ungrateful person
When Lin Yu woke up, Tao Xingye was making breakfast. There were dark circles under his eyes. It was not known if it was due to the light or something else, but his chin was bruised and he looked a little disheveled.
"Come and eat." His voice was not deep, but very hoarse, and he looked like he would be speechless in the next second. Tao Xingye poured a bowl of soup and placed it on the table, then lowered his head and went back to the kitchen.
The dishes were all prepared in advance, and he waited for Lin Yu to come out and cooked them for her. In less than half an hour, he had two dishes ready and placed them in front of Lin Yu. Without saying a word, he took off his apron and went to the bedroom.
When Tao Xingye came out again, he had changed into a very formal black suit. Lin Yu was holding a bowl and drinking soup. He looked at the man for almost half a minute, but he still didn't look up. A trace of unwillingness flashed across his eyes. "I'll come back to cook for you in the evening. You rest well at home. I..."
Lin Yu dropped the bowl, stood up and walked towards the bedroom.
The door slammed shut, leaving only Tao Xingye alone in the empty room. Lin Yu didn't touch a single bite of the food he cooked, and only drank a little of the soup. What was Lin Yu trying to do?
"Come out for dinner!" His voice was filled with anger. He stood in front of Lin Yu's bedroom door and kept knocking. Time passed by minute by minute, and the person inside did not respond at all. But he had to meet a client at eight o'clock.
He lost his patience and turned the doorknob to force his way in, but the door was opened from the inside and Lin Yu squeezed past him with a canvas bag on his back.
"If you don't want to eat, I won't cook anymore." Tao Xingye threatened, grabbing Lin Yu's shoulders and forcing her to stop. However, Lin Yu calmly pried his fingers apart, "I didn't ask you to do it."
Her indifferent look broke through Tao Xingye's last line of defense. The breath he had been holding back from last night until morning could no longer be suppressed, and all his tears flowed out.
Tao Xingye, a grown man, leaned against the door panel and cried non-stop, but Lin Yu stayed out of it. She checked her cloth bag and didn't look at Tao Xingye, letting him cry non-stop.
When Tao Xingye raised his eyes again, Lin Yu had already walked to the door, which was half open.
"You have no conscience. I shouldn't have married an ungrateful person like you."
"Is this the first day you realized I have no conscience?" Lin Yu sneered, "It's not too late for you to divorce me now, but I have to be the one to initiate it. After all, I just had a miscarriage and am still protected by the law."
She said that and slammed the door shut. Tao Xingye felt like a joke. The strength he had accumulated all night disappeared without a trace. His legs were so heavy that he could hardly lift them.
The phone rang, it was the assistant.
He hung up the phone, quickly cleared the table and rushed to the company.
Lin Yu had just boarded the bus when she saw the familiar black car pull out of the intersection. The driver was driving very fast, and the face behind the glass was overly delicate, with a cold look. The black car quickly disappeared into the traffic flow. Later, it should still be in her sight, but she couldn't make it out.
Her nose felt sour, and she suddenly felt that Tao Xingye should keep such a distance from her. He was the eldest son of Jincheng Tao Group, and she was nothing.
By some strange coincidence, I became involved with him. Sometimes we were very close, and sometimes we had heated arguments.
She never thought that she would be involved in such an indecent relationship. Even if she had some unclear feelings for Tao Xingye, did that allow him to hurt her unscrupulously?
The pain he caused her was no less than that of her parents who had neglected her for nearly fifteen years.
Tao Xingye, Tao Xingye. Lin Yu murmured this man's name, but what emerged before her was his faint smile. Her physical fragility also brought down her heart. Lin Yu suddenly decided to ignore everything else, regardless of whether Tao Xingye really loved her or was really cheating on her.
She wanted to find him, wanted him to hug her, and wanted to have some warmth.
But the bus kept moving forward. She had already made her decision, hadn't she? The bus stopped at every stop, but she didn't have the courage to get up.
Lin Yu opened her phone and looked at the one-way ticket to Germany, tears streaming down her face. She sent the edited divorce agreement to Tao Xingye's email.
She didn't have the courage to tell him in person, so she ended this hasty marriage. It would be great to go to Germany. With her talent, she would be respected as a "forest worker" in the near future.
