Don't cry.

Don't cry.

A bitter feeling of grievance welled up in Chu Sinian's heart, and his voice involuntarily trembled with a weak sob: "Chen Chi, let me go."

Chen Chi paused in comforting his back, then leaned in to lick his tears, his voice low and hoarse, "Don't cry, my heart aches too."

"I can't bear to keep you by my side, so this is the only way. I can't see you, and I don't know what I'll do. Next time, don't turn off your phone."

Chu Sinian's tears flowed even more fiercely.

Chen Chi gently wiped away his tears with his thumb. "Don't cry." He turned and kissed his earlobe. "I'll remove a few of the surveillance cameras, just keep the ones in the living room, okay?"

"Don't cry, okay?"

Chu Sinian forced a hard expression, his face covered in water stains. "Take it all off, and remove the location tracking from my phone too."

Chen Chi's expression hardened slightly, but he said in a gentle tone, "There's no room for negotiation, Nian Nian. You can hit me or scold me however you want, but the location can't be removed."

Chu Sinian pursed his lips tightly, his eyes red and moist.

He'd never been so unlucky in his life.

Chu Sinian recalled the day he confessed his love and the solemn promise he made to Chen Chi. He slowly lowered his head and slumped against Chen Chi's shoulder.

Chen Chi picked him up and carried him to the sofa, letting Chu Sinian sit on his lap. He skillfully took off Chu Sinian's shoes with one hand, saying, "Don't make things difficult for baby."

The sound of the sneakers hitting the ground was crisp and clear. Chen Chi gazed deeply at Chu Sinian's tear-reddened face, and used his other hand to brush away Chu's sweaty hair and smooth it behind his head. "Don't cry, be good."

Chu Sinian stopped crying and his face remained expressionless.

He just stared at Chen Chi, then suddenly raised his hand and slapped him.

The slap was merciless, and five clear red finger marks immediately appeared on Chen Chi's handsome face.

Chen Chi narrowed his eyes expressionlessly, took Chu Sinian's hand and kissed it in his palm, "Your hand is red."

Chu Sinian was defeated with gritted teeth.

That's shameless.

After kissing him, Chen Chi kissed the corner of his lips again, holding him tightly with both hands, "Are you still angry? Slap him a few more times."

Chu Sinian obeyed and slapped the other half of his face.

Now there are five finger marks on both sides of my cheek.

Chen Chi chuckled, touched his cheek with the tip of his tongue, and leaned in to ask, "Are you calmed down yet? Where else do you want to hit me?"

Chu Sinian nestled in his arms, without saying a word.

Chen Chi patted his back, put his arm around the man's shoulder, leaned down and snuggled against the man's shoulder, coaxing him softly: "A few more times, hmm? Are you calm now? You can kick me, you can even stab me with a knife, just don't cry, and don't feel wronged."

"Am I being too harsh? I can't bear to see you cry, baby. How about I contact someone to remove the security cameras? I'll only keep the ones in the living room."

Chu Sinian glanced at the finger marks on his cheek and thought to himself that he hadn't hit him hard enough. "Take them all off."

Chen Chi nuzzled his cheek with his chin. "Don't talk nonsense. Isn't it good for me to watch over you?"

Chu Sinian gritted his teeth, "This is bad!"

Chen Chi stopped moving, concealing the sinister look in his eyes, and said in a chilling tone, "Listen to me. I don't want to tie you up and make you cry every day. This is the best compromise. Niannian, don't force me."

Who forced whom?

Chu Sinian closed his eyes, tears sliding down his cheeks and disappearing into his hair. He said fiercely, "I really hate you."

Chen Chi gently stroked his temple and tenderly kissed the corner of his lips. "I'm sorry."

The two couldn't reach an agreement and had a big argument, ending with Chu Sinian giving in. His compromise didn't bring harmony between them; instead, it brought them back to their previous confrontational state. The difference was that one side was outwardly making concessions at every turn, while the other was unabashedly aggressive.

Chen Chi was about to fly to Vancouver, and the finger marks on his face hadn't faded at all. Yi Fan was startled when she saw them and had to call a makeup artist to cover them up.

On the private jet, Chu Sinian sat to one side with a grim expression, while a makeup artist carefully applied makeup to Chen Chi not far away, experiencing the oppressive and suffocating atmosphere.

Chu Sinian was halfway through reading when he angrily slammed the book onto the table.

Chen Chi had just finished applying makeup when he heard the noise and said, "You can hit me again at night after you've worked during the day."

Chu Sinian sneered, "Do I have the guts? President Chen's status has risen, how could I dare to offend you? If you're ever unhappy, it's not impossible that you'd throw me into the sea."

Yi Fan and his assistant kept their eyes down, not daring to listen.

Chen Chi frowned. "Don't talk nonsense about Nian Nian."

Chu Sinian scoffed, "By what right do you use that title? Did anyone give you permission?"

"If you're not happy, I won't call you anymore."

Chu Sinian was so angry that his mind went blank, and a sour feeling welled up in his nose.

What a terrible thing to do, truly a terrible thing to do.

The temperature in Vancouver is close to zero degrees Celsius; it's very low.

Chu Sinian didn't bring any thick clothes with him, but he was wearing Chen Chi's thick clothes.

As soon as he got off the plane, his face was colder than zero degrees Celsius. He walked straight ahead, clearly not wanting to have any dealings with the people behind him.

Chen Chi walked very fast, catching up with him in a few steps with a scarf in his hand to put it on him, but Chu Sinian slapped his hand away with a "smack" and walked away without looking back.

Chen Chi had no choice but to follow behind and avoid further trouble.

Yi Fan and his assistant struggled to keep up, as they were bundled up in thick layers.

