Chapter 163 Emerging

Chapter 163 Emerging

Samuel was not stupid enough to actually bring Arnold's coffin back.

In fact, he had a meeting with Arnold in the woods outside the cemetery...

Although, to Samuel it looked more like walking the dog.

Getting off the carriage, Samuel walked towards the cemetery holding the white rose. There was a thin layer of white ash on the road, which was corpse powder.

From a distance, Samuel saw the terrible scene on the lawn - there were hills of turned over soil everywhere, and coffins were scattered all over the place.

Samuel immediately gave up the desire to go in.

Just as he was about to turn around, he saw the branches of the landscape tree next to him swaying slightly.

Samuel: “…”

So, he walked in holding Baihua, and sure enough, he saw the red-haired puppy waiting for him eagerly.

"I thought you weren't coming." Arnold said, pulling Samuel's sleeve.

He waited for a long time, and even went back halfway. When he found that there was no one in the bedroom, he came back and continued waiting.

Samuel quickly handed over the bouquet in his hand: "Be good, mother went to make flowers for you. Look, they are white, specially given to the dead. They suit you very well."

Arnold: "..."

Arnold didn't really have much real feeling about his own death.

If no one reminds him, he won't feel anything at all.

Because of the living dead state, eating and sleeping have evolved...

"Thank you, mother." Arnold took the white rose wrapped in black lace. If he remembered correctly, this should be the flower grown at home.

No matter what, receiving flowers is always a joy.

Arnold was very happy and didn't care what kind of flowers they were.

He has some secret happiness, which is based on his secret love and the relationship between him and the person he loves.

A sense of guilt.

These three words made Arnold feel a strong sour feeling in his chest, where an important organ was missing.

On the bench in the grove, the two chatted for a while. Samuel knew that Arnold was recovering little by little. The safest and smartest thing to do was to ignore Arnold until he solved the current crisis and ran away.

But he always felt that feelings were something that expected something in return. He hadn't raised Arnold seriously for two days, so he hoped that Arnold could give him some positive rewards after he recovered his memory.

That's why I had the idea of taking Arnold with me.

"Arnold, tell me about yourself. Now, how much do you remember about your previous life?" Samuel supported his face with one hand and blinked his eyelids slowly.

He didn't know how gentle and affectionate he looked now, and how it made people have excessive fantasies for no reason.

Arnold really wanted to hold his strangely beautiful face and kiss him on the cheek.

Look at the black butterflies on his eyelids flapping their wings in panic.

"I remember some things from my childhood," Arnold said. "I remember when I was little, I met a god with mighty horns in the dark forest."

"He was my teacher, I learned from him, and most of the time I lived in the Dark Forest."

"When I go home occasionally, I have to get to know my relatives all over again."

"I meet you sometimes, mother."

Arnold did not know how Samuel had obtained this body. The most profound magic was related to the soul. He only briefly told his own story, but he also described in detail what he knew about the "Samuel" he had known before.

He knew Samuel needed this information.

And, calmly express words such as "We didn't know each other well before", "I like you very much now", "You are very good and the best mother", "Arnold likes you" and so on.

Arnold wanted to run away with Samuel even more than Samuel himself did.

Samuel, however, felt like he was taking a pet parenting training class similar to "Who is the puppy's favorite parent?"

The companionship for several days achieved great results. Arnold became a little smarter and more dependent on himself.

Poor little girl, with such a miserable, unloved childhood, no wonder she longs for the role of "mother" so much, Samuel thought.

After learning more about Arnold, Samuel wanted to teach those hateful relatives a lesson even more, with new and old grudges added to his heart.

He told Arnold: "Arnold, I want you to do something for me."

"Yes." Arnold agreed without hesitation.

Samuel paused, organizing his words to make his meaning clear enough: "I need you to go to a few relatives' homes at night and scare them. You don't have to do anything, just threaten them."

"Okay." Arnold asked him, "Did they bully you?"

Samuel nodded. "They handed out flyers on the street, telling everyone that I was married to your father and that I was having an affair with Cassius—an uncle you don't know. They described me as a slut and wanted to destroy my image."

"It would affect my plans and draw more attention to me - I don't want too many people to remember me so vividly."

"Moreover, they humiliated me. On the one hand, they wanted to use me to help them protect their property, and on the other hand, they wanted me to beg them to do this for them."

"No wonder you didn't like them as a kid either."

Samuel concluded.

Halfway through his speech, he was quite indignant, but he felt that Arnold probably didn't understand him, so he controlled his emotions and just said that these relatives were annoying people.

"So at night, let's go scare them." Samuel said with a smile.

"Okay!" He didn't know if it was Samuel's illusion, but he always felt that Arnold was a little more excited than before?

