The Forgotten

The Forgotten

Lin Yu felt the sudden obstruction above his head, and looked up in disbelief at the man. He was still smiling heartlessly.

"Why... did you come just now?" Lin Yu couldn't believe her eyes. She wasn't dreaming. It was Jiang Shuang. He really came back.

Jiang Shuang asked Lin Yu to hold the other end of the clothes and took out a tissue and handed it to her.

"I was just delivering something, and I saw your back, so I decided to come down and see if it was you. If it was, you'd have to go back in the rain."

Jiang Shuang smiled and said that he hadn't seen him for a few months and he looked a lot darker and stronger. Lin Yu remembered that he was three years older than her and should be almost eighteen this year.

"Jiang Shuang, I'm doing fine recently. I just went to eat mung bean soup, and my grades have improved rapidly." Lin Yu talked about her recent situation in a picky manner. After she finished speaking, she felt that her logic was a bit confusing. She was too excited.

Jiang Shuang was amused by her words, or rather, Jiang Shuang would laugh no matter what Lin Yu said: "Then I'll take you to eat mung bean soup more often, so that your grades will improve faster. Maybe next time you'll be number one in the school."

First in the school? The first in the school in this exam was Tao Xingye. Although she hated Tao Xingye, she had to admit that he was very smart.

For some reason, she seemed compelled to look behind her. In the distance, there was a person who got on the bus the moment she turned around.

The figure from behind looked very much like Tao Xingye, but it wasn't him. His family was so wealthy, and they had a driver to pick him up whenever he went out. How could the driver leave his young master out in the rain all alone?

"Jiang Shuang, next time you're delivering something, don't come looking for me mid-delivery. Work is more important." Lin Yu said seriously, "And take these clothes. I'll go take a shower if I get wet. You still have work to do soon, so you can't get wet."

Jiang Shuang didn't listen. He covered her head with the clothes tightly and took her to the campus: "There's no rush anyway. I'll take you back and I'll take the clothes."

Inside the car, the driver saw Tao Xingye still looking out the window, hesitating whether to start the car. Suddenly, his cold voice came from behind him: "What are you standing there for? Do you want me to teach you how to drive?"

After saying that, Tao Xingye sneezed. The air conditioning temperature in the car was very low. This has always been his habit. Wherever he is, the temperature is always freezing.

Raindrops dripped down his clothes onto the leather seat cushions. Tao Xingye stared at the water in a trance, the drops falling sparsely. The scene of the two of them tangling together just now resurfaced in his mind. Perhaps because of anger, the air around them became hot and dry.

Tao Xingye looked at the driver reproachfully: "Who told you to adjust the temperature?"

The driver knew that Tao Xingye was in a bad mood, so even though he didn't change the temperature, he pretended to adjust it himself.

It was not until the car stopped at the door that Tao Xingye's thoughts returned to reality.

After getting off the car, he heard his younger brother's voice as soon as he entered the door. Tao Xinghai is two years younger than him. He just came back from abroad this year and is about to take over part of the family business.

After his parents divorced, his mother He Fan took the newborn Tao Xinghai abroad, leaving him behind when he was less than three years old.

One of them follows his mother and the other follows his father. The number of times they have met can be counted on one’s fingers.

Tao Xingguo always felt that he owed his wife, and this debt was passed on to Tao Xinghai.

To be honest, although Tao Xingye is not close to his younger brother, he does not reject him either.

Although his younger brother always regarded him as a competitor and repeatedly provoked him when their father was not around, perhaps because they had the same blood in their bones, no matter how cold he was, he would never hate Tao Xinghai.

His clothes were wet, so while he went upstairs to change, Tao Xingguo took his youngest son to the wine cellar to pick out some wine.

At dinner in the evening, Tao Xingguo sat in the middle, and the two sat on his left and right.

Tao Xinghai kept talking about his boring experiences abroad. Tao Xingye got a headache listening to him. He drank glass of red wine one after another. By the time he realized he had drunk too much, it was too late.

He was a good drinker. Even when he was drunk, he would just sit quietly with his eyes closed and rest. Besides, he was not particularly drunk at the moment.

He no longer had the patience to sit at the table and play the father-son drama with Tao Xinghai. Tao Xingguo had grown older and began to yearn for family affection, but for him, who had been neglected since childhood, it was already past time, and there was no going back to the past.

Without saying hello, Tao Xingye stood up and walked upstairs.

The room was still cold, a temperature he had long since grown accustomed to. Looking around the room, the only thing that seemed out of place was the unusually girlish diary on the desk.

This is Lin Yu's diary. On New Year's Day, Xu Meihan stole the diary while Lin Yu was away. He witnessed everything from the back door of the classroom, but he did not stop it.

On the first day of school, the diary was tossed around and finally fell into the hands of a boy. He paid for the diary, but was too lazy to throw it in the trash can, so he just left it on the table.

He picked up the diary in a daze, and when he flipped through it, he saw Jiang Shuang's name. He was really hypocritical. He said that he didn't like Jiang Shuang, but the diary was full of her name.

He became more and more upset as he read the diary. Tao Xingye couldn't help but open the safe in the room and throw the diary in it, so that he wouldn't have to worry about it.

Lock it up so he can't see or touch it, and he won't be bothered.

