Chapter 12
In the middle of the night, Qin Yue opened the door and saw a very ugly face.
And he said something foul: "How many years will you doctors be sentenced for turning off your cell phones?"
Qin Yue understood Yun Linai's silent curses thoroughly, "Sorry, sorry, the battery must be out."
As a doctor, Qin Yue was a light sleeper, but when he opened the door and saw Yun Lin'ai holding someone, he was surprised: "He asked you to lead the way?"
Yun Linai walked in and carried the unconscious man in his arms to the sofa in the room. He said casually, "I found it in the corridor."
After hearing this, Qin Yue narrowed his eyes and stared at Yun Linai's back as if he had discovered something huge, but he still stepped forward to check Shi Yu's body first.
"I have a slight fever."
Qin Yue felt a little guilty for his carelessness just now, "I need an intravenous infusion. I'll finish it here before leaving."
Shi Yu didn't wipe the cold sweat off his forehead, and just curled up on the sofa. The blanket on his body was the one that Yun Lin'ai had just turned out and covered him with. Now he looked more and more like a homeless stray cat.
Yun Lin'ai said nothing, but said, "I'll carry him back. After the infusion, you go to his room to remove the needle."
Thinking that he was the one who made the mistake first, Qin Yue immediately agreed for the sake of his high salary, and even personally carried the IV back to Shi Yu's room.
"But your wound is about to split, remember to come over later to disinfect and change the dressing." Qin Yue paused as if thinking of something, and finally waved his hand helplessly, "Goodbye, I'll come over in person later, so you won't have to bother coming."
Yun Lin'ai didn't say anything, and Shi Yu's room became quiet again.
The person on the bed frowned, probably having a stomachache. Half of his cheek was pressed against the pillow, making it slightly red. Because of the fever, his pale lips were slightly open and he was breathing softly.
Yun Lin'ai turned his head and inadvertently hit his right leg.
Less than half of the infusion was over when Shi Yu, who had fainted from the pain, woke up again. His vision was a little blurry at first, but he still recognized Yun Lin'ai's figure.
"Sorry to trouble you again."
Yun Lin'ai was flipping through the book on the bedside table. Medicine was obscure and difficult to understand, and he didn't understand how Shi Yu could continue reading.
He raised his head when he heard the voice. He didn't answer but stood up and checked the speed of the drip. Then he sat down again and found that the other person's eyes were moving around following his movements. Even after being discovered, he didn't avoid it and just looked at him blankly.
Yun Linai asked him, "Aren't you tired of staring at me like that?"
Shi Yu seemed to think that staring at someone was indeed impolite, so he looked away: "Why are you still here?"
"I'm afraid you'll faint and no one will find you." Yun Lin'ai gave a very reasonable answer.
Shi Yu felt that what he said was not very pleasant, but he still agreed with it. If he really lost consciousness, it would be a big trouble.
The hand that was placed on the quilt for the IV drip was frozen stiff, so he raised his arm to put it under the quilt to warm it up, but a hand reached out and suddenly grasped his palm from under it, stopping him from moving.
"What do you want?"
A wave of warmth came from under his palm, and Shi Yu moved his fingers uncomfortably: "I didn't mean to take anything, my hands are just a little cold."
Yun Linai misunderstood his intention, but there was no embarrassment on his face. He calmly took Shi Yu's hand and put it under the quilt: "Don't move your hands in there."
Shi Yu said obediently, "I know."
Later on, he didn't ask Yun Lin'ai when he would go back to rest. His body temperature gradually rose and his stomachache eased slightly, but he felt a little drowsy. When Qin Yue came to remove the needle, he fell asleep again. When he opened his eyes again, Yun Lin'ai had already left his room.
I don’t know why, but when I see an empty house, I always feel a sense of emptiness in my heart. It’s hard to describe and I can’t find the answer.
The night was as dark as ink, and the moonlight shone through the half-closed curtains, casting a cold light and adding a touch of mysterious silver to the quiet space. The air seemed to be filled with pheromones left by Yun Lin'ai, intertwined with the night breeze that drifted in, outlining an indescribable emotion.
The flower fence was half open, and a brief burst of warm light appeared after the rainy day, giving the hyacinths that had not yet bloomed in the corner a little warmth. As expected, Shi Yu kept his eyes open until dawn.
I spent the whole night thinking about it but couldn't figure out why I behaved so abnormally when I met Yun Lin'ai. Even those lengthy medical books were easier to understand than this one.
At this time, the restaurant was occupied by only the busy housekeeper and the aunt. Seeing Shi Yu getting up so early, they were surprised: "Mr. Shi, didn't you sleep well last night?"
Shi Yu had a habit of feeling awkward when meeting strangers, so he quickly waved his hands: "No, no, I slept well."
At this time, Yun Lin'ai just came out of the elevator and leisurely turned to the restaurant in his electric wheelchair. He caught a glimpse of the dark circles under Shi Yu's eyes and happened to hear what he said.
"No one would believe it if I told them."
The voice of the protagonist that he had been thinking about all night sounded behind him. Shi Yu froze for a moment, not knowing what expression to use to face him. It seemed that he would always be seen through in front of Yun Lin'ai, exposed to the other party without any cover, and had nowhere to hide.
