Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Shi Yu forced himself to look around the unfamiliar room, holding his still aching stomach with one hand and tightly grasping the broken glass in the other. He accidentally used too much force and his right palm started bleeding. The blood drops fell on the wooden floor, bright and clear.

He listened warily to the sounds of movement outside the door, then retreated weakly to the wall. When Qin Yue rushed in, he shouted hoarsely, "Don't come over!"

Qin Yue noticed his red eyes, and he had to force himself to wake up by willpower. He had no choice but to stand still and persuade him: "I'm a doctor, not here to hurt you."

Unfortunately, the other party didn't believe it at all and smirked sarcastically, "The doctor there said the same thing."

Qin Yue couldn't do anything to him. Looking at the blood dripping from his palm, he said helplessly: "Your hand needs to be bandaged."

"No need to sympathize with me." Shi Yu never had the slightest trust in Alpha. "Let me leave here."

"Where can you go if your injury is not healed?"

Another voice sounded outside the door. Shi Yu was slightly startled, feeling as if he had heard it somewhere before.

Alpha's face appeared outside the door, looking at Shi Yu indifferently. His dark brown pupils were cold, and his prominent brow bones gave people the illusion of being cold. However, his face looked very bad, as if he had not slept well, and his voice was as cold as ice.

"Lieutenant Yun." Shi Yu heard the doctor calling the Alpha not far away.

Yun Lin'ai rubbed the back of his swollen neck where a barrier patch was applied. The scent of snow lotus in the air became much fainter, but his complexion was still very bad.

"If you leave this place, Zheng Xiao's people can take you back immediately, or do you want to go back to that dark prison?" Yun Lin'ai asked back, leaving the choice to Shi Yu.

The other party seemed to have not let down his guard yet, "How can you prove that you won't hurt me?"

"I don't need to prove it. I was just passing by last night. I didn't want to see a dead body lying in the middle of the bridge, so I picked it up." Yun Lin'ai didn't care about the piece of glass in his hand and walked towards Shi Yu step by step. The Omega was changed into a clean pajamas and leaned against the window. The dim light also added a bit of transparency to his bloodless skin.

"But if you want to die, I can't stop you."

His tone was almost cold, like a knife.

"There can't be blood in the house. If you want to die, get out."

His eyes swept over the bloodstains on the floor, and he gripped Shi Yu's wrist tightly. With just a little force, he let go of the glass in his hand, which was painful. The glass hit the floor with a "ding" sound.

At this moment, Shi Yu smelled the pheromones on the other person. The smell was very faint but enough to make his glands uncomfortable. A little pheromone could make his steps weak and his consciousness, which was trying hard to hold on, suddenly became blurred. Shi Yu couldn't bear it and leaned forward. Just when his knees were about to hit the ground and hit the glass fragments, Yun Lin'ai, who was closest to him, grabbed him and dragged him up without any effort.

The other person tilted his head weakly, his vision blurry. But when he looked up, he could see the other person's Adam's apple clearly. He gasped for breath and asked him, "What do you smell like?"

Yun Lin'ai paused abruptly before putting the person on the bed. His arm unconsciously raised and pressed the barrier patch tightly. He did not answer and let Qin Yue bandage his palm.

At this moment, Lu Yichuan came over as if he had just woken up, "What happened? Why is there such a big noise?"

Yun Linai walked out of the guest room and asked uncertainly, "What do I smell like?"

Lu Yichuan's expression turned strange. He had put on two layers of barrier patches because of the omega's presence, but he still put his nose close to it and sniffed, "What's that smell? Aren't your pheromones usually very weak?"

"Or has your disorder improved?"

......

Looking at the other person's happy face, Yun Linai was speechless. He went back to his room without saying a word and gave himself an injection of inhibitor.

At this time, Qin Yue knocked on his bedroom door. He had just come out after changing his clothes. "Are you settled?"

"He's asleep, but he's still running a fever," Qin Yue said hesitantly and uncertainly, "He seemed to be able to smell your pheromones just now."

"Yeah." Yun Lin'ai adjusted his cuffs, not intending to discuss the matter. "I'll be on a mission for the next two weeks. I'll send someone to guard nearby. If Zheng Xiao's men don't find the body, they'll definitely send someone to search the area. Keep an eye on him these few days and don't let him go out."