Near noon, Samuel took a carriage back to eat.

Arnold stuck to him and was unwilling to use the teleportation array to go back by himself. He waited for Samuel to get into the carriage and then flashed into the carriage without being noticed by the coachman.

On the way back, Samuel didn't ask the driver to take a detour, and they arrived at the mansion soon.

Arnold returned to the bedroom before the car stopped, and Samuel got out by himself.

The butler, as the most loyal member of the consul's palace, was already waiting respectfully at the door. In his mind, Samuel was the only choice for the next consul.

"Madam." Even when there were many people around, he still addressed Samuel as "Madam." "Your message has been conveyed. They promise to deliver every penny of gold before dark."

"Yeah." Samuel nodded.

He felt a little hungry after going out, so he followed the butler's instructions and went to the small restaurant on the second floor.

"Also, I've sent people to deal with the flyers on the street. Aside from those who saw them this morning, this kind of situation won't happen again."

"good."

"After you left this morning, the Vatican sent a visiting card." The butler paused tactically. "It's not a personal card from Mr. Cassius, but from Bishop Cassius of the Vatican. I checked the time and made an appointment for you at 3:30 p.m."

"You did a great job, Pine," Samuel praised.

The butler nodded, bowed, and left the small dining room - he knew that Samuel never liked to be served while he ate.

After he went out, Samuel looked thoughtful.

Not Mr. Cassius, but Bishop Cassius of the Vatican - this sentence contains a lot of information.

From the butler's perspective, he thought that Samuel had deliberately hinted to him that he and Bishop Cassius had rekindled their old relationship and maintained a stable cooperative relationship.

The butler generally believed that Bishop Cassius would use his official position to support Samuel, and the contact between the two should be private and concealed.

But this time, he came to visit in the name of the Vatican Bishop. The housekeeper was not sure whether their relationship had broken down but their interests were still there, or whether Samuel had finally decided to disclose Mr. Herman's situation and compete for that position himself.

Extremely unsure, he scheduled the meeting for the afternoon, a formal enough time to avoid controversy - in the face of the romantic scandal between the two.

There is nothing wrong with the housekeeper's approach; it is even very appropriate.

But Samuel himself was also confused. He had no idea what Bishop Cassius meant by this action.

Is he afraid that the romantic scandal will affect his position and wants to set the record straight?

Samuel didn't quite understand.

But if Bishop Cassius was here, the whole scene would be more interesting when those people came to deliver the gold in the afternoon.

Thinking of this, Samuel stopped worrying about it. He would know the answer in the afternoon. If the enemy comes, we will fight him with our soldiers. If the water comes, we will block it with earth.

After having a pleasant lunch, he returned to his room to take a nap. When Arnold asked if he could play with him for a while in the afternoon, Samuel told Arnold about his afternoon plans without thinking much.

"I'm not free this afternoon, but I'll be back early in the evening and we can read a book together or something."

"good."

At a quarter past three in the afternoon, Samuel sat in the reception room, looking radiant, waiting for Bishop Cassius.

After taking a nap until three o'clock, Samuel still felt a little tired when he woke up. He quickly washed his face, changed his clothes and went downstairs.

He specifically asked the maid to add a little lemon and apple peel to the black tea. The pleasant aroma instantly made him feel refreshed.

At half past three, Bishop Cassius appeared in the reception room, and the butler considerately closed the door after he came in.

"Please sit down, Cassius. I hope those flyers this morning didn't have a negative impact on your work." Samuel smiled and poured him a cup of tea himself.

"No," said Bishop Cassius.

"That's good." Samuel asked again, "Then you should have received the letter I sent you last night, right?"

"You mean the strangely shaped piece of paper? I received it," Bishop Cassius replied.

Samuel explained playfully that it wasn't a piece of paper in a strange shape, but a paper airplane, a small flying toy that could be used to send messages.

As he spoke, he folded a flyer and flew it out in front of Bishop Cassius. The paper airplane miraculously returned to his hand a few seconds later.

Normally, Bishop Cassius would have greatly enjoyed this little trick, feeling that he had received some emotional feedback that had been long overdue.

However, the person in front of him was most likely not the one he first knew.

So he said nothing.

Samuel was immersed in the joy of having ten tons of gold delivered soon and did not notice Bishop Cassius's expression.

He was planning to play a prank that night, so he took the opportunity to ask Bishop Cassius, "Do you know about Arnold's situation, as I asked in the letter?"

He stared at Bishop Cassius without blinking.

Bishop Cassius also looked at him without blinking, and then said something irrelevant:

"Samuel," Bishop Cassius said slowly, "I suppose you haven't looked in the mirror since you got up today."

"You have a hickey on your neck."
