Chen Situ trembled all over, his eyes rolled back to the sky, and he looked like he was about to die.
Looking at the vengeful spirit again, as its malevolent energy leaked out, its form slowly shrank, and its tangible body gradually became ethereal.
As she exhaled her last breath of malevolent energy, she became "invisible".
She cupped Chen Situ's face in her hands and kissed his forehead with deep affection.
Chen Situ stopped trembling, his breathing returned to normal, his eyelashes trembled, but he did not wake up.
The vengeful spirit gently supported his head, carefully placed it against the back of the chair, stood up, and looked at Kui Kui with a chilling gaze.
Kui Kui frowned and said, "Using malevolent energy to prolong his life, you are not saving him, you are harming him."
"I love him. If I don't save him, am I just going to watch him die?"
Jiang Tangzheng whispered to Kui Kui, "Do vengeful spirits also have romantic minds?"
No sooner had he finished speaking than he received a glare from the vengeful spirit.
If it weren't for the fact that his killing intent was currently weak and he was wary of Kui Kui, he would have already pounced on Jiang Tangzheng and torn him to pieces.
Jiang Tangzheng shivered and immediately hid behind Kui Kui.
Kui Kui didn't answer Jiang Tangzheng's question, but instead asked Xiao Li, "Did you kill those people?"
"Yes. Ordinary malevolent energy cannot save Si Tu; only the malevolent energy generated from the tragic deaths of members of the same clan can."
Chen Haiguo recalled the case files and found that, apart from his nephew, all the other victims were indeed surnamed Chen.
His eyes reddened, his gaze sharpened, and he gritted his teeth, saying:
"You killed so many innocent people to save one person, you deserve to die!"
The vengeful spirit scoffed, "I died a long time ago."
“You are dead, but Chen Situ is still alive.”
When the vengeful spirit heard Kui Kui mention Chen Situ, it immediately panicked.
She forced herself to say, "I killed him, what does it have to do with Si Tu?"
"Your actions are all due to him, and he will naturally bear some of the consequences."
Kui Kui glanced at Chen Situ and continued, "If the evil energy prolongs life, one will not find peace even after death."
"Shut up!" The vengeful spirit, enraged, turned its hands into claws and attacked Kui Kui.
Kui Kui stood with his hands behind his back, motionless.
The sharp fingernails were ten centimeters away from Kui Kui's face, and it was impossible to get any closer.
Kui Kui's hair on her forehead fluttered slightly, and the vengeful spirit, baring its teeth and grinning, flew backward, its body becoming even more transparent.
She vaguely heard the sound of bells coming from afar, paused for a second, and shouted, "I'm not leaving! I'd rather die than leave!"
The vengeful spirit's body suddenly swelled up, and it looked like it was about to get out of control.
A pair of hands reached out from behind the vengeful spirit and gently encircled her neck.
"Xiaoli, it's okay, I'll stay with you."
Xiaoli's pupils trembled, and her body seemed to deflate like a punctured balloon.
She touched the other person's hand and exclaimed in surprise, "Situ, you..."
Chen Situ nuzzled her neck gently and said softly, "Living is too painful. It's good like this now. I'm free."
Xiaoli burst into tears upon hearing this.
She knew Chen Situ's body wouldn't last much longer, but she didn't expect it to happen so quickly.
Chen Situ comforted her, and she now understood many things she hadn't wanted to think about before.
He wasn't completely unaware whether the person beside him in bed was human or a ghost.
He just loved her, so he turned a blind eye and chose not to look or think about it.
He looked at his bewildered father, his eyes filled with reluctance.
He looked to Kui Kui for help, "Please tell my father: take good care of yourself, I can no longer be there to fulfill my filial duties to him."
As he spoke, Chen Situ bowed to Kui Kui and then knelt before his father and kowtowed three times.
After all that was done, the ghost messengers arrived.
The ghost messenger bowed to Kui Kui and then prepared to handcuff Xiao Li and Chen Situ.
Xiaoli was about to struggle when she heard Chen Situ say from beside her, "Let me do it."
He handcuffed one end of the handcuffs to Xiaoli's hand and the other end to his own left wrist.
He took Xiaoli's hand, smiled at her, and Xiaoli relaxed, her face becoming calm as she returned the smile.
The two ghosts followed the ghost messenger further and further away.
"Chen Situ has left. He asked me to tell you to take good care of yourself, as he can no longer be there to fulfill his filial duties." After relaying the message, Kui Kui left first.
The door was closed, but it couldn't shut out the wailing from inside.
Kui Kui felt sad, but also missed the state of being alone without loneliness.
She misses her maternal grandmother and her mother.
She said goodbye to Chen Haiguo and Jiang Tangzheng and went home.
The room was empty; Mo Ye was nowhere to be found.
The once bright sky suddenly darkened.
Kui Kui frowned, a vague unease creeping into his heart.
The door was suddenly opened, and it was Kui Ziyu.
"Aoi, run!"
After saying those four words, he collapsed straight down in front of Kui Kui.