"I will." Qin Yue promised.

"But it's time for your regular checkup. Remember to go to the hospital for a physical examination after the mission." He kindly reminded.

"I know." Yun Lin'ai agreed readily, but Qin Yue knew that he would probably have to drag the man to the hospital again.

This time the virus in Area 104 spread very quickly, and many people have become seriously ill. As a lieutenant, Yun Lin'ai received an order from the chairman to quickly lead a team to capture the fugitive who created the virus in the eastern region.

"There are many instruments in the laboratory, so be extremely careful when performing tasks." Lu Yichuang in the off-road vehicle assigned tasks to everyone. Yun Lin'ai just sat beside him and listened quietly. However, after a while, he felt a familiar tingling in the back of his neck. He rubbed it quietly, but was still caught.

"Lieutenant Yun, you look a little unwell."

Yun Lin'ai glanced up at the unfamiliar soldier sitting across from him. It took him a moment to remember that he was Lu Yichuan's cousin, Lu Yan, who had just joined the team this year. He looked away and replied expressionlessly, "Nothing."

A few hours later, the team arrived at Area 104. Gray dust was floating in the air and the sky was rapidly getting darker. It looked like it was going to rain heavily.

Yun Lin'ai and Lu Yichuang led their team to capture the fugitives and spent more than ten days, but there were still a few who were not captured, so they proposed to rest in Area 104 for a day before taking any action.

The hospital here is overcrowded, most of the cases are due to poisoning. There are beds even in the corridors, and the cries of patients can be heard everywhere.

After a few days, Yun Lin'ai also suffered some minor injuries, but he ignored them and they went away after taking some medicine. Alpha's self-healing ability has always been very strong, but the glands behind his neck are still uncomfortable. Just smelling a little bit of the other party's pheromones almost brought forward his susceptible period, so he went to the hospital to give himself an injection of inhibitor.

In the distance, Lu Yichuang was chatting with a doctor. He noticed that Yun Lin'ai was reluctantly saying goodbye to the other party, even though the doctor didn't seem to care at all.

"How are you going to capture the remaining few?"

Yun Linai's brows remained furrowed the entire time. "There will always be traces of leaks. Remember the communicator we seized from the lab?"

"There's a phone number that gets called regularly to find out the location of the phone."

Lu Yichuan suddenly realized, "I'll ask my cousin to check it out right away."

After saying that, he ran away like the wind.

After Lu Yan's investigation, he quickly tracked down the remaining fugitives, but they fought like they were risking their lives. In the last fight with Lu Yichuang, he scratched his arm and there was no time to stop him.

"elder brother!"

Lu Yichuang stared at the tip of the knife in front of him with cold sweat, and used both hands to stop the opponent's advance. After Lu Yan solved the trouble on his body, he quickly ran over and kicked the fugitive off him, but the opponent still swung the sharp blade and stabbed him in the leg.

Gunshots rang out, and the fugitive finally fell to the ground, his face facing the ground, raising a small cloud of dust around him.

Lu Yichuang sat up with difficulty, wiped the blood off his face, and said to Lu Yan: "Thank you. Are you okay?"

"Oh, I won't die." Lu Yan grimaced in pain, showing an innocent smile and replied to the other party.

Lu Yichuang helped him get into the car, then turned his gaze to Yun Lin'ai who was not far away. The other man had just put away his pistol, and he had many wounds of varying sizes on his body, especially the gunshot wound on his shoulder. His wound seemed to be more serious, and his complexion was even worse than usual.

"Lieutenant Yun, you are our savior."

Yun Linai pursed his lips tightly, trying to hold back something, but his words were still merciless. "If you were any later, even the gods wouldn't be able to save you."

He put his trembling left hand behind his back. Although the gunshot wound in his shoulder was not fatal, it would have a great impact on his upcoming susceptible period.

"Collect the troops."

In the two hours after leaving District 104, Yun Lin'ai still maintained a trace of consciousness, and the gunshot wound on his shoulder was bandaged well. However, his susceptible period forced him into a coma early. After receiving the second injection of inhibitor, the off-road vehicle sped through the rainy night and headed straight to the hospital in District 116. Before passing out, Yun Lin'ai frowned and said a few words.

