raincoat on the ground.

She was so startled that she rubbed her arms together, and suddenly felt the temperature around her drop several degrees.

"Dr. Xu, how about a C-section?" Kui Ziyu couldn't bear to see his wife suffer, so he called the doctor to examine her again.

Before the doctor could speak, an old woman's voice rang out: "No."

It was the old lady who had just asked the question downstairs.

"Mom, you're here." Kui Ziyu went to greet her, but the old woman didn't even glance at him and went straight to Yan Shi'an's bedside.

"mom……"

"Don't call me Mom. Giving birth is so difficult." The old woman had a stern face, her brows furrowed, and her deeply lined face looked somewhat frightening.

Yan Shi'an and Kui Ziyu dared not speak for a moment.

The doctor, with his extensive clinical experience, immediately imagined a family drama unfolding before his eyes.

But out of medical ethics, he still stepped forward and said to the old woman, "Auntie, your daughter-in-law is not doing well. In 24 hours, she has only dilated to two centimeters. At this rate, both the mother and the child are in danger."

"Cesarean section techniques are very advanced now, you see..."

The old woman glared at him. "She's my daughter."

Dr. Xu was both surprised and frightened, and immediately shut his mouth.

The old woman continued, "Get out. Don't come in unless I call you."

The doctor looked at Kui Ziyu somewhat helplessly, and the latter nodded slightly, indicating that he should go out first.

Since Yan Shi'an was registered, Dr. Xu has been in charge of his examinations. He couldn't bear to look at his patient.

He then looked at Yan Shi'an and said, "Miss Yan, you are still conscious and can take responsibility for yourself. You can sign the informed consent form for the surgery yourself. I will arrange the surgery immediately."

Before Yan Shi'an could speak, the old woman grabbed the pipe hanging from her waist and swung it at Dr. Xu.

Dr. Xu, who was kicked out of the house, sighed helplessly.

He had seen many wicked mothers-in-law, but mothers who disregarded their own daughters' lives were a minority.
