Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Shi Yu seemed to find it difficult to guess Yun Lin'ai's thoughts. The other party's few days of vacation passed quickly, but since the time he applied the medicine, Yun Lin'ai's expression became even colder.

Every time Shi Yu approached him accidentally, he would quickly turn around and leave to go back to his study. At first, no one noticed it because he was rather cold and taciturn. But after a long time, it was hard not to notice his abnormality.

The scar on Shi Yu's right palm is quite serious. Omega's wounds are generally difficult to heal and the pain is more intense, so Shi Yu is actually very afraid of pain, but he always follows the doctor's orders and applies the medicine on time.

He should have recovered well, but after he realized he was being ignored several times and took the initiative to speak to others but was ignored, he would often wonder if the other party would send him back to the prison where he could not see the sun.

Coupled with insomnia and nightmares all night, his wound began to turn red and inflamed, causing a high fever.

It was Yun Lin'ai who first noticed something was wrong.

They both woke up early that day. Yun Lin'ai was preparing for training two days later and was about to go out for some exercise. Just as he was about to turn around, he ran into Shi Yu, who was heading to the kitchen for some water. Ever since the last time they'd been observed and drugged up at close range, Yun Lin'ai had found it difficult not to smell the pheromones wafting off him. That night, it had nearly triggered his susceptibility period again, so he didn't dare interact with him for the next few days.

He raised his eyes and glanced casually before going out, but found that the other person's cheeks were slightly red, but the color of his lips was pale. He walked towards the kitchen with his eyes half open. His vision was blurred and he almost bumped into the wall. Yun Lin'ai just lifted his right foot one step forward and stopped.

No one else was in sight, and a light cough came from the kitchen—

He knew that the other party must have a fever again. Yun Lin'ai sighed, took out his cell phone and called Qin Yue.

"Come over again, he has a fever again."

After hanging up the phone, the only sounds in the kitchen were the beeping of machines and the slight sound of water pouring. Yun Lin'ai walked over and found Shi Yu pouring water with his head down, his back to him. He was swaying, with his head slightly drooped, as if he could fall asleep while standing. He strode over and noticed that the water in the other's cup was about to overflow, so he quickly reached out to steady the kettle.

Shi Yu seemed to be frightened as well, and his whole body trembled. A hint of clarity returned to his eyes, and he stared blankly at Yun Linai's terrible face.

"The doctor is not here, so there's no one to check your burns."

The words he said were extremely ironic. Shi Yu lowered his head and retracted his tightly held hand, but found that the other party was very strong and he couldn't break free for a while.

It was not until Shi Yu stumbled while struggling that Yun Lin'ai came to his senses and let go of his hand.

His body swayed a few more times, and he leaned against the counter as if unable to hold on. He lowered his head slightly when facing Yun Lin'ai's unpleasant expression. The fever had made his head feel dizzy and he didn't know how to respond. He woke up from his dream and replied, "I'm sorry."

Later, he tried to return to his room holding the cup with both hands, not wanting to bother Yun Lin'ai. The moment he placed his fingers on it, they burned on the wall. He pursed his lips awkwardly, forgetting to add cold water. So, under Yun Lin'ai's unpleasant glare, he retracted his hands, then took a step back, swaying slightly as he tried to find a way back to his room, preferably a hole in the ground to hide himself.

"Can you still walk?" the person behind him suddenly asked him.

Shi Yu paused for a moment and said reflexively, "I can walk."

But he seemed to ignore the burning sensation on his forehead. He walked forward step by step, his slippers rubbing against the floor. Yun Lin'ai followed him to the living room. He couldn't hold on to the wall at first, so he could only rely on his feeling. The dizziness in his head always made him fall to the sides. Finally, as Yun Lin'ai expected, he tripped over a corner of the sofa and was about to fall to the ground.

Shi Yu sensed danger and was ready to touch the cold floor and the pain that would follow.

But this did not happen. In the middle of the journey, someone grabbed him by the waist, pressing his entire back into the other person's embrace. A deep voice sounded above his head, "You call this being able to walk?"

Then he felt himself being lifted up into the air. Not daring to touch Yun Lin'ai, he had to shrink his hands nervously. At such a close distance, the scent drifted over like a gust of wind and reached his nose. He didn't know what kind of perfume it was, Shi Yu thought.

The moment he touched the bed, Shi Yu could no longer hold back and wrapped himself in the quilt, shivering inside. The room was very quiet. Shi Yu thought Yun Lin'ai had left, and was about to go back to sleep with a dizzy head, when the man standing by the bed suddenly said, "Don't sleep yet."

Shi Yu seemed very aggrieved, opened his hazy eyes and asked him: "Why?"

Yun Lin'ai was stunned by the other party's unusually good attitude. Even though his pheromones were about to start to lose control, he still patiently told him, "The doctor will be here soon. You're asleep now and can't take the medicine. Or do you want to fall asleep now and be woken later?"