The room was unusually quiet, perhaps because the air conditioning temperature was too low. He felt like he was back in this afternoon, standing alone in the rain.

Matters of the heart are strange. Even in the dead of night when no one knows, he doesn't want to think about that person's name any more.

It seems that as long as I recite it in my mind, it will be discovered, even though being discovered is not a big deal.

But it seems that due to family reasons, he is not good at dealing with any emotions that are beyond his cognitive limits, and the uncontrollable emotions make him suffer.

Therefore, he almost resolutely imprisoned himself, preferring to walk indifferently and alone. He got along well with his classmates, but he was only gentle on the surface, and no one could truly understand his heart.

"Lin Yu" he murmured her name unconsciously, and her smiling face appeared in his mind.

For the first time, the girl showed him a smile. She slowly walked to his side, took his hand, and said something.

Tao Xingye couldn't hear clearly and wanted her to say it again, but the girl turned and left without stopping because of his call.

Outside the house came the sound of his father and Tao Xinghai going upstairs. Tao Xinghai was drunk, and Tao Xingguo was worried about his youngest son, so he helped him up himself.

"Dad, I'm not drunk, I'm happy." Tao Xinghai said as he was about to go downstairs to continue drinking.

Tao Xingguo found the warmth of family in his youngest son's almost coquettish words. He happily and comforted his youngest son in a gentle voice, asked him to go into the house, and covered him with a quilt with his own hands before going downstairs.

When Tao Xinghai saw the door closed, the drunken look on his face disappeared instantly. He stood up and straightened his clothes in front of the mirror. Without waiting for Tao Xingye's consent, he directly opened the door of his room.

Unexpectedly, Tao Xingye seemed to be waiting for him, sitting on the single sofa, and did not react when he walked in.

Tao Xinghai's thoughts were interrupted by the visitor. In a daze, he realized that he was dreaming. If it wasn't a dream, how could Lin Yu be willing to smile at him.

"You also understand my father's attitude towards me. I don't have as deep feelings for you two, but I will slowly catch up with you. Don't even think about encroaching on my assets."

Tao Xinghai spoke very firmly, but his expression seemed too serious, which made him look a little immature. This immature look made Tao Xingye laugh involuntarily.

"How dare you look down on me?" Tao Xinghai stepped forward and pulled up Tao Xingye. The man's body seemed to have been weakened and he was unable to stand up. Tao Xinghai smelled a strong smell of alcohol on him and realized that he must be drunk.

"You are so serious even when you are drunk. A boring person like you will not be liked by others." Tao Xinghai let go of his hand and let him sit back on the sofa. He turned around and walked a few steps, then turned back helplessly and took out a blanket to cover him.

In the dim light, Tao Xingye huddled on the sofa. His cat darted into his arms and rubbed against him.

Tao Xingye's mind once again flashed with Lin Yu's image, and then it froze on the award ceremony long ago.

She was dressed neatly in a white school uniform. Her skin was still dark, and her hair was never loose, always tied up with a shabby black rubber band.

The next day, when Tao Xingye woke up from the sofa, he looked at the stain between his legs with a frown on his face. It was so fucking embarrassing!!!

On Monday, Lin Yu went to her seat as usual, but a girl suddenly stopped her and pointed to the last row in a condescending manner, "That's where your seat is."

"Did you touch my things?" Lin Yu hadn't communicated with anyone for a long time, and his speech was abnormally slow.

The girl didn't answer, rolled her eyes at her and sat back in her seat.

Tao Xingye came into the classroom just in time, and greeted the girl with a faint smile, as if he didn't see her.

Lin Yu clenched her fingers. It couldn't be better that Tao Xingye was willing to let her go.

"My schoolbag is at your feet. Please hand it to me." Lin Yu moved to the girl's side.

To be precise, the schoolbag was not under the girl's feet, but on Tao Xingye's side.

Tao Xingye seemed not to hear it, but his eyes, which were cast on the table, became colder and colder.

"My schoolbag, please hand it to me." Lin Yu repeated it again, and for some reason, he became a little stuttering.

Tao Xingye found it irritating and looked up at Lin Yu with disdain in his eyes.

Lin Yu was so shaken by his gaze that he lost his balance and took two steps back before calming down.

Tao Xingye withdrew his gaze. The girl bent down impatiently to take it, but Tao Xingye glared at her.

Realizing something, the girl stood up and said, "Come and get it yourself."

She leaned against the table with her arms folded, looking like she was watching a show.

Lin Yu's worn blue cloth bag was right under the desk, just a few inches away.

Lin Yu bit her lip and hesitated for almost half a minute before she mustered up the courage to slowly walk over and squat on the ground to pick up the pens and papers that had been spilled.

Tao Xingye didn't look at Lin Yu, but his eyes fell on her uncontrollably. She didn't say a word, maybe she just wanted to get away from him as soon as possible?

Lin Yu picked up the pen that had fallen to the ground with a distressed look on his face. The pen cap had been thrown off, and ink was oozing out of the pen tip.

"My pen is broken, you have to compensate me." Lin Yu held the pen, squatted on the ground and looked up at the girl.

The girl was about to say something when a teasing voice came from the side.

"Compensate you? Lin Yu, have you forgotten that you still owe me medical expenses?"
