Chapter 029 Iris
Silence spread in the night.
Bai Su didn't say anything, and Eli realized belatedly that he felt a little embarrassed.
He cleared his throat and explained, "I mean we can get married..."
"Hi, Keos, you're here too." Bai Su winked at Eli, then raised her voice, interrupting his rambling, "Did you just get off work?"
Eli was then shocked to realize that there was a third adult present.
Keos approached, his face still sullen, and he said indifferently, "Just got off work and happened to be passing by. Did I disturb you?"
Bai Su's toes gripped the ground awkwardly.
Help! I didn't do anything wrong, why do I have to face such a dramatic scene...
Bai Su rubbed his hand uncomfortably at the place where Eli had just kissed him. Seeing that Keos's gaze was also fixed there, he froze and cursed himself for being so naughty.
Help, help, help...
Someone please save me...
It was Eli who bravely broke the silence again. He chuckled twice and said, "It doesn't matter. I'm leaving anyway."
He squatted down, hugged Allen and Gabi one by one, and said gently, "I still have things to do. You two just follow Brother Bai Su and don't act naughty, okay?"
Gabi was a little reluctant, mumbling to Eli not to leave, but Allen sensibly held his brother back. He hugged Eli back, then earnestly promised, "I will. I will take good care of my brother and keep him out of trouble for Brother Bai Su."
Allen looked at Eli fondly. He knew that Eli had already sacrificed a lot for them. "Uncle Eli, you have to be safe too, okay?"
"Okay." Eli touched Allen's head with satisfaction and ruffled the boy's meticulously smooth hair into a messy mess.
He stood up and made drastic arrangements for the two remaining adults.
First, he said to Bai Su: "Take the two fat guys home and have a rest early. I still have things to do. Don't worry about me."
Then he turned to Keos and said, "I'm going to the Vatican. Would you like to come with me? We can talk about what just happened."
Keos agreed.
So Bai Su could only hold back the words that were on the tip of his tongue and watch them leave.
Forget it, I'll find a chance to explain it tomorrow.
·
One was half horse and the other was half snow leopard and half orc. They were walking along the edge of the forest, one in front and one behind, at a distance not too far from each other.
No one spoke.
It wasn't until the white outline of the Vatican's building came into view and it was time to say goodbye that Keos finally asked, "What do you want to say?"
Eli suddenly laughed: "Captain of the Guard, has anyone ever told you that being cold all the time will not please females?"
"I don't like females." Keos said coldly.
Centaurs are also a branch of orcs, but he has never been interested in other female orcs.
"But you're so cold, you won't be liked by human men." Eli wasn't afraid of his cold face at all, and continued with a nonchalant tone, "Look at Bai Su's expression just now, you scared him."
Keos was startled.
Eli pressed the issue, "Haven't you figured it out yet? You like him."
The tall young centaur took two steps irritably, his ponytail rising up and slapping the tree trunk beside him, making it snap.
And Eli just looked at him leisurely.
After a long time, Keos finally calmed down. He indirectly confirmed Eli's statement: "I saw you kiss him."
"Ha!" Eli simply jumped onto a large rock and sat down. "If I want to kiss, then I'll kiss. It doesn't mean anything."
“But he didn’t say no.”
"He just didn't react for a moment."
"but……"
"Centaur, I don't understand what you're so confused about," Eli told him. "You can think of it as a kiss between friends. I don't believe you can't see that Bai Su and I are the same - I mean, he doesn't like females... well, I mean he doesn't like women, he likes males."
Keos didn't continue the conversation. He changed the subject, which was what really troubled him: "When I went to report on my work, I saw Bai Su's blind date advertisement on the billboard in the square."
"Hahahaha!" Eli laughed. "You saw it too? Let me tell you, his neighbors are really talented!"
"What do you mean?" Keos was confused.
"I mean, that's Bai Su's neighbor, I think her name is Susan? It was Susan who did it. Because Bai Su wanted to legally adopt the two fat kids, someone told Susan that Bai Su had to be married before the adoption procedures could go through. After learning that Bai Su didn't have a partner, Susan decided to arrange a blind date for him. And then what happened is what you saw."
"In fact, Bai Su himself was also shocked, but he probably couldn't bring himself to blame Susan, so he agreed."
"And what you just saw was nothing more than me thinking that if Bai Su felt embarrassed about the blind date, then I could marry him. Originally, the two fat boys were my responsibility, but Bai Su took it on. I'm very grateful to him, so I invited him to get the marriage certificate together."
Eli supported his face with his hands and said with a smile: "So you didn't disturb us. On the contrary, your appearance made me sober up. I think my invitation was too hasty. Maybe there is someone else who also wants to marry Bai Su, right?"
