Give me the address
The bedroom was dimly lit, and the living room and even his room were completely dark. All the curtains were closed, and the room exuded a faint sense of decadence.
Yu Shi lay on the bed, deep in thought in the pitch-black room.
In just half a month, he lost a lot of weight. His clothes were deeply dented, and the bones on his back, which were lying on his side, were clearly visible.
Chu Sinian had a key to his house. As soon as he entered, he opened the living room curtains and the window to let the warm winter sun shine into the house.
He walked to Yu Shi's room door and knocked. "It's me."
There was no response from Yu.
Chu Sinian walked in and saw Yu Shi's extremely haggard face under the pile of quilts. He had taken care of him for so many years and had never seen him so disheveled.
Yu Shi's face turned ashen, which fueled Chu Sinian's already discontent.
His brows furrowed suddenly; before feeling disappointed in him, he felt heartache.
Chu Sinian yanked off the covers. "What else do you want to do?"
His expression was unusually cold. "You cried and begged me not to interfere in your relationship with Liang Jingsi. I was angry that you didn't listen to me and didn't intervene. That was my problem."
He sat down, his face pale with anger. "I'll ask you one more time: can you cut all ties with Liang Jingsi?"
Yu Shi looked unwell and raised his unfocused eyes. "Brother, you're here."
Chu Sinian turned to look at him, "I'm asking you if you can cut ties cleanly, do you understand?"
Yu Shi's lips trembled, tears streaming from his unfocused vision. He whispered, "Yes."
Chu Sinian gritted his teeth, "I'll take care of those public opinions for you. Yu Shi, if you dare to go to him again from now on, I'll break his legs, and I mean it."
Yu Shiren's tears soaked his pillow, his voice weak: "I'm always causing trouble for everyone, always causing trouble for you. Brother, sometimes I wonder if the world would be less troublesome if I disappeared."
He forced a bitter smile, "I really want... I really want to go back to when I was a child..."
"Why are we always the ones getting hurt, brother? I want you to be happy," Yu Shi said, choking back tears. "I won't cause you any more trouble, and I'll never shed a tear for anyone again..."
Chu Sinian bent down and hugged him, feeling the thin bones beneath his hands. He patted his back gently, asking softly, "Don't you want to see your mother?"
"I'll send you back to Germany."
Yu Shi collapsed and cried on his shoulder. Chu Sinian looked down at the dark world and reached out to pull at the window.
A small gap was torn in the curtains, and warm sunlight burst out, slowly drying and evaporating the sorrow and resentment in the room, turning them into a light rain that would eventually fall into the mud.
After Yu Shi fell asleep, Chu Sinian made a phone call in the living room. He mobilized some of his connections and hired a professional public relations team to buy out the existing photos and videos, reduce the trending topics, and release a piece of gossip about Liang Jingsi's private life.
This news can be seen as a warm-up; he will definitely not let them off the hook.
Chu Sinian leaned back on the sofa, his temples suddenly throbbing with pain, as if being constantly struck by a hammer.
He rubbed his breasts and sat quietly for a long time, holding his phone.
After a while, I opened my phone, stared at the screen, and remained motionless.
After a long while, he opened his contacts and slowly pressed the numbers one by one until a complete number appeared on his phone.
He hovered his fingertip a few millimeters from the screen before pressing it.
The old-fashioned telephone rang leisurely, and a few seconds later, the call was answered.
"Hello?"
Chu Sinian didn't speak for a moment, then hesitated before asking, "How have you been lately?"
"What's up?"
"You should know about the Tang family's affairs. With the emergence of the Refining New Project, you probably don't want them to monopolize the market, right?"
Without hesitation, the person on the other end said, "You're doing this for Yu Shi?"
Chu Sinian remained silent.
"Other people's business is none of your concern. Don't you understand the principle of minding your own business?"
"It's just medical equipment, it won't cause any trouble. As for you, you relied on your surname Chu to stir up trouble for Xiao Yu. All the lessons on hiding your strength and keeping a low profile that I taught you for so long have been ignored."
"In your position, mind your own business and set a good example so that others won't have any doubts when you inherit the business. You're nineteen years old, do you really need me to teach you all over again?" Chu Zhuang's voice was gentle, but having been in a high position for many years, the authority and pressure in his tone, along with a hint of arrogance, were impossible to hide.
“Come back on Sunday, and I’ll talk to you.”
Chu Sinian closed his eyes, suppressing the pain, and said in a low voice, "Press them, I'll come back."
"Do you have the right to negotiate? What are your bargaining chips?"
"Last year I cut off the Xiao family's project, and now it has expanded to Sweden. You've wanted that business for a long time, haven't you?"
Chu Zhuang was silent for a while, then said, "You did very well, but I won't help you with Yu Shi's matter."
"You shouldn't have any weaknesses; cutting them off early is exactly what I want."
Chu Si chuckled softly, "Like cutting off my mother's blood?" He hung up the phone.
Sunlight streamed into the living room, illuminating the coffee table in front of the sofa. The silver-green glass-like edges reflected the light in a striking arc, extending down to his trouser legs.
He dozed off on the sofa for a while, and after feeling a little better, he dialed another number.
Chu Sinian spoke first this time, "Can you do me a favor?"
The person on the other end of the phone seemed stunned. "Why do you think I'd help you?"
Chen Chi's tone was cold, and Chu Sinian could almost imagine his stiff expression as he said those words.
"After knowing each other for so many years, don't you have any feelings for each other at all?"
The other party said coldly, "You kicked me out at the last engagement party."
