They fought

They fought

Chen Chi spent the entire afternoon in the lab.

With the national competition fast approaching, he needed to find a suitable candidate in a short time, and he already had his answer in mind.

Although Ning Zicheng is not particularly talented, he has a solid foundation. If he works with Yi Fan and the others, they might just be able to win the championship.

After settling the experimental equipment, Chen Chi changed his clothes and went out.

He had arranged to meet with Kong Bo a few days ago. The two were not very close; they were in the same circle, had met quite a few times, but had not communicated much.

Kong Bo contacted him because their interests were intertwined. His DK software was snapped up as soon as it hit the market, with prices soaring to eight figures at one point.

The emergence of DK raised the market threshold again, leading software development companies to join forces to suppress it and maliciously raise prices. As a result, DK fell into a precarious situation where no one wanted to buy it.

Kong Bo's father, Kong Zhou, was determined to acquire DK, and upon learning that the founder was Chen Chi, he immediately arranged for Kong Bo to meet with him.

Today, we'll discuss and decide who will ultimately acquire DK.

In October, the nights in Dong'an are no longer hot; the wind is cool and rustles through the leaves that adorn the branches.

Under the dim streetlights, the slightly pointed derby shoes shone through the shadows, and the yellow hue climbed up the unwrinkled trouser legs to the slightly white, veiny knuckles and back of the hands, and the strong elbows, revealing Chen Chi's face with its high nose, deep eyes, and cold gloom.

His prominent brow bone cast a shadow, like a lingering, cold mist.

On the way to the appointment, you will pass through a small alley.

This alley is mottled and old, with a musty smell that has accumulated over time, something that the bustling and dazzling city of Dong'an could never have.

Large slabs of broken stones and fragments were trampled through the alley, but Chen Chi did not stop walking. He passed by cracks that spread outwards from the center of the wall like a spider web.

He stepped to the left, away from the seemingly crumbling wall. Just then, a sharp, piercing sound seemed to cut through the air and rushed towards his right ear. Chen Chi turned his head to dodge it.

He lowered his eyes, and a broken, knife-shaped stone fell to the ground with a clatter.

"Chen Chi, I've been waiting for you for so long."

He turned around and saw the owner speaking through gritted teeth.

Zhao Jiechao looked at him, his eyes unremarkable and unremarkable, staring straight at him, emotions growing within them.

"A genius like you, who has been born without any worries, probably never imagined this day would come."

Before Chen Chi could speak, a series of uneven footsteps sounded, followed by eight people.

Zhao Jiechao couldn't contain his excitement, barely suppressing it as he asked, "Do you remember everyone here?"

"He just got the procedure wrong, and you mocked him mercilessly! You said he's hopeless, worthless, a piece of trash who can't be helped!" He said, his face getting even uglier. "Do you think I'm like that too?"

Chen Chi paused only for a moment, then slowly raised his hand and unbuttoned his collar. "Yes."

"Damn, still acting all high and mighty. Let's see if you can still act that way later."

Someone rushed over, bringing a fierce punch straight to his face. Chen Chi turned to the side, grabbed the opponent's wrist and twisted it backward. A cry of pain accompanied the rapid arrival of another punch from the other side.

He dodged all the attacks with a few quick movements, then struck their vitals when he found an opening. Every move was as clean and sharp as a blade, almost flashing with a sharp silver light.

In the midst of the chaotic punches and kicks, Chen Chi grabbed Zhao Jiechao by the back of his collar and pulled him to the ground with immeasurable force.

Chen Chi grabbed him by the back of his collar, forcing him to look up.

In the chaotic, stinking alley, Zhao Jiechao saw his dark, brooding eyes and his low, unmoving tone, "You're right. A person's talents and survival foundation are laid at birth. You're just a self-important dog."

Zhao Jiechao was startled, his pupils dilating.

He suddenly recalled all the praise he had ever heard, which echoed in his ears like multiple layers of shadows.

They say he's a genius, that he'll eventually have a place in academia, that he's destined for greatness, and that he's a dragon that will soar sooner or later.

He not only has a good family background, but also the talent and ability to match it. No one in the world is better than him.

How could he not have talent? How could he not!

His mother said he would definitely win all the awards for her and make her proud.

Her pride.

The dust fell in rustling motions from Zhao Jiechao's trembling hands, only to be submerged by a drop of water.

He vaguely recalled his mother's obsessive and serious face, hoping again and again that he could bring her glory. How could he not be a genius?

How could that be?

He turned his head and glared at Chen Chi with hatred. "I fucking hate people like you the most! Why can't you stay away from me! Stay away from ordinary people like us! Why did you have to let me see this? Why did you have to let us see this with our own eyes!"

Chen Chi's expression was calm, his thin lips moved slightly, as if he was about to utter some harsh and unacceptable words, when a voice appeared first.

"Chen Chi, let go."

He turned around and saw Chu Sinian's unusually cold face in the distance.

Chen Chi let go.

"If you don't want things to escalate, you can still leave now." Next to Chu Sinian's cold and stern face was a phone screen displaying a dial to 110.

Sparse voices drifted from the crowd. They looked at each other, grabbed Zhao Jiechao, and tried to leave, but he slapped them away, yelling, "You all stay here, you fucking bastards!"

Nobody paid him any attention. They were just there to vent their anger, not to get beaten up!

They ran away from the alley without stopping, ignoring Zhao Jiechao's insults.