It's better than being like this now, being restricted by Tao Xingye in every way, and having to endure his disloyalty, his anger, and everything about him.
The more Lin Yu thought about it, the more she hated herself for leaving without a backbone. She felt that she should stay and continue to torture Tao Xingye. It would be best if she could use up the last bit of love he had for her and then occupy his position as his wife.
There was a sharp friction sound as the bus was stopped by a black car rushing out from the intersection. Everyone in the car fell forward and a discussion broke out instantly.
They watched a man in a suit and tie get out of the driver's seat. Before he could get close, several policemen ran up and formed a human wall to stop him.
The man struggled forward, his whole body tilted, veins bulging on his forehead, his eyes fixed on a certain place.
Lin Yu's breath hitched as she met the man's gaze through the glass. She could clearly read his lips: he was saying, "I disagree." She twitched her lips at him, a smile that only Tao Xingye couldn't accept. The bus slowly started moving, and she watched Tao Xingye struggle again. Lin Yu clutched the cloth bag tightly, a breath stuck in her chest.
The emotions in the man's eyes became more and more serious. The next moment, he raised his fist and swung it towards his cheek. His strength was so strong, like a gust of wind, and without any hesitation, a red wound instantly appeared on his fair skin.
No one could react, and he followed up with another punch.
"Stop! Stop!" Lin Yu stumbled, the car shaking, and she almost fell as she ran to the door. She rushed to Tao Xingye, who was already being held in fists by the police, with his arms pinned behind his back. Despite the severe wounds on his face, there was a smug look in his eyes.
"You're crazy." Realizing his purpose, Lin Yu stopped and turned around.
Tao Xingye somehow managed to pull himself together and break free from the three or four policemen. He hugged Lin Yu, and they both fell to the ground.
Lin Yu rested her head on him, and Tao Xingye held her wrists tightly with both hands like two iron chains. He laughed again, but reluctantly, "Lin Yu, I said I don't agree."
Several policemen rushed over to pull the two apart, but Tao Xingye refused to let go of Lin Yu's hand. They were both taken into the police car. Tao Xingye's forehead was sweating for some reason. Lin Yu sat next to Tao Xingye and could only hear him gasping for air.
When Tao Xinghai rushed over, he saw his brother sleeping on Lin Yu's legs. How could his brother and sister-in-law become so quarrelsome after just a few days of not seeing each other?
"My brother is childish, sister-in-law, why are you following suit? Don't you know how big of a rip-off it will have if he's a CEO and has a criminal record?"
Tao Xinghai kicked his brother awake, "Can you please walk on your own? You're so bruised all over your face, how could you have hit him so hard?"
Tao Xingye opened his eyes, stunned for a moment, then slowly straightened up, holding his waist. His strange appearance immediately caught Tao Xinghai's attention. Tao Xinghai reached out to touch his back, and his palm was wet. When he raised his palm, he saw that it was stained with reddish-brown blood.
"you……"
"Shut up." Without waiting for Tao Xinghai to speak, Tao Xingye shouted coldly, and with a threatening look in his eyes, he stopped him from finishing his words.
Tao Xingye endured the pain and stood up, feeling cold all over. He held Lin Yu's wrist tightly and refused to let go. The assistant was already waiting outside the police station. Tao Xingye held Lin Yu's shoulders and pushed her into the car, then got in himself.
"Drive." After saying this, Tao Xingye lay on Lin Yu's legs again. The only difference was that the breath in his voice was heavier.
In the dim carriage, the wound on his face looked even more hideous, with faint dark bruises emerging from his flesh. It was just as Tao Xinghai had said, it was a pity that he could use such heavy hands.
"You don't have to play this trick on me. If I don't leave today, I can leave tomorrow." Lin Yu pushed Tao Xingye's shoulder and wanted him to leave, but the man groaned and buried his whole face in her legs.
After a while, the man finally spoke, his voice weak and indifferent, "Lin Yu, do you think I will give you a second chance to go abroad?" He turned his face to the side and lay flat on Lin Yu's legs again, looking up at her, his hand still stroking her lips.
