Chapter 42 Stranger Man
The first day of early autumn.
The two of them embraced tightly that morning.
Only when Wang Yan gently patted Su Yueming on the back did he reluctantly let go.
And she asked, "What's wrong? I want to hold you a little longer."
"Aren't you thirsty? I'll go get you some water."
Wang Yan stood up, took his water glass, and walked out of the bedroom.
He didn't immediately fill the cup with water, but instead carefully rinsed it under the tap before filling it with water for Su Yueming.
As Wang Yan passed the dining table, he glanced at the clock; there wasn't enough time to make breakfast for Su Yueming again.
So Wang Yan brought the dishes on the table into the bedroom.
As soon as the bedroom door was pushed open, Su Yueming smelled the aroma of food.
Immediately afterwards, Wang Yan placed the water glass in his hand, looking at him intently: "Drink up, then we can eat."
Su Yueming silently finished the water in his glass.
With chopsticks placed in his hand, Su Yueming didn't immediately pick up any food. Instead, he asked, "What kinds of dishes are these?"
"Stir-fried shredded potatoes with green peppers and scrambled eggs with tomatoes," Wang Yan said truthfully.
Su Yueming stopped talking and simply put the food he had picked up into his mouth.
He immediately recognized that this was not a dish made by Wang Yan; it was saltier than usual.
So Su Yueming only took one bite before putting down his chopsticks.
"I'm stuffed."
"But you only ate a little bit."
Wang Yan was somewhat skeptical, after all, Su Yueming usually ate two large bowls of food.
"Then I don't want to eat anymore."
"What's wrong?"
Wang Yan sensed the awkwardness in Su Yueming's tone.
"This isn't your cooking." Su Yueming grew angrier the more he thought about it. If the other person dared to make breakfast at his house, they might as well move in with him tomorrow.
Whether it was Su Yueming's imagination or not, he sensed a hint of provocation in the food the other person had prepared.
How did you tell by tasting it?
Wang Yan expressed his shock.
"The saltiness is different, and they're both cold." Su Yueming complained again, "You never give me food that's been left out cold."
"Uh..." Wang Yan really didn't expect the food to get cold so quickly; it was his mistake.
"Shall I heat it up for you?"
Wang Yan came up with a solution.
"No," Su Yueming refused sharply. "I'll wait for you to come back at noon before we eat."
Aren't you hungry?
"It's okay," Su Yueming said bravely. "Anyway, I won't starve to death if I skip a meal."
"Oh well."
The main reason was that Wang Yan was indeed going to be late for work, so he quickly changed out of his pajamas and said, "I'll go to work now."
"Okay, be careful on the road."
"rest assured."
Wang Yan walked out of the bedroom and left home.
He hopped on his electric scooter and sped away.
After confirming that Wang Yan wouldn't suddenly return, Su Yueming opened the drawer and found his phone, which was already switched off.
After restarting his phone, Su Yueming didn't hesitate to call his assistant.
The assistant answered the phone quickly, "Brother Ming."
"Go and investigate a man named Wang Yan. Find out where he went last night and who he picked up," Su Yueming instructed succinctly.
The assistant was a little confused and asked, "Brother Ming, weren't you in seclusion creating something?"
Su Yueming didn't speak. After a two-second silence, his assistant immediately said, "Yes, I understand. I'll go investigate right away."
"Hmm." Su Yueming paused, then asked again, "Has no one been looking for me lately?"
"Miss Song Xiya has come to see you several times, but I turned her away each time."
"Well done."
Su Yueming nodded in satisfaction.
He hung up the phone, turned it off again, and tossed it back into the drawer.
His gaze was fixed on the distance, with only one thought in his mind.
He would not allow anyone to take Wang Yan away from him.
Wang Yan can only belong to him.
As Wang Yanka walked into the office, Chi Qiu winked at him as soon as he entered.
"What's wrong?"
Wang Yan assumed that Chi Qiu wanted to see him, so he slowly walked up to him.
"Nothing much, I just wanted to ask if your roast duck was good."
"tasty."
Wang Yan nodded immediately and expressed his gratitude again, "Thank you so much."
"If you thank me again, I'll really get angry."
Seeing Chi Qiu's feigned anger, Wang Yan raised his hand to touch his nose and said good-naturedly, "I understand."
“That’s more like it,” Chi Qiu couldn’t help but emphasize. “If you’re going to thank me, you should thank me more. You even covered my classes.”
"It's nothing."
This wasn't Wang Yan being hypocritical; he genuinely felt it was nothing.
In his mind, friends should help each other.
"That settles it." Chi Qiu smiled at him, then reminded him, "You should go to class, don't be late."
"good."
Wang Yan left the office with his USB drive and lesson preparation notes.
A cool breeze swept through the window, scattering leaves all over the ground.
Fifteen minutes after Wang Yan left, the office door was pushed open again.
"Is Wang Yan here?"
The man who arrived was a stranger. He looked very wealthy, and he was dressed entirely in designer brands.
The stranger looked around, and seeing that no one paid him any attention, his tone grew increasingly impatient, "Wang Yan?"
Chi Qiu stood up, unable to bear it any longer. He had never seen such a rude man.
Don't you know how to knock before entering a house?
"What can I do for you?"
Chi Qiu stopped in front of him, suppressing his temper, and asked in a fairly polite manner.
The stranger made no attempt to hide his probing gaze. In his memory, Wang Yan didn't look like this at all. He hesitated and said, "You're not Wang Yan, are you?"
Ikegaoka was speechless.
He resisted the urge to roll his eyes. "Yes, I'm not Wang Yan, but I can pass on his message for you."
The man chuckled. "I don't need you to pass on my message. I want to see Wang Yan."
Chi Qiu could no longer tolerate it. "Wang Yan has gone to class."
"Oh, I see." The man said dejectedly, "You really came at the worst possible time."
My gaze fell back on Chi Qiu, and I have to say he has a rather ascetic look.
A clean white shirt, straight suit trousers, and slightly loose buttons revealing his collarbone.
The man's eyes flickered, showing interest. "What's your name?"
"Chiqiu."
Adhering to the principle of not wanting to be taken advantage of, Chi Qiu also asked him in return, "What about you?"
"Jiang Xiao".
Chi Qiu vaguely felt that he had heard this name somewhere before, but he couldn't quite place it.
So Chi Qiu subconsciously repeated, "Jiang Xiao."
"Let's add each other as friends. It's fate that we met. Besides, if I can't contact Wang Yan in the future, I can contact you." Jiang Xiao met his gaze frankly and spoke with certainty.
“Okay,” Chi Qiu agreed and took out his phone.
Looking at the friend messages that had come through on the screen, Jiang Xiao couldn't help but smile.
He took a step back, then suddenly stopped. "By the way, don't tell Wang Yan I've been here yet. I'll contact him personally in a couple of days."
"good."
Chi Qiu nodded in agreement.
Jiang Xiao turned around and walked down the stairs step by step. Ever since he met Su Yueming that day, he couldn't control his curiosity.
He was extremely curious to know who Su Yueming's girlfriend was.
She's incredibly resourceful, managing to win over the eligible bachelor Su Yueming.
So after returning home, Jiang Xiao had someone investigate all the owners of that old house.
The investigation revealed that the homeowner was an elderly woman who had sublet the house to someone else.
And this other person was Wang Yan.
