See you on the field
The restaurant gradually filled up with people, mostly contestants who came out to relax and have afternoon tea.
Chen Chi's team had gained widespread fame, and many people came to greet him, most of them specifically to see him. Within minutes, he was surrounded by a large group of people, mostly seeking his advice on mathematical modeling and algorithm design.
I thought Chen Chi would leave early, but to my surprise, he found a quiet corner, held a small blackboard that someone had handed him, and began to explain his newly created algorithm in a serious and methodical manner.
In a computer demonstration, they discovered that the latest infinite algorithm achieved an astonishing 98% accuracy rate within just one or two seconds. This not only demonstrates the genius of its creator, but more frighteningly, it reveals that he has completely dissected human nature into optimal solution parameters in a probability space, leaving the question of where human subjectivity should go.
Even in this technologically advanced era, this is appalling.
The noise from the restaurant seemed like distant ocean sounds to those people. They looked at each other, reading only shock in each other's faces.
Moreover, Chen Chi's mathematical modeling has reached its pinnacle, using familiar yet obscure symbols and language to create assumptions and calculations that are beyond their comprehension.
The mathematics in his mind had long since split into body cells, becoming a part of his brain; its vastness and breadth were beyond their reach.
Chen Chi took a moment from his lengthy explanation to glance at them. "Didn't you understand?"
"No, no, brother, I'm sorry Mr. Chen, it seems impossible for us to understand this thoroughly with our current knowledge. I'm sorry to disappoint you."
Chen Chi paused for a moment, then used simpler language to break down the principles and inspiration for them, explaining the complex knowledge involved with examples in the most easy-to-understand way.
Gradually, the small group of people began to expand until the entire restaurant fell silent. Everyone was infected by the solemn academic atmosphere and was afraid that raising their voices would disturb others.
After Chen Chi finished his general explanation, the group, who had been in a daze, suddenly came to their senses.
"Professor Chen, could you please explain the computing system technology that won you the award?"
Chen Chi wiped his hands, which were covered in chalk. "Sorry, this involves national defense, so I can't comment."
The people on the field obediently stopped asking questions and pointed out the parts they had just struggled to understand. Chen Chi only focused on a few difficult points; if they couldn't grasp the rest, then they truly wouldn't understand.
Ning Zicheng leaned closer and listened with great interest. Although he didn't understand, watching those familiar symbols being transformed into a language he didn't recognize gave him a sense of utter despair.
Having grown accustomed to this feeling, Li Liao and the other two had already quietly walked away.
After a long while, Chen Chi finished explaining his points and, surrounded by a small group of people, returned to his previous spot to continue eating the afternoon tea he hadn't finished.
The others didn't dare to disturb them any further, so they went to find Ning Zicheng, who looked kind.
Ning Zicheng finally managed to get rid of everyone and sat down next to Chen Chi. "Brother, they all want to add me on WeChat and ask for your contact information."
Actually, Ning Zicheng knew Chen Chi wouldn't give it to her, because even she didn't have his contact information.
Chen Chi said, "Ignore it."
Ning Zicheng grinned again, "Then give me your WeChat ID."
Chen Chi looked at the teacup, opened WeChat, and handed it over.
When the friend request came in, he casually asked, "I heard you're quite familiar with Chu Sinian?"
Ning Zicheng felt somewhat confused. This was the second time he had asked himself, "We are very close, we are best friends."
My best friend.
Chen Chi suddenly felt a light tap on his eardrum, but he remained silent.
Ning Zicheng slowly moved away and sat down far away from him.
The last time Chu Sinian appeared before him in that state, he had already pushed himself to the limit by not investigating or asking, since it was Chu Sinian's Achilles' heel, and he dared not touch it.
But he really wanted to know what had happened and what the relationship was between Chen Chi and Chu Sinian.
But these two are both people you absolutely cannot afford to offend.
A group of people entered through the main entrance, disrupting the restaurant's quiet atmosphere with a noisy intrusion.
The leader seemed to have a specific goal in mind, his gaze sweeping across the hall before locking onto Chen Chi and walking over. "It's been quite a few days since I've seen you."
Chen Chi was wiping his hands with a wet wipe after finishing his meal, and the oppressive atmosphere emanating from him seemed to clear away from those around him.
Wenbin walked towards the open space. "I heard you kicked Zhao Jiechao out of the team? That's ruthless. He followed you all the way to the finals and you still kicked him out."
The other teams, who were planning to keep their distance from Wenbin, perked up their ears upon hearing this, ready to step forward and refute Chen Chi at any moment.
Chen Chi placed the wet wipes on the table and stood up to leave, but Wen Bin stopped him after he had only taken two steps. "What a big shot, Coach Chen. You get upset after just a couple of questions. Zhao Jiechao is really pitiful, having been enslaved by you for so long, and you just kick him out like that."
Chen Chi stopped and glanced at him sideways. "If you have any objections, then we'll see you on the field."
He walked forward on the cold marble floor, and the small groups of people automatically cleared a wide path for him.
Amidst the gazes pouring in from all directions, he remained as calm as a boulder in a stream, silent yet carrying immense weight.