"You only have one chance. If you don't leave, you will be tied to me forever." He suddenly laughed and shook Lin Yu's wrist back and forth. The car stopped in front of an office building. Tao Xingye straightened up with the strength of his arms, pulled Lin Yu out of the car and walked upstairs.
Many people along the way recognized Tao Xingye, but they were too afraid to approach and greet him because of the scars on his face. Even Tao Xingye would get annoyed by being looked at with strange eyes. The pressure around him dropped noticeably. Lin Yu took a small step forward, and the man suddenly tightened his grip on his wrist. "What are you doing?"
He was so alert, as if he was afraid that Lin Yu would run away again. Only he knew that with his current physical condition, if Lin Yu ran away, he would never be able to catch up.
Lin Yu was too lazy to pay attention to him. She just walked in front of him and blocked his face with her body.
"Little ungrateful bastard." Tao Xingye cursed, and the two of them got on the elevator one after the other. Tao Xingye seemed unable to stand straight, and leaned against the wall as soon as he entered the elevator. Lin Yu rolled her eyes at him.
The elevator opened, and the person on the other side was obviously a little surprised, but after all, he was professional, and he quickly recovered and leaned forward, raised his hand and guided Tao Xingye to the office, "Boss Liu is waiting for you inside."
Lin Yu was stunned, then realized that Tao Xingye had come to someone else's territory to discuss business. He had such an obvious wound on his face, didn't he feel uncomfortable at all?
Without waiting for his reaction, Tao Xingye pushed the door open and walked in, a standard smile immediately appearing on his face, "Brother Liu, please forgive me, my wife has made some mistakes recently and has to stick to me."
As he spoke, he raised his wrist, which was clasped with Lin Yu's. His grip was so elegant that if you didn't look closely it looked like Lin Yu was actively holding his hand.
Lin Yu was about to retort when she saw the ingratiating smile on Tao Xingye's face, and her heart stabbed. Both of his eyes were covered with ridiculous bruises, and his suit was wrinkled from the struggle just now. Why did they have to come to discuss business at this time? Could it be that the self-torture trick had to go to this extent?
"Mr. Tao, you're joking. I'm so envious. Sit down." Liu Quan raised his hand and pointed at the chair opposite him, making no move to greet him. Lin Yu felt a little indignant for Tao Xingye. How could Tao Xingye's career be so backward? The person opposite him didn't look much older than him.
Her wrist hurt, and in a blink of an eye, Tao Xingye's eyes were full of threats and warnings. He snorted coldly and sat down opposite Liu Quan. There was only one chair, and Lin Yu had nowhere to sit. She didn't want to be an eyesore in the office, so she was about to walk out when Tao Xingye pinched her calf without saying a word.
"What do you think, Brother Liu?" Tao Xingye's eyes unconsciously revealed a bit of expectation, and this expectation made Tao Xingye seem particularly vulnerable.
When did someone like him ever need to expect, or even crave, a response from others? Yet, the person on the other side remained silent and smiled, seemingly deliberately trying to whet Tao Xingye's appetite.
Lin Yu glared at the man. Liu Quan naturally noticed her gaze and, intending to sow discord between them, he said in a deliberately ambiguous tone, "Why are you looking at me like that, sister-in-law?"
"I..." Lin Yu was interrupted by Tao Xingye before he could even open his mouth.
"Brother Liu, you're joking. Last night I specifically told her that there's a Fu Rui on your face. She must be looking for that Fu Rui, right?" Tao Xingye held Lin Yu's waist with tenderness in his eyes. "Did you find it?"
Lin Yu was completely bewildered, having no idea what Fu Rui was. Liu Quan, eager to join in the fun, asked, and they both looked at her. Lin Yu was now determined to find out.
Lin Yu looked at Liu Quan's face back and forth. Her eyes were so serious. Tao Xingye's lips were tight and the strength of his hands suddenly increased.
"Found it!" Lin Yu raised his voice and breathed a sigh of relief. "It's under Brother Liu's eye. There's a small birthmark there that looks like a gold ingot."
Tao Xingye's eyes were unclear, but there was a smile on his face, "You looked very carefully." The birthmark was similar in color to Liu Quan's skin, but the size of a grain of rice. Even people who were familiar with Liu Quan might not be able to notice it.
