Chapter 217 Old Pine Tree Unleashes Its Power

The Rainbow Sword emitted a dazzling light, causing the surrounding malevolent energy to retreat in fear.

Kui Kui gripped the sword hilt with both hands, wielding the longsword like a woodcutter's axe, and slashed fiercely down at the black bamboo.

"Bang!"

With a loud crash, the black bamboo snapped in two, but strangely, the section of bamboo that had just been chopped off quickly shed its demonic aura and gradually turned back into an ordinary bamboo.

Apart from its exceptionally large size, it has no other remarkable features.

The section of black bamboo deeply embedded in the ground still surged with demonic energy, even more so than before.

Kui Kui was thrown more than five meters away by the enormous impact.

She thought she would be seriously injured and cough up blood, but apart from a slight pain in her buttocks, she didn't feel anything else.

A soft "crack" sounded, as if something had broken.

Kui Kui felt a slight stinging pain on her forehead, and she subconsciously raised her hand to touch it.

There used to be a scar there, but then a divine stone appeared. After the divine stone disappeared, the scar was gone.

Now, there is only a tiny flower on Kui Kui's forehead. The flower has five petals, but it does not seem to be complete, with two small gaps.

The reverse scale that Mo Ye once planted on Kui Kui's forehead perfectly filled these two gaps.

The black triangular scales stood out awkwardly among the other colorful petals.

Now, however, cracks have appeared on these two scales.

The moment Kui Kui's fingers touched them, they shattered into several pieces and scattered outwards.

Kui Kui subconsciously reached out and grabbed a few fragments of the Reverse Scale in her palm.

When she opened her palm, those fragile fragments of her reverse scale shattered completely into powder, which was blown into the sky by the passing wind and disappeared.

She knew why she, who should have been seriously injured, was unharmed: Mo Ye had taken all the damage for her.

Kui Kui's beautiful eyes flashed with surprise, and she even felt a pang of sadness and bewilderment she had never experienced before. She couldn't help but worry about Mo Ye's safety.

Two petals, one purple and one yellow, suddenly sprouted, taking the place of the original reverse scale, representing surprise and sorrow, two of the seven emotions.

At this point, the seven emotions converged, the Seven Emotions Flower bloomed again, and Kui Kui became a human again, a person with flesh and blood and feelings.

From indifference to compassion, from compassion to indifference, and then from indifference to compassion again, Kui Kui's Dao heart has become increasingly stable.

However, Kui Kui didn't have much time to experience this change, or even to adjust his physical condition.

Because the half-cut black bamboo, emanating demonic energy, launched another attack.

This time, Hei Zhu went all out, unleashing a barrage of demonic energy that shot out one after another, transforming into deadly crescent moons.

Kui Kui hurriedly drew her sword and leaped up, landing on the ground and rolling twice. Her bright red fairy dress was covered in mud, making her look extremely disheveled.

The old pine tree that had been growing among her hair was also flung off.

Old Pine glanced at Kui Kui rolling around on the ground, frowned, and made a "囧" (embarrassed/awkward) expression.

He sensed the magnetic field around him; the intensity of the malevolent energy far exceeded that of the poisonous training ground that had nurtured him. Even he couldn't help but feel a little uneasy, if he wanted to.

Old Pine then looked at the black bamboo, which was emitting gurgling demonic energy.

He knew that a drop of kindness should be repaid with a spring of gratitude.

What about the debt of saving a life? We should repay it with our lives!

Thinking this, a determined light shone in the wood's eyes, and its two branches patted its trunk as if to encourage itself.

The little feet, covered in roots, ran off and stopped abruptly three meters away from the black bamboo. It then plunged its roots deep into the soil, which was filled with demonic and malevolent energy, and began to absorb nutrients from the soil.

The malevolent energy entered his body through his roots, and he felt alright, since he had grown up eating malevolent energy. However, demonic energy was completely unfamiliar to him.

The demonic energy was domineering and rampaged through his body, causing him unbearable pain.

He could only desperately absorb the evil energy, transform it into his own power, and then digest the demonic energy.

Although it was painful, its root system gradually became thicker and stronger, which made the old pine tree very happy.

In order not to disturb the black bamboo, the old pine did not transport the nutrients it absorbed upwards. Instead of growing branches and leaves, it developed rapidly and stealthily, with its fine roots extending outwards, even deliberately avoiding the roots of the black bamboo.

Seeing that the time was ripe, it was time to close the net!

Countless roots began to frantically absorb the evil and demonic energy, making even the air in the bamboo forest feel fresher.

A sliver of sunlight streamed in, dispelling the gloom and falling upon Kui Kui.

She ultimately could not escape all the demonic energy. After her seven emotions were restored, she felt that her spiritual power had become stronger, but her body's reaction was not as good as before.

Fortunately, she was also half a god, and the crescent-shaped demonic energy was faster than before, but its attack power was much weaker. When it cut her skin, it dissipated upon touching her blood.

Even so, Kui Kui's body was covered with countless wounds, large and small, deep and shallow, making him look increasingly disheveled.

Kui Kui looked at the old pine tree that had sprung up from the ground, his expression complicated.

The tree trunk was black, the branches were black, and even the leaves were as black as ink. The old pine tree, which had already mutated into a strange shape, had now become an absolute monster.

Kui Kui felt a pang of pity, but her resolve hardened even more. Ignoring the incoming demonic energy, she grabbed her Rainbow Sword and charged towards the section of black bamboo.

The demonic energy brushed across her cheeks and body, the blood making her fairy dress even more vibrant, and her stunningly beautiful face, stained with blood loss, glowed even more brightly in the sunlight.

Old Pine looked at Kui Kui and was so moved he almost cried, if he had tear ducts.

Teacher Kui is amazing! He truly is a role model for us all!

I'll give it my all! I'll inhale! Inhale! Inhale, inhale!
