Chapter 40 Unhappy

Chapter 40 Unhappy

Su Yueming was not happy at all tonight.

He is a light sleeper.

He would be awakened by any noise around him.

It has always been like this for so many years.

So when the phone on the bedside table vibrated, Su Yueming immediately opened his eyes.

Before he could react, Wang Yan reached out and muted his phone.

Then, the blanket covering him was lifted slightly, and Wang Yan got out of bed with his phone in his hand.

The door was closed ajar, and Wang Yan went to the living room to answer the phone.

Faint sounds reached Su Yueming's ears, but he could not make out what they were saying.

Soon, the door slammed shut again, and this time Wang Yan left home.

Su Yueming propped himself up and got out of bed, then slowly walked to the glass window.

The iron chains around his ankles clanged crisply in the quiet room. Su Yueming lifted the heavy curtains and looked down.

In just one second, Su Yueming recognized Wang Yan standing downstairs.

He hastily put on his coat and hurried along as if he were going to meet someone.

Su Yueming frowned, unable to figure out what it could be or who Wang Yan was going to see.

He glanced at the clock in the bedroom; it was 11 p.m.

Su Yueming lay back down on the big bed, but he was not sleepy at all.

It wasn't until he heard the door open again that Su Yueming nervously closed his eyes and realized he was still wearing an eye mask, which Wang Yan couldn't see at all.

He laughed at his own foolish behavior.

But his smile soon faded.

He heard footsteps belonging to someone else.

Su Yueming's first reaction was that he had misheard, but then he heard Wang Yan talking to someone else.

Wang Yan brought another man home!

This realization made Su Yueming feel like the sky had fallen.

He couldn't tell for a moment whether Wang Yan had simply brought the man back for one night or intended to imprison him as well.

One is imprisoned in the living room, and the other in the bedroom.

Su Yueming could only comfort himself in his heart that Wang Yan probably cared more about him, after all, he was in the bedroom and could sleep on the bed.

As the footsteps drew closer, Wang Yan re-entered the bedroom.

Su Yueming slowed his breathing, pretending to be the way Wang Yan left.

He really wanted to yell and question, but when Wang Yan walked in, all his courage vanished.

Besides, yelling and questioning are both low-class behaviors, which not only make you seem aggressive but also highlight your pettiness.

Su Yueming only uses advanced methods.

Seeing Wang Yan lying back on the bed, Su Yueming thought, "Waaah, he really does care about me after all; at least he knows to come back."

But he still couldn't control his urge to tear that ungrateful man outside the door to shreds.

Meanwhile, Shen Le'an, who was drunk and sleeping in the living room, was still gloating.

He sat up from the sofa, the drunkenness on his face vanishing completely.

He looked around the room, which had a one-bedroom, one-living room layout, so it was no wonder he was sleeping in the living room.

With his gaze falling on the succulents on the coffee table, Shen Le'an reached out and touched one of its leaves as if possessed.

"He's good-looking."

Shen Lean also commented on it.

Turning back, Shen Le'an's gaze fell upon the bedroom, as if trying to see through the door to Wang Yan lying on the bed.

This time, his act of pretending to be drunk wasn't entirely in vain.

At least they knew Wang Yan's address and house number.

From now on, he can come over anytime, anywhere.

The full moon hung high in the sky, its cool light spilling onto the ground, casting a silvery glow.

Shen Le'an slowly stood up and walked step by step toward the only bedroom.

He tensed up inexplicably as his fingers touched the doorknob.

He had already prepared his explanation: he would say he was sleepwalking, or that he was drunk, or anything else would do.

At worst, he'll shed a few more tears, and Wang Yan will surely soften.

As a result, being soft-hearted becomes a bargaining chip that others can manipulate.

As the doorknob came in, Shen Le'an's breathing became rapid.

Something is about to burst forth from within the chest.

The door was turned all the way up, but the bedroom door still wouldn't open.

Shen Le'an pushed the door open in disbelief, but it remained unresponsive.

Wang Yan actually locked the door from the inside?

Shen Le'an didn't want to believe it, but it was indeed the truth.

Clenching his back teeth, Chen Le'an angrily released the doorknob, turned around, and strode back to the sofa.

He sat down on the sofa and punched the cushion next to him hard.

My gaze returned to the succulent.

"It looks awful."

Shen Le'an's change of heart is that quick.

He reluctantly lay back down on the sofa; it was already two in the morning.

He was also a little sleepy.

Shen Le'an picked up Wang Yan's coat from the side and covered himself with it. Smelling the scent of laundry detergent wafting through his nostrils, he finally closed his eyes.

Shen Le'an is the type of person who is energetic but doesn't feel much sleep.

Four hours of sleep a day is enough.

So when he opened his eyes, it was already six o'clock.

It was already bright daylight, and the sunlight enveloped him. Shen Le'an raised his hand to shield his eyes from the dazzling light.

He sat up in a daze, his mind still a little foggy.

The unfamiliar environment and the cramped bed made him feel sore and uncomfortable.

I stretched and loosened up my muscles.

Shen Le'an finally remembered where he was.

This is Wang Yan's home.

The light is better in the morning than at night, so the decoration of the living room is immediately clear.

Shen Le'an set his sights on the kitchen; no one can resist someone with excellent culinary skills.

He walked straight to the refrigerator, opened the cabinet door, and looked at the remaining vegetables.

Stir-fried shredded potatoes with green peppers and scrambled eggs with tomatoes instantly formed in my mind.

Shen Le'an nodded; it was more than enough for two people.

After putting on his apron, Shen Le'an began preparing the ingredients. He cut the potato shreds so finely and thinly that you would think he was a chef.

This stems from his childhood, when his family, though wealthy, was considered a middle-class family.

The parents run a store and leave early and return late every day, so they simply don't have time to cook for Shen Le'an.

Having had enough snacks, Shen Le'an decided to cook for herself.

He did this for many years, to the point that Shen Le'an was very confident in his skills.

He believed that once Wang Yan tasted it, he would want to eat it a second time.

In less than an hour, the rice was ready and the dishes were served.

Shen Le'an sighed deeply, torn between whether or not to wake Wang Yan.

He might also take this opportunity to peek into Wang Yan's bedroom.

Shen Le'an instantly became excited, a glint of light flashing in his eyes. He took off his apron and put it back in its place.

He walked out of the kitchen and headed towards the bedroom, raising his hand as if to knock on the bedroom door.

Before his finger could even touch the door, the bedroom door was pulled open from the inside.

Wang Yan walked out without warning, and he stared at him in astonishment.

Wang Yan never expected him to stand silently outside the door. Although he was startled and shrank back, he still made sure to close the bedroom door tightly.

What are you doing standing here?

Wang Yan, with his messy hair, asked Shen Le'an a question.

He looks like this every time he wakes up, because his hair is too thick.