Lu Yichuan didn't hear clearly, only caught the first word, "Blood what?"

Shi Yu lived in a villa by the sea for nearly a month. He had recurring fevers and woke up from nightmares in prison every night. He lost a lot of weight, and his face was so pale that it was almost transparent. It made people feel like he would faint at any time.

He hadn't seen the lieutenant in over ten days, and he hadn't left his room much since waking up. He wasn't used to interacting with strangers, so he felt at peace. But the good times passed quickly. Shi Yu noticed movement outside the window in the afternoon. The afternoon sun was still warm, and after basking for a while, he felt drowsy. Then, he heard the sound of an engine outside the door, and he turned to look.

Two men in soldier uniforms got out of the SUV and turned to open the door of the back seat. The first thing Shi Yu saw was the slender man leaning on the ground. He was wearing a light blue shirt with a simple and loose fit. The buttons of the shirt were unbuttoned. When he lowered his head, the loose hair on his forehead just covered his eyebrows. Compared with his profile that night, he seemed gentler. However, the man's complexion was pale, and his thin lips were tightly pursed and pale. He must have been injured.

This reminded Shi Yu of the smell he smelled on him more than ten days ago, and he couldn't help but be absent-minded. The smell was a bit like moss after rain, but not exactly like it. He couldn't remember what it was specifically.

He was in a daze and didn't notice that the Alpha in the distance was looking towards his glass window.

"It's a blessing that no internal organs were damaged. It must be uncomfortable to have the susceptible period early." Qin Yue entered Yun Lin'ai's study and couldn't help but sigh.

"I can't die." Yun Lin'ai commented on himself.

"That's a pretty low standard." Doctor Qin shook his head, then remembered something. "Oh, right? That Omega should get to the hospital for a full physical exam soon. I came to ask for your opinion. Are Zheng Xiao's people still looking for him?"

"You also know that the people under his command must be killed and their bodies must be found." Yun Lin'ai reminded him.

Qin Yue looked troubled: "But hiding like this is not a solution."

Yun Linai leaned back in his chair, rubbing his fingers for a while, "Please make an appointment for the physical examination first, and I'll bring someone over."

"You should go back tomorrow. The chairman is suspicious."

As a doctor, staying in a lieutenant's house for too long would definitely arouse suspicion, not to mention that the owner was not at home, it was hard not to suspect that there was someone else inside.

"Did you get away with it?" Qin Yue asked him.

"Well, tell him that it's Aunt Wang's youngest son who's seriously ill and that's why he asked you to come and see him."

Aunt Wang was the one who had been cooking for Shi Yu for the past ten days. She was kind and gentle, and it was she who told Shi Yu the full name of the lieutenant whose eyes looked like they could kill.

Qin Yue was relieved, but he still reminded him, "His health is not good. If the situation is not ideal later, remember to call me."

Yun Lin'ai hadn't expected to have to take care of an Omega during her vacation. Then, thinking of the other person's snow lotus pheromones, she felt even more of a headache. "If I had known, I wouldn't have brought it back."

Qin Yue knew that he was tough on the outside but soft on the inside, so he waved his hand and said, "Then it's not you."

Later, he went to Shi Yu's room again. Seeing him, the other party's attitude was much softer than before. At least he knew to call him Doctor Qin.

"Now that he's back, I can't stay here forever. Remember to take the medicine I prescribed for you." Qin Yue smiled softly at him. "Lieutenant Yun may look fierce, but he's actually quite easy to talk to. Sometimes you don't have to pay attention to his cold face."

Shi Yu didn't say anything in response. He wanted to smile politely but gave up in the end because he couldn't smile. He sat on the small sofa in the room and stared at the sparkling sea outside the window in a daze.

He should be grateful for being rescued, but being trapped here every day must have made his already broken heart extremely sick.

Aunt Wang prepared lunch for the two of them at noon. Shi Yu went to the restaurant deliberately late to avoid Yun Lin'ai, but he didn't expect that the dishes on the table were untouched, which proved that the other party did not come out to eat either.

At this moment, the door of another bedroom opened——

Shi Yu was about to sit down when he met eyes with Yun Lin'ai who was leaving.

The other person's face was obviously a little surprised when she saw him, but that expression quickly disappeared. He regained his composure and walked over, calling out, "Auntie Wang."