"Master, you didn't sleep well either. You look so bad."
Yun Lin'ai didn't look too well, his lips were pale, and he always paused when he raised his right hand. When he hugged someone in the middle of the night, the wounds on his hands and chest were a little cracked. Qin Yue disinfected him again, and the pain made him unable to sleep well in the second half of the night, but he always tried to be strong.
"Yeah, I recognize my bed."
housekeeper:"?"
I've never heard the young master say he was used to his bed when he came home before.
"So... is this also why Mr. Shi is so particular about his bed?"
Shi Yu, who had been concentrating on being invisible, raised his head after taking a sip of soy milk. He looked at Yun Linai and then at the housekeeper, and could only hide the truth and said embarrassedly, "Just a little."
The housekeeper immediately expressed her understanding and said, "It should be because the sheets we purchased these days have been replaced. I will have Auntie go to your rooms and replace them with the set that the young master is used to."
Shi Yu, who never wanted to bother others, immediately became like a frightened cat, "No... no need to change! It's too much trouble. Just change his room. I'm not uncomfortable with it!"
There was soy milk foam on his upper lip, and he looked nervous and panicked. Yun Lin'ai suspected that he was a cat in disguise.
He couldn't help but exert a little force on his curled up hand, and one of his arms was pressed down from the side. Yun Lin'ai was still sitting in the wheelchair. He raised his re-bandaged right hand and pressed it on his forearm. He glanced at him with his raised eyes, then sighed, which made Shi Yu's heart tremble inadvertently.
"You."
There was a hint of helplessness in his tone. He didn't know if it was Shi Yu's illusion or what, but the corners of the other person's mouth rose slightly, but when he looked closely, it disappeared.
At this time, the housekeeper explained: "It is the cleaning lady's job to change the sheets every day. Don't think it is troublesome."
Shi Yu felt that he was exaggerating a bit. Living in someone else's house was already bad enough. For the first time, he felt that his future might really be worrying.
It was getting late, and the people living in the manor had come downstairs one after another. When I went to see Yun Lin'ai again, he was already eating calmly with his head down.
After dinner, Old Master Yun called Yun Lin'ai to the study again, and Yun Lin'ai played a game of chess with him.
"I heard from the housekeeper that it was Shi Yu who helped most of my flowers survive yesterday's rain?" The old man had never asked about Shi Yu's background, but he had been strategizing in the business world for so many years that he could see through people, so he didn't say much about the person Yun Lin'ai brought back.
Yun Lin'ai didn't react much after hearing this: "You'd better build a greenhouse to be safe."
The flower grower was suddenly unhappy: "Flowers love sunlight, don't deprive them of their love."
At this moment, both of them seemed to have something in mind. Yun Lin'ai raised his hand and made a move: "But if I let it go completely, I won't be able to keep it alive. The flower is too delicate."
"Therefore, we need to strengthen the prevention and control measures in the surrounding area and anticipate the possible consequences of rainy days in advance, so that we won't be too flustered when the time comes." The old man said earnestly.
Yun Lin'ai glanced at the old man opposite him who had already seen through everything, and lowered his eyes, not knowing what he was thinking.
In the end, the cunning old man won the chess game. He drank a sip of tea happily and said, "Flowers can be raised again after they wither, but people can't..."
The sunlight forced Yun Lin'ai to squint his eyes, and in the blink of an eye he saw a cat admiring the flowers downstairs by the window. It seemed to be very curious about all kinds of flowers, and often poked them with its fingers lightly, then carefully retracted its claws.
Yun Lin'ai felt like he was holding the leash of a stray cat. The cat wanted to catch butterflies, and he had to be careful not to let it fall. He could only tie it up with all his might to prevent it from climbing high or running. At the same time, he forgot his nature as a stray cat and forgot that long ago, the earth was its wandering home.
The knock on the door brought Yun Linai back to his senses. He came to his senses and heard the butler say to the old man, "There's a visitor. He claims to be from the Alliance. Do you want to see him?"
It was almost the end of the year, and there were a few visitors every day. Yun Zhi had long been accustomed to it. However, he disliked everyone from the Alliance except Yun Lin'ai and Lu Yichuan. However, he still patiently asked, "What's your name?"
"He seems to be the warden of some prison, his name is Zheng Xiao."
After hearing this, Yun Lin'ai raised his eyes, and his first reaction was to turn around and look at the person in the garden.
Yun Zhi didn't notice his strangeness, but quickly became impatient and waved his hand, saying, "I don't know him, I won't see him."
A voice nearby suddenly asked, "Can the front hall pass through the garden?"
Yun Zhi: “?”
The housekeeper didn't understand, but he still said honestly: "In order to ventilate the house, the master had French windows built on the first floor. Now it is passable."
As he finished speaking, Yun Lin'ai drove away in his wheelchair. Yun Zhi was completely bewildered. Finally, he looked at the housekeeper's face and asked, "What did I do wrong?"
Yun Lin'ai took the elevator to the first floor and walked straight to the garden. Lu Yichuang, who had slept for half a day, came out and was curious about where he was going when he heard a sound coming from the corridor connecting to the front hall, which should not be there.
