Chapter 144 Knowing One's Limits

Xiao Bai gritted her teeth, a struggle flashing in her red eyes beneath her long, drooping eyelashes.

He didn't answer, but instead flashed forward and rushed towards the cat-abusing man behind Kui Kui.

Xiao Bai was quick, but Kui Kui was even faster.

She grabbed the cat's tail behind Xiaobai with one hand.

"Meow!" Little White raised its head and meowed, then twisted its waist, turned around, and scratched Kui Kui's hand with one paw.

Kui Kui felt a sharp pain on the back of his hand, leaving several shallow bloodstains.

If her body hadn't been cleansed by the divine stone, Xiaobai's claw attack would have surely torn her skin and exposed the bone.

However, even though it hurt, Kui Kui did not let go, but instead pulled Xiao Bai back to her side with even more force.

"Don't you know what you can and can't do?"

Ignoring the rage bursting from Kui Kui's eyes, Xiao Bai roared back.

"This great immortal doesn't know, this great immortal only knows that I must kill this brat today! To avenge my people!"

Kui Kui looked at Xiao Bai's surging black energy and his ever-expanding body, and knew that Xiao Bai had gone mad and lost his mind.

Without further ado, he struck the man in the lower back with a palm strike.

That was his Achilles' heel, an Achilles' heel known only to Kui Kui.

Most of the black on his body dissipated, his body went limp, revealing his true form, his limbs hanging limply at his sides.

Upon seeing this, the man who had been abusing the cat slowly stood up from his curled-up position.

He rubbed his still-painful lower back with one hand and put the other on his hip, grinning and cursing, "I thought he was some big shot! He's just a little beast! Bah!"

Xiao Bai was filled with resentment. If he hadn't been too weak to fight, he would have pounced on him right now and torn this bastard to pieces!

He gritted his teeth and looked at Kui Kui with a hint of resentment.

Kui Kui didn't meet Xiao Bai's gaze, but instead glanced at the lifeless kitten on the ground, his eyes gradually turning cold and sharp.

She held Xiaobai in her arms, gently stroking its head with her hand, but her gaze was fixed on the man abusing the cat.

The cat abuser felt uneasy under Kui Kui's gaze. He took a half step back, swallowed hard, and said, "What do you want? Hitting people is illegal!"

"Abusing cats isn't illegal, is it?"

Kui Kui's voice was cold, and the cat-abusing man couldn't help but shiver.

Kui Kui continued, "This place is remote and there are no security cameras. You certainly know how to pick a spot."

As she spoke, she took a step forward.

Zhao Xiaoying snapped out of her daze, stepped in front of Kui Kui, and shook her head, saying, "Kui Kui, you can't."

"You can't just stand by and watch Master Bai make a mistake, and as your teacher, I can't stand by and watch you make a mistake either!"

"Teacher Zhao, I know what I'm doing."

Zhao Xiaoying sighed softly and stepped aside.

This student, who wasn't much younger than her, had never disappointed her.

She was still looking forward to seeing how Kui Kui would win people over with virtue, but unexpectedly, Kui Kui raised her foot and kicked the cat abuser right in the heart.

Those long legs, so fast and precise, were truly a feast for the eyes.

It went astray.

Before she could even speak to stop Kui Kui, Kui Kui raised her foot again and kicked the cat abuser directly in the stomach.

The cat abuser slammed heavily against the corner of the wall, kicking up a cloud of dust.

Kui Kui approached the cat abuser again and glanced down at him.

He clutched his stomach, trembling. A warm sensation came from his lower body; he didn't know if he had wet himself from fright or if his bladder had been kicked, causing him to lose control of his body.

He stared in fear at the excessively beautiful woman before him.

Kui Kui gently stroked Xiao Bai's fur and said, "I know you're upset. Are you feeling better now?"

"Mmm," Xiaobai responded softly.

Kui Kui knew exactly what he was thinking and continued, "What goes around comes around. The blackening on his forehead indicates that this isn't the first time he's done something like this, and his overall fortune has been affected."

"He is bound to suffer endless calamities. For him, death would be a relief."

"I never lie to you, think about it, isn't that right?"

"Hmm," Xiaobai responded again, still feeling somewhat unhappy.

Kui Kui sighed and said, "I'm sorry, I've been too busy lately and haven't been keeping an eye on you."

Xiao Bai's eyes reddened even more. "It's my fault for not listening to your advice and being too hasty. Silly Kui, you haven't done anything to me. While I'm still somewhat sober, just kill me!"

Kui Kui's nose tingled with emotion, and she said softly, "Don't worry, no matter what happens in the future, I will be with you."

He then turned to Zhao Xiaoying and said, "Teacher Zhao, Xiaobai isn't doing well, so I'll take him with me. There are still people with the cat, so I'll have to trouble you with them."

Watching Kui Kui's hurried departure, Zhao Xiaoying sighed, squatted down, and first buried the kitten's body.

The little orange kitten was very small, and Zhao Xiaoying buried it in just a short time.

She felt both sad and angry.

Although she was devoted to Master Hui, she fed stray cats quite often.

There are many adorable and friendly stray cats on campus, but beneath the surface of harmonious coexistence between humans and cats, there are always some people who can't be seen in the light of day.

While scolding Kui Kui for being impulsive, Zhao Xiaoying also admired her actions.

As a teacher, she couldn't take action, especially since the person was very likely a student at the school.

She sighed and took the cat abuser to the school clinic.

According to the school doctor's initial diagnosis, two ribs were broken.

Zhao Xiaoying cursed inwardly: I really didn't believe you! Is this what you call having a sense of propriety?

Meanwhile, Kui Kui was preparing to take Xiao Bai to Laoshan Mountain, where, according to legend, the last lineage of the Nine-Tailed Spirit Cat resided.