Liu Quan smiled silently. He took out a document that he had prepared long ago and handed it to Tao Xingye. "This is the greatest sincerity I can offer. It depends on whether Master Tao can accept it."
Tao Xingye took the document, and Lin Yu glanced down at it. It was a dense mass of words, with a table attached at the end. As usual, she did some mental calculations. Having worked on WuXi Jiansheng's projects before, she knew the typical profit margins for medical devices. Liu Quan's offer today was nearly a third lower.
Tao Xingye raised his eyes and met Liu Quan's gaze. There was a turbulent undercurrent between the two of them. After a long while, Tao Xingye closed the file and a smile appeared on his face. "I need to go back and study it further. Brother Liu, don't you mind?"
"Of course not." Liu Quan also had a smile on his face, "I have other guests, so I won't keep you and this..." Liu Quan's eyes fell on Lin Yu, "Sister."
Tao Xingye grabbed Lin Yu's wrist and stood up to walk out, not caring about the pain in his waist. His steps were fast, but he heard Liu Quan's voice again from behind him.
"But there are a lot of people competing for this project. Maybe in a few days, another company will compete for it. After all, there are many companies that are agents for medical devices in Jincheng. Mr. Tao's son is still a newcomer at best."
Liu Quan laid back on the chair, resting his head on his palms, swaying back and forth. He had previously refused to believe the Tao family's announcement that they were severing ties with their eldest son, but now he had no choice but to believe it.
"Master Tao." Liu Quan stood up and picked up the document. "There's no time to waste. I'd rather work with you than those old hands." He picked up the document. "Where's Master Tao?"
Lin Yu stood beside Tao Xingye and could clearly see the veins on his forehead bulging from exerting too much force. He gritted his teeth and paused for about three or four seconds before speaking. A smile appeared on his face again, but that smile was not pure, it was a disguise.
Tao Xingye turned around and took the document. The pure black fabric of his suit on the back was stained with something and it was flashing. Lin Yu stared at it for a long time but couldn't make out anything.
Tao Xingye turned around with the documents in his hand and saw Lin Yu looking at somewhere with a stiff gaze. He followed her line of sight and saw that it was not Liu Quan or someone else?
Thinking of the look she had given Liu Quan just now, Tao Xingye's face froze. He said hello to Liu Quan and walked out holding Lin Yu's hand.
The elevator door closed. Tao Xingye steadied himself against the wall and said coldly, "Liu Quan doesn't like your type. I like you, do you really think you're such a hot commodity?"
"Oh." Lin Yu was too lazy to pay attention to Tao Xingye. The little sympathy she had felt for him just now disappeared without a trace. She glanced at Tao Xingye's overly pale face. She should really thank Tao Xingye. If he hadn't acted to deceive her, she would really be stunned by this kind of sad drama in the future.
"Help me." Tao Xingye's forehead was sweating, and he raised his hand to Lin Yu.
Lin Yu hated his use of physical contact to assert his dominance, so she deliberately moved a little further away from him to avoid him touching her. With her back to Tao Xingye, she didn't notice the fragility that flashed across his eyes.
He was indeed very good at concealing it, but he returned to normal in an instant.
Lin Yu was the first to exit the elevator, and Tao Xingye followed behind, taking surprisingly slow steps.
Seeing that Tao Xingye didn't catch up with her, Lin Yu was about to run to the side, but a burly man blocked her way. When she came to her senses, her wrist had been grabbed by someone.
Tao Xingye intensified his attack, pressing his entire weight onto her. Lin Yu had never seen a man who was so good at torturing others. "Don't you know how heavy you are? You're almost crushing me."
Tao Xingye looked at her, wanting to say something but stopping himself, then finally took his weight off her.
He was only willing to show a little vulnerability in front of Lin Yu. Even if the bodyguard next to him seemed like a better choice, he would rather endure the pain and walk the last part of the journey alone.
The vehicle stopped at the hospital. Tao Xingye sent the driver and bodyguards to look after Lin Yu. He also called two more girls to go with Lin Yu for the examination, and he went to the orthopedics department to take an X-ray alone.
He pounced on Lin Yu so hard that he slid on the ground for a long time before stopping. He hit his waist against something and the pain almost made him faint.