Shi Yu's face showed a rare unwillingness, his brows slightly furrowed, and it was difficult to make a decision. He spoke in a muffled voice under the quilt: "Why can't I eat now?"

Yun Lin'ai didn't want to waste time explaining to him why he couldn't take fever-reducing medication due to his glandular condition, so he returned to a cold tone, "There's no need for so many reasons."

Shi Yu didn't want to talk to him, so the quilt covered his entire face, leaving only a little black hair exposed.

For the first time, Yun Lin'ai felt like he had a child at home. He had no idea what to do with Shi Yu. He found a thermometer from the drawer, took a look at the tufts of black hair, reached out and pulled down the quilt a little to reveal the person's forehead. After aiming the machine, he pressed the button, and after a "beep", a very high temperature display appeared on the screen.

Yun Lin'ai frowned slightly, and at this moment the doorbell rang.

"What's the cause of your fever this time? Don't tell me it's the glands again." Qin Yue said seriously as he walked in. "I saw a few new faces outside your house. Have you figured out how to explain this time?"

Yun Lin'ai didn't seem surprised at all. He knew there would be no one else except the person his father had planted.

Arriving at the guest bedroom, Yun Linai stood at the door and said, "Don't worry about this. I'll take care of it when the time comes."

Qin Yue lifted the quilt wrapped around Shi Yu and said, "Sometimes you shouldn't always solve problems by yourself. You won't be able to hold on for too long."

Yun Lin'ai didn't seem to take the other person's words seriously. He hummed and asked, "What's going on with him?"

Qin Yue was looking at the wound on Shi Yu's right hand. "The fever is caused by the inflammation of the wound." Then he saw the dark circles under his eyes. "Didn't you sleep well these days? The dark circles are almost hanging around your neck."

"Is this also the reason for his fever?" Yun Lin'ai asked Qin Yue with a frown.

"Who knows, haven't you noticed he's been feeling unstable these past few days?"

Speaking of this, Yun Lin'ai had time to recall the past. It seemed that because of his coldness and alienation, after he rejected his active conversation, the other party returned to the days when he first came. He did not show his emotions, and was unusually quiet when eating. He only showed his dissatisfaction with Yun Lin'ai when he was sick.

It would take too long to fully understand Shi Yu.

Two days after training, Yun Linai was unexpectedly called to the chairman's office.

Half of the top floor of the alliance building is used as the chairman's office. The huge office is airtight and has very few glass windows. Yun Linai feels suffocated every time he comes over.

"I heard that you brought an Omega home?" Yun Che was wearing casual clothes and sitting behind the desk, with a cold smile in his tone.

"Is it Aunt Wang's son? If so, forget about her. I'll ask someone to find another aunt..."

"No need," Yun Lin'ai interrupted him, not taking the chairman seriously. "It's just an Omega. There's no need for you to make such a fuss."

Yun Che's eyes were like deep pools, and a sneer appeared on the corner of his mouth. "It's really rare. This is the first time you have rejected my request because of an Omega."

Yun Lin'ai's expression remained calm. Even though he was standing there facing his father, he was never afraid. "You know my illness, I'm just keeping him as medicine."

Yun Che didn't reply for a long time. He just looked at his son quietly and scrutinizingly, trying to detect any concealment in his eyes. But Yun Lin'ai hid it very well, so he didn't doubt it anymore. "Throw away things after use. You should understand this principle better than anyone else."

"Abandon my mother like you did?" Yun Lin'ai looked over calmly, and the other person's face had obviously turned extremely bad.

"What nonsense are you talking about again!"

Yun Lin'ai looked at his father calmly: "You also know that my illness cannot be cured in a short time, so he needs to be by my side. Except when he is carrying out missions, he needs to be with me at all times."

There was nothing wrong with the tone, but it was clearly telling Yun Che not to try to influence the people around him anymore.

So Yun Che questioned him in a hoarse voice: "Your pheromones are highly compatible?"

Yun Lin'ai bowed respectfully and turned to leave. As he grasped the doorknob, he turned his back to the superior man. "It wouldn't be easy for you to get a checklist. You've been sending people to me for so long and you can't even get this, right? After all, you're quite experienced in even tampering with death certificates."

Every word struck at Yun Che's heart. After being in a high position for so long, he naturally couldn't stand hearing such things. He suddenly stood up and slammed the table with a deafening bang, "How insolent of you!"

Every time Yun Lin'ai came, he would have an argument with him. He seemed to know very well how to make Yun Che crazy and had no way to deal with him.

Yun Che wanted power and money, but never thought about having a family. Even Yun Lin'ai was born to be exploited, and his mother was just a tool to pave the way for him.

In Yun Lin'ai's heart, his grandfather is his only remaining family member.