His expression clearly said: Admit it, you are that person.
Being teased, Keos did not feel offended.
Because his bad mood for the whole night disappeared when he found out that the blind date was not Bai Su's original intention.
There was finally a hint of a smile on the young centaur's face. He no longer treated Eli in a cold manner, but became gentle and polite again.
I was even in the mood to joke: "Is the person who told Mrs. Susan that Bai Su didn't have a partner also a centaur?"
"I don't know." Eli thought about it carefully. "I was busy eating cake and didn't listen carefully. Let me think... I don't know if it was a centaur, but it seemed like he was Susan's daughter's boyfriend."
"Faria?" Keos read out a name.
"Yes!" Eli pounded his palm with his fist and said firmly, "That's the name."
"Okay, I understand." This was the first time the Centaur youth had sincerely thanked someone tonight. "Thank you, thank you for everything you did tonight."
"You're welcome. I once met your father before the Centaurs left the Dark Forest, but that was a long time ago..."
The conversation lasted until the middle of the moon.
Eli had already transformed into a snow leopard and was running towards the Vatican with the clothes in his mouth.
Keos walked very slowly towards the valley where the centaurs lived behind the forest.
His mind was in a mess, with many thoughts rising and falling.
Later on, he had no idea what he was thinking, and just kept recalling the details of his past interactions with Bai Su.
The pictures flashed by frame by frame, and the horses' hooves stepped by step.
Leaving behind a trail of muddy footprints of love.
After walking through a rocky area shaded by trees, they came to a clear stream, a huge waterfall and a field full of blooming daisies. In the sparse morning light, Chaos saw a white-furted Centaur boy wandering on the grass.
He approached: "What are you doing here?"
The boy was so frightened that he raised his front hooves and almost ran away.
"Brother Keos, you scared me to death," the young man complained. He was the younger brother of a squadron leader under Keos, and because he was still young, he looked a whole lot smaller than Keos. "I was picking flowers, and look, all of the irises suddenly blossomed overnight."
Only then did Keos notice that among the blooming daisies all over the ground, there were actually many colorful irises hidden.
Iris, which blooms between April and May, is a famous flower that symbolizes same-sex courtship.
The young man was holding a large bouquet in his hand. It was obvious that he had carefully arranged it. Each flower was plump and fresh, and even had dewdrops hanging on it.
"Why are you picking this?" asked Keos.
The boy's cheeks turned red and he stammered for a long time but couldn't make any sense.
"I remember you were less than seventeen years old, right?"
The boy nodded: "Sixteen and a half, almost seventeen."
"Well then." Keos snatched the bouquet from his hand, looked at the boy's suddenly stunned face, and said seriously, "You're not yet an adult, you shouldn't fall in love too early, let alone with someone of the same sex - I suggest you think about it more."
"I'll keep these flowers for you first."
"Go back to bed early, or I'll tell your brother about you staying up late picking flowers and planning to confess your feelings to a male classmate."
Then he turned and ran away.
The heart-wrenching accusations coming from behind could not stop Keos's rapid pace.
He deliberately walked around the forest, and whenever he saw some beautiful wild flowers and whole pine cones, he would stop, pick them up, and put them into the bouquets he had snatched.
Soon the bouquet of irises was more than twice as big as when he first snatched it.
Finally, Keos walked into the stream and let the clear stream carry away the mud on his horse's hooves. Only after he was sure that every detail was decent enough did he take a deep breath and run towards the farm.
·
early morning.
After washing up, Bai Su walked to the window feeling refreshed.
Ever since the two little tigers crossed the clear road at the city hall, Bai Su no longer kept the doors and windows closed all day long. He liked to open all the windows early in the morning and let the cool breeze of late spring, carrying the scent of green grass, pass through every corner of the house.
The same is true today.
Just as he was leaning on the back of the sofa and struggling to push open the largest stained glass window, suddenly, a bunch of beautiful, colorful flowers full of dewdrops were stretched out in front of him.
Bai Su was stunned.
A centaur awkwardly tapped his horseshoes and without saying anything, handed the bouquet of flowers to Bai Su's arms.
A farmer blinked blankly.
The Centaur tried to express his feelings with ease, but like a teenager, he took a long time to come up with the following sentence: "This is an iris I just picked. It's for you."
Bai Su looked at the Centaur's red earlobes and asked inexplicably, "Why did you give me irises?"
The answer is about to come out——
"Because iris is a flower that symbolizes same-sex courtship." The centaur leaned forward slightly and placed his hand in front of Bai Su in an inviting gesture. "I am courting you."
"I beg you to give up those blind dates and choose me."
"I want to marry you."
