Chapter 4: Meeting the Eldest Grandson

Wang Youcai let out a scream, clutched his lower body, and squatted down.

He shakily examined his injuries; there were three shallow bloodstains on his groin.

Thankfully, it veered off course, and the baby is alright!

He breathed a sigh of relief, straightened his pants, and said menacingly, "You beast! I'll kill you today!"

The black cat was very flustered and stumbled towards the mourning hall.

Inside the mourning hall, Old Lady Wang had already woken up.

She didn't know how long she had slept, but looking at the newly lit incense on the incense burner, a bad premonition flashed through her mind.

"KuiKui, did you light incense for your Grandpa Wang?"

A hint of smugness flashed in Kui Kui's eyes, and a smile appeared on her delicate and pretty face as she said, "Yes, I've lit it."

Old Mrs. Wang quickly stood up, walked to the coffin, and looked inside.

Wang Laosan, who should have had his eyes closed, had opened them at some point.

A layer of white mist covered his brown pupils.

This is clearly a precursor to zombie resurrection; simply put, it means the zombie is about to rise from the dead.

Old Mrs. Wang kept a straight face and muttered to herself, "Wang Laosan, I know you're a reasonable person."

"The dead cannot be brought back to life. After death, the bridge goes to the bridge, the road goes to the road, and children and grandchildren have their own blessings. Do not be greedy, go well!"

As if he had heard what Old Lady Wang said, Wang Laosan slowly closed his eyes.

Just as the door was about to close, Wang Youcai rushed in, clutching a piece of firewood, and shouted, "Damn beast! Where do you think you're going!"

The black cat panicked and jumped onto the stool, then used the momentum to leap onto the offering table.

With a whoosh, it darted into Wang Laosan's coffin.

The tiny bundle lay on Wang Laosan's chest, its fur soaking wet, looking quite pitiful.

Old Mrs. Wang thought to herself, "This is terrible."

The dead are most averse to cats, especially black cats.

Cats are said to have nine lives. When a cat passes by a corpse, the deceased can feel its call and borrow a life from the cat.

If the family members keeping vigil say a few comforting words, the deceased will rest in peace.

Conversely, due to their obsessions, they may become immortal monsters.

As time goes by, the soul dissipates, and the creature becomes unrecognizable to its own family, eating raw meat, drinking fresh blood, and even resorting to cannibalism.

Before Old Lady Wang could stop him, Wang Youcai had already picked up firewood, making a gesture to drive away the black cat in the coffin.

Upon witnessing this sudden change, Wang Laosan abruptly opened his eyes wide and sat up.

By sheer coincidence, the firewood landed on his head.

"Bang!"

"Stuttering!"

Wang Laosan's forehead was struck to the side by the firewood, and his stiff neck made a crisp sound, as if it had broken.

He tilted his head and looked coldly at Wang Youcai.

Wang Youcai turned pale with fright.

"Father...Father, I...I didn't mean it, I was wrong!" As he spoke, he hurriedly threw down the firewood, knelt down and kowtowed to Wang Laosan.

Wang Laosan stood up straight and straightened his head with both hands.

The next second, it fell to the other side.

Old Mrs. Wang sighed and said, "Third brother, why are you doing this? Youcai has already apologized to you. Go on your way."

Wang Laosan disregarded his own head and crawled out of the coffin using both his hands and feet.

Wang Youcai was so frightened that he crawled to Old Lady Wang's side.

The crotch was wet and yellow, and a foul smell of urine wafted into the noses of Old Lady Wang and Kui Kui.

"Wang the fortune teller, save me! Save me! I really didn't mean to."

Old Mrs. Wang glanced at Kui Kui, who was also tilting his head and staring at Wang Lao San.

The little girl wasn't afraid at all; her eyes were full of curiosity, and the snake mark on her forehead flashed by very quickly.

Wang Laosan's transformation into a zombie was largely due to the efforts of Wang Youcai and the Black Cat, but Kui Kui's incense was the real culprit.

Even if her celestial status was borrowed, it was still celestial status, something that ordinary people couldn't afford.

Grandma Wang naturally couldn't just walk away from the trouble her own granddaughter had caused.

She sighed and said, "If your father's wish is fulfilled, he will be able to go in peace."

Wang Youcai looked at his father, who had seemingly risen from the dead, and then at Old Lady Wang. His hands trembled as he grabbed her trouser leg and said, "Old Lady Wang, can't... can't we just put it out?"

Grandma Wang pried open her droopy eyelids, revealing a pair of bright, piercing eyes that were wide open.

She snapped, "He's your father! How dare you talk such nonsense!"

If it weren't for the fact that she's been careful with her words these past few years for the sake of Kui Kui, she would have started cursing long ago.

Wang Youcai trembled in fright, his eyes darting around as he asked, "Then...then...what is my father's wish?"

"Are you his son, or am I his son?" Old Mrs. Wang retorted irritably.

Wang Youcai was speechless for a moment. His father wanted him to be the top scholar in the imperial examination, but that was impossible right now!

"Alright, I'll ask Master Hu to come and ask." With that, he prepared to invite the spirit to possess him.

Kui Kui, who was standing nearby, suddenly said, "Grandpa Wang said he wants to see his eldest grandson."

Old Mrs. Wang paused, looking thoughtfully at Wang Laosan, and instantly understood.

Blood ties connect us across generations; may we cross mountains and reunite as family.

Wang Youcai quickly said, "I'll call my wife right now and have her bring the child over."