Aunt Wang came out of the kitchen, and Yun Linai pointed to an empty seat at the table and said, "Let's sit down and eat together."

"Okay." Aunt Wang responded.

Shi Yu breathed a sigh of relief, glad that he and Yun Lin'ai were not the only ones eating. After sitting down, he didn't say much and just ate in silence.

Aunt Wang, on the other hand, kept serving food to the two silent figures. "Eat more, kids. You're already skinny."

"And you too, young master, need to take more care of yourself if you are injured."

Yun Lin'ai's left shoulder was still unable to move. When Shi Yu raised his eyes, he inadvertently glanced at his unbuttoned shirt, revealing the white gauze underneath. There was also a large scratch on his brow bone, which was hidden by his hair. When he lowered his eyes, he saw that the wrist holding the bamboo chopsticks was also wearing a wristband.

He had never understood the rank of lieutenant, nor did he know what the other party had done to suffer so many injuries, but from a medical student's perspective, the wounds on the other party's body were too eye-catching, and he couldn't help but take a few more glances.

Yun Lin'ai didn't seem to notice his gaze, so he became even more presumptuous, frowning and lost in thought as he stared at the gauze on his wrist that had accidentally seeped through with blood.

"Xiao Yu..."

Aunt Wang's call startled him, and when the person opposite him looked over, he immediately looked away, "What's wrong, Auntie?"

"You didn't eat much, didn't you? If there's anything you don't like, just tell me."

Shi Yu quickly shook his head, "It's not that I don't like it, I just can't eat it anymore."

"Then drink more soup. Doctor Qin told me that you have a bad stomach."

Shi Yu took the full bowl of soup with both hands, feeling a little flattered. His inherent thinking told him that an Omega should not be treated like this.

He drank the whole bowl under the other person's enthusiastic gaze. The hot pork rib soup went into his stomach, instantly warming his already cold limbs and even his eyes became hot.

Yun Lin'ai glanced at him calmly and then looked away in an instant. He rubbed his nose with his finger without any expression and stood up. "I'm done eating."

Then he turned around and went back to the study. The phone on the table rang. It was Lu Yichuang calling. He picked up the call slowly.

"explain."

"Be nicer, or you might not be able to find a wife." Lu Yichuan expressed his dissatisfaction, but he still got down to business. "I've sent you the person you want to check via my private email. Remember to delete it after reading it."

Yun Linai was well aware that he was being watched. "Yes, I know."

"But I'm curious, why was Shi Yu accused of murder without even a single word of rebuttal?" the other party asked.

Yun Linai simply scanned the information sent by the other party. "Threatened? Or maybe he didn't even have the chance to speak."

Lu Yichuang believes that the latter possibility is more likely, as trial supervision is usually the responsibility of the alliance.

"Could it be that his brother is also in the alliance?"

"This possibility cannot be ruled out. The position should not be low."

Yun Lin'ai's words completely woke Lu Yichuang up. He stood up from his chair and slapped the hard wooden table, completely forgetting that he was injured. He grimaced in pain and jumped a few times on the spot with his arms hugged.

"You've really gotten yourself into big trouble. If they find out you're in our hands, your father will break your legs."

Yun Linai couldn't help but sneer, with an indifferent attitude on his face, "It's not like I haven't interrupted you before."

After he hung up the communicator, he spent an hour reading the information sent by Lu Yichuang. After reading it, he clicked delete and shredded the file in the recycle bin. He did not keep Shi Yu's past experiences in his computer.

However, the other party's experience was really clean. Anyone with a little bit of intelligence would know how a medical student with a transparent resume could commit a crime of assault, and the person he beat was someone who had nothing to do with him. Then Yun Lin'ai retrieved his brother's information.

Shi Yeheng, Alpha, is an employee of the Alliance Supervisory Council.

Yun Lin'ai chuckled upon seeing this, seemingly understanding the entire situation. The infighting within the Alliance had intensified, the atmosphere no longer the same as before. Everyone was a pawn in the chessboard, willingly being manipulated by the players, believing it to be a blessing from heaven.

But they completely forgot the meaning of the alliance's existence.

The author has something to say:

What is blood?

(Actually, it's Snow Lotus.