The group was taken directly to the conference center at the headquarters of the partner company.

Chu Sinian had no chance to leave. He stood aside as a backdrop for Chen Chi and the others, being treated to good food and drinks while silently watching them communicate.

As the other company's employees were talking about the project, Chen Chi, worried that Chu Sinian would be bored, took the opportunity to instruct someone to take him downstairs for a stroll.

Chu Sinian had no interest in strolling around and coldly refused Chen Chi.

The boss of the partner company was an older white man who chatted with Chen Chi after the employees finished explaining the project.

Chen Chi's attitude was as indifferent as usual. He had no intention of arguing and directly stated his terms to the white man.

The white man was a little surprised, then turned his gaze to Chu Sinian. After a brief glance, he smiled and teased, "Chi, this is the first time I've seen you so cheerful. Is it because your partner is in a bad mood?"

Upon hearing this, Chu Sinian raised his eyelids to look at him and slowly said, "Not a partner."

Chen Chi's expression remained unchanged as he steered the conversation back to work, and the negotiations were quickly concluded.

Both parties readily signed the contract, and Chu Sinian took the opportunity to turn around and leave the conference center.

Chen Chi had no time for further pleasantries with the white man and hurriedly followed, leaving Yi Fan and several other company staff members looking at each other in bewilderment before exchanging pleasantries on behalf of their boss.

It was snowing in Vancouver. Chu Sinian was soaked when he came out. The streets were bustling with foreigners. He stood on the street, looking at the bar not far away, and suddenly wanted to have a drink.

With that in mind, he went and put it into practice.

Chu Sinian took a step forward, but before he could take more than a few steps, someone grabbed his arm.

He almost immediately realized who it was, and anger welled up in his chest.

Chen Chi tried to lower his voice, "Don't run around, it's not safe."

Chu Sinian shook off his hand again and walked forward, but Chen Chi grabbed him again with great force, and Chu Sinian realized that he couldn't shake him off this time.

He turned his head and sneered, "Unsafe? Where on my body am I not marked by your presence?"

Chen Chi said, "I only install it on my phone."

"Should I praise you for going easy on me?"

Chu Sinian didn't want to talk to him.

Chen Chi frowned, took a step closer to him, and stared down at him. "How long are you going to stay angry? We'll tear down everything except the surveillance camera in the living room."

Chu Sinian looked at him, "So what? So I should thank you, thank you for installing a GPS tracker on my phone and a surveillance camera in my living room, should I thank you for monitoring me all the time!"

He was so angry that he coughed a few times, his chest heaving with rage.

Chen Chi reached out and hugged him. "I'm sorry, don't be angry."

Chu Sinian was almost ready to compromise.

What's the point of all this arguing and bickering? They're just arguing about the surveillance issue over and over again, and no matter how loud or heated the argument gets, it won't lead to anything.

What chilled Chu Sinian even more was not the tight surveillance, but Chen Chi's distrust.

Chu Sinian's eyes welled up with tears, and she pursed her lips, breaking free from his grasp and walking back.

Chen Chi followed closely behind, also remaining silent.

After finishing the Vancouver project, it was already dark. They'd only been to two countries that day, so the schedule wasn't too busy. Chen Chi told the employees on the business trip to go out for a nice meal, with the company paying for it. Yi Fan and the others happily went to eat.

Vancouver got even colder after nightfall.

Inside the hotel, Chu Sinian stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window wearing a sweater, the high collar pressing against his nose, the warm light outlining his aloof profile.

He raised his wine glass and took a sip, when there was a knock on the door.

Chu Sinian lowered his eyes, not wanting to pay attention, but after a couple of seconds he opened the door.

A brown-haired, golden-eyed waitress struggled to carry ninety-nine yellow roses: "Sir, someone asked me to deliver these flowers to you. Please accept them!"

Chu Sinian accepted the gift, thanked him, and then closed the door.

He placed the flowers on the ground, frowned as he looked at a letter tucked among them, and stood there for a few seconds before picking it up.

It was wrapped in familiar kraft paper, with the inscription: "To be opened by your loved one every year."

Chu Sinian opened the letter and took out the letter inside. He found that it was about the size of three palms. The letter was densely written on the whole page, and the handwriting was clear without any cursive.

He's busy all day and still has to attend meetings; I don't know how he manages to do that.

Chu Sinian read each word carefully and found that the sentence he wrote most often was: I'm sorry, Nian Nian.

From initially admitting his mistake, to unequivocally acknowledging his despicable selfishness, and then to expressing remorse and apology, he showed absolutely no remorse.

Chu Sinian was so angry that he could barely stay angry all day.

What impressed me most was the last paragraph:

I'm so sorry, Niannian. I've wronged you so much, and now that I think about it, I can't even find the source. Niannian, do you blame me? When I misunderstood you and thought you were trying to harm me, did you blame me? When I mocked and insulted you, did you blame me? When I knocked you to the ground, did you blame me? When I caused you to go to Switzerland for medical treatment, did you blame me?

Even today, I still make you cry your eyes out. I owe you so much, countless debts, but I can't let go, year after year. I think you love me. We grew up together, spent so many years together, and I think you can't bear to part with me either. We can't be separated, can we? Please don't give up on me, okay?

During those years away from you, I missed you so much. I couldn't live without you, I couldn't bear to be apart from you even for a day. I know I had ulterior motives, I know you blame me for not trusting you, I know I installed so many surveillance cameras mostly because of my own selfishness, I know you're safe now, but I'm still very afraid, afraid that something might happen to you if you leave my sight. Year after year, I know I'm sick, I know I'm seriously ill, but please don't give up on me, okay?

I promise you I'll go see a doctor, Niannian, don't cry.