"Um?"
Chu Sinian was a little confused, then said, "I didn't."
The phone call was abruptly ended.
Instead of getting angry, Chu Sinian laughed, breaking the vague gloom in his mind. It was like a cold stream rushing out on a hot day, washing away his hazy world-weary mood.
He seemed to have just returned to the human world, his fingertips tapping the sofa armrest one by one. Sunlight flowed through his trouser legs and arms, past his fingertips, leaving a warm glow on his pale, distinct hands.
Chu Sinian glanced at the door to Yu Shi's room, resting his chin on his hand, seemingly lost in thought.
When Yu Shi woke up, Chu Sinian took him back to the apartment and said to him on the way, "You'll stay with me for a while. Don't go to school for now. Can you study at home?"
Yu Shi agreed.
—
Ning Zicheng started cooking late, anticipating that things would take a long time to finish, so he waited until dark before starting to cook.
He was cooking the second dish when he heard the door open.
Ning Zicheng looked towards the door and saw Chu Sinian taking off Yu Shi's mask, helping the pale-faced and red-eyed Yu Shi to the sofa, gently giving him a few words of advice, and Yu Shi obediently nodded.
Ning Zicheng unconsciously stopped what he was doing, a strange smile on his face. He felt like he had energy again while cooking.
When Chu Sinian turned around, he saw Ning Zicheng's lewd expression. He walked over and said, "I'll cook it."
Ning Zicheng elbowed him, still holding the spatula in her hand, and said, "Get out of here, go keep him company, I'll cook."
Chu Sinian leaned against the edge of the stage, raised an eyebrow, and said, "What are you thinking about?"
Ning Zicheng chuckled twice, "Stop pretending, I understand. Although taking advantage of someone's vulnerability is a bit immoral, you'll be fine. Just go ahead and do it."
Chu Sinian slapped his head. "If you keep talking nonsense, I'll tell Xiaobai about you not washing your socks."
Ning Zicheng immediately stood up straight, her expression excited, and said, "Damn it, I finally got her to add me back, don't ruin it again!"
Not long after, Ning Zicheng brought three dishes to the dining table.
He made two vegetarian dishes, while the other meat dish was made by Chu Sinian.
Yu Shi sat in the chair, looked up and thanked Ning Zicheng: "Thank you for visiting me."
Ning Zicheng pulled out a chair and sat down. "It's nothing. As Chu Sinian's best friend, I have to take extra care of you while Chu Sinian is away."
Yu Shi lifted his heavy eyelids and said, "Thank you."
Chu Sinian put food into his bowl, saying as he did so, "Eat well and get some sleep."
Yu Shi agreed.
He didn't eat much; it was already quite good that he could finish half a bowl of rice. Chu Sinian didn't force him to eat more, and together with Ning Zicheng, they tidied up the guest room for Yu Shi to rest.
After finishing her work, Ning Zicheng patted Chu Sinian on the shoulder and said, "Being close to the water makes you the first to get the moon. You're so close, seize the opportunity!"
Chu Sinian, considering that he had been busy all night, did not make sarcastic remarks, and said, "Thank you for your help."
Ning Zicheng chuckled cheekily, "So what? From now on, he'll be my brother's boyfriend..."
Chu Sinian suddenly jabbed his arm into Ning Zicheng's side, and Ning Zicheng cried out "Ah!" while clutching his waist as he walked away. "Tch, you still won't admit it? I'll see who your boyfriend is in the future. I'm leaving!"
He stormed out and left.
Yu Shi, who had just finished showering, came out of the bathroom and asked in confusion, "Brother, what boyfriend?"
Chu Sinian said helplessly, "He's just joking around."
Yu Shi glanced at him furtively, "Brother, I haven't seen you with anyone around you in all this time. Are you really...?"
Chu Sinian walked over and ruffled his hair. "Are you still making wild guesses just because he's talking nonsense?"
Yu Shi blinked, lowered his head and said, "Brother, you shouldn't be in a relationship. It's not good at all."
Looking at his haggard face, Chu Sinian joked, "Hmm, what you said is very convincing."
Before Yu Shi could get angry, he walked behind him and pushed him into the guest room, asking, "Can you sleep by yourself? Do you want me to keep you company?"
Yu Shi rubbed his eyes and said, "Brother, I'm eighteen now, you should go to sleep early too. You've worked hard."
Chu Sinian smiled and closed the guest room door for him.
He walked to the sofa and lay down, his limbs completely limp, and sighed softly with his eyes closed.
In the still of the night, only the soft sound of breathing could be heard.
Chu Sinian slightly opened his eyes, looking at the rotating light on the ceiling. Even worse than the pain was the dizziness. The world was distorted and deformed in front of him. The earth was spinning and the sky was collapsing.
In his hazy senses, he vaguely heard the ringing of a bell, each ring clearer than the last.
Chu Sinian slowly moved his eyes, picked up the phone placed to the side, and answered the call directly: "Hello?"
The other person was silent for several seconds. "What's wrong with your throat?"
"Hmm?" Chu Sinian mumbled as he finally heard his own hoarse voice.
"Where are you?"
Chu Sinian's rationality suddenly resurfaced. He lifted his heavy eyelids, opened his phone, and glanced at the screen several times. It was a call from Chen Chi.
He cleared his throat. "Is there something you need?"
The other person said in a low voice, "Give me your address, and I'll grant you your request."
Chu Sinian's face was red, and he couldn't lift his eyelids no matter what he did. "Are you trying to hit me? I'm easier to bully right now."
Chen Chi only said, "Address."