Li Liao glanced at him and sat down, saying with a grin, "Captain Wen, your temper is getting worse. Why bother with your words?"
Ning Zicheng fanned the flames from the sidelines, saying, "When I saw Captain Wen on the field, I really felt indignant for Zhao Jiechao. You can win a gold medal to humiliate us, and while you're at it, bring the idiot you value into your team."
"They're just bullying their master," said one of Wenbin's teammates.
"Do you have anyone to back you up? Like, Captain Wen, you'll have him protecting you! Hahahaha." Ning Zicheng's attitude was incredibly arrogant. Yi Fan walked up to Wen Bin, "Brother, we're all young and don't know any better. You're so capable, don't stoop to our level..."
Yi Fan began praising Wen Bin at length, and Wen Bin's ugly expression gradually returned to normal. Before leaving, he spat at Ning Zicheng.
Ning Zicheng immediately flew into a rage, almost turning the peaceful pre-match greetings into a battlefield.

The competition was in full swing, and before nightfall, the event staff held their own meetings to encourage each other before returning to their rooms to rest and recharge.
Li Liao invited Ning Zicheng and the other two to have a private meal together. Although he knew Chen Chi wouldn't come, Li Liao still asked out of courtesy. After receiving the expected answer, the group walked out with ease.
While eating, Ning Zicheng didn't forget to call Chu Sinian. He rarely participated in competitions and had only ever been a spectator at events of this scale. He couldn't help feeling excited and nervous.
"Let me tell you, when Wenbin left, he looked really awful, haha. He couldn't win an argument or a fight, he was so angry he was about to die."
On the other end, Chu Sinian, wearing glasses, was checking the latest stock updates from Xunguang Group sent to him by his assistant. The internal conflicts within Xunguang remained unresolved, and he had secretly added fuel to the fire. Now, Chu was frantically searching for a breakthrough and hadn't paid much attention to the stock acquisition.
Now it seems like it's about to become a mere formality; that plan can begin.
Chu Sinian curled his lips and said in a good mood, "With such a fierce spirit, you're bound to lose."
"Who knows him? Some people are just like that. If they can't do it, they can't do it, but they can't stand seeing others do well," Ning Zicheng said with disgust.
“There are plenty of jealous people out there. At least he didn’t resort to underhanded tactics, so he still has some humanity.”
Ning Zicheng picked up a piece of meat and said, "Are you talking about Zhao Jiechao? The two look a bit alike, no wonder he stood up for him."
Chu Sinian scrolled through the mouse. “Zhao Jiechao is obviously someone who has been pampered since childhood. He’s ambitious but can’t do anything really bad.”
"Hahaha, that's right. This idiot actually thought of beating up Chen Chi in public. I haven't seen such an absurd thing in years."
"Really? You got into a lot of fights in high school, didn't you?"
"What are you saying? It's been so long!"
Hearing that he was about to explode, Chu Sinian stopped teasing him and asked, "Are you nervous about the competition tomorrow?"
"I'm not nervous anymore. After chatting for a while, I feel much better."
"Okay, call me if you get nervous tomorrow."
"Okay, you have to answer my call even if you're taking a shower."
After hanging up the phone, Ning Zicheng felt relieved and good-naturedly hooked her arm around Zhang Xiu's neck, "Let's go, let's rush to the next event."
Zhang Xiu shoved him away, "What's the rush? Go back to sleep later."
Ning Zicheng checked her phone; it was almost nine o'clock. "Aren't you guys nervous?"
The other three shook their heads in unison. Li Liao said, "We've been through countless battles. Honor is in the hands of fate, and life and death are predestined."
Ning Zicheng wiped her mouth. "I never thought I'd have a day like this."
Noticing their questioning looks, Ning Zicheng laughed and said, "I was a real troublemaker in high school. Although I didn't fall behind in my studies, I was always causing trouble."
Zhang Xiu said, "You went and bullied others?"
"No, he's just always causing trouble and is extremely arrogant."
Yi Fan suddenly laughed, "I can see that. You were quite arrogant this afternoon too."
"Huh? Let me tell you, if he ran into me in high school, he'd avoid me like the plague." He leaned back in his chair, a nostalgic look on his face. "Back then, I never participated in any competitions. My family was already burning incense in gratitude if I didn't cause trouble."
Li Liao looked at him and said, "Then why are you so enthusiastic now?"
Ning Zicheng stared at the dark blue sky for a few seconds without speaking, then grinned and said, "I was just hanging out with Chu Sinian. Once someone is on your mind, they'll do everything they can to help you become a better person."
Li Liao was taken aback. "He doesn't seem like the type to meddle in other people's business."
Zhang Xiu disagreed, "No way, he seemed quite enthusiastic to me."
Ning Zicheng looked up, smiled at him, and slumped back into her seat. "He never meddles in other people's business. He's both hard-hearted and soft-hearted. Once he starts meddling, he'll see it through to the end."
Yi Fan, picking up some food, casually asked, "How did you guys become so familiar?"
Ning Zicheng chuckled a few times, "I always pester him to play, but he doesn't like me pestering him. He just got used to it after a while."