Zhao Jiechao, covered in dust, pointed at Chu Sinian and said, "You guys are all in cahoots. Chen Chi, you've got some skills, you've got some skills..." He gritted his teeth, his eyes red.

Chu Sinian turned around and looked behind him, then said to Zhao Jiechao, "Go back. You won't get the result you want today."

"I'm not going back! Why, why should I suffer his insults for nothing? I'm not going back, I'm going to get justice!" he said, tears streaming down his face.

“This has nothing to do with him, Zhao Jiechao. If you behave yourself, no one will have any objections. It’s you who are unwilling to accept it.”

"I don't care about his opinions, just make him give me back my championship, give me back my championship!"

The next second, a leg gust of wind carrying an extremely cold chill struck Zhao Jiechao's chest. He screamed and rolled to the ground again, his face contorted in pain as he was forced to look up. Chen Chi finally couldn't stand it anymore and grabbed his hair, pulling him up. "Idiot, nobody wants to stoop to your level. Champion? You don't even qualify."

"Ah! You fucking bastard Chen Chi, let me go, let me go!"

Chu Sinian frowned and grasped his wrist. "That's enough."

Chen Chi's gaze shifted to that fair and beautiful hand, slowly crawling to his eyes, which were filled with affection but which were suppressed by calmness. An unnamed rage surged into his heart.

"Who do you think you are to tell me what to do?" he said, then grabbed his wrist, his eyes turning sharp. "Who do you think you are? Have you forgotten what I said?"

Chu Sinian looked at the wrist that had been gripped so tightly that it turned blue, then used his other hand to grab Zhao Jiechao's arm and help him up. "Let's go first."

Zhao Jiechao still harbored resentment, and looked at Chu Sinian with a complicated expression, "Why did you stop him?"

"Stop talking nonsense!" Chu Sinian was unusually anxious.

Zhao Jiechao said to Chen Chi with hatred, "I will not let you go."

Chen Chi sneered, watching Zhao Jiechao limp out of the alley, then grabbed Chu Sinian and slammed him against the wall.

The already precarious wall plaster began to flake off white ash, and the dark ground was covered with scattered white specks, which filled Chu Sinian's clothes.

"What are you pretending to be, playing the good guy?" Chen Chi looked at him. "What are you trying to do by deliberately getting close to Zhao Jiechao?"

Chu Sinian did not speak.

Chen Chi grabbed his neck and said, "You recognized me at the bar that day. You were pretending to be drunk, weren't you?"

Chu Sinian paused for two seconds, "A bar?"

Without waiting for a reply, Chen Chi continued, "You really think I won't do anything to you?"

A barrage of questions led Chu Sinian to quickly pinpoint a common thread: Chen Chi had known he was in Dong'an all along.

Chu Sinian moved his head slightly, feeling uncomfortable in this restrained position. "How do you want to take revenge?" He smiled. "Kill me? Or cripple me? Or, like they did, have someone beat me up? What do you think?"

Chen Chi's hand, which was gripping the other man's neck, moved upwards with his index finger, pressing it against his throat. "How did you find me here?"

Chu Sinian cleared his throat and frowned. "Is it really that difficult to use connections to check the surveillance footage one by one?"

Chen Chi stared down at him, his tone firm: "There will be no next time."

Chu Sinian tried to lean back, but was firmly restrained. "What do you mean there won't be a next time? You don't believe me when I offer to help you."

Chen Chi applied a little more force, and Chu Sinian immediately pushed him away, saying, "That's enough."

“Zhao Jiechao is pretty stupid, but he has a kind of savage spirit.” After saying that, he covered the few bruises on his neck and turned to say, “That spirit is quite similar to yours, you know?”

Chu Sinian left.

Chen Chi's face was cold. He watched the shadow grow farther and farther away, then suddenly kicked it forward, raising a cloud of dust that formed a rotten smoke trail in the moonlight.

Kong Bo, who was waiting on the other end, kept checking his watch, looking somewhat uneasy and anxious.

Given his relationship with Chen Chi, he wasn't sure if Chen Chi would come. He knew that man somewhat; Chen Chi didn't care about social obligations, always doing whatever he pleased, and his heart was cold as ice.

If Chen Chi hadn't toned down his wildness after entering the business world, he probably would have disrupted the market.

Just as Kong Bo turned his gaze to the watch again, he noticed a man walking in through the door.

From his tall and imposing figure, he recognized Chen Chi almost immediately, and was nearly taken aback when he saw Chen Chi's expression, which was completely different from usual, as he approached.

Chen Chi's clothes were wrinkled, with large creases, and it was clear that the owner had no intention of tidying them up.

He sat down and looked at Kong Bo, getting straight to the point: "Eighty million, DK is yours."

Goodness, since they're acquaintances, they didn't bother with pretense and just started speaking in a domineering manner.

Out of politeness, Kong Bo asked casually, "Did something happen on the way? You don't look well."

Chen Chi gave a cold laugh, a smile that looked as if he had carved it out with a knife, which was chilling. "Fine, what's wrong with it?"

He resumed his usual unsettlingly indifferent expression. "Eighty million, with one additional condition."

Kong Bo suddenly rolled his eyes and asked, "What are the conditions?"

"I am preparing to acquire Roche, and you should not interfere. Furthermore, I will compensate you for the shares you hold at market price."

"Luo's Enterprises?" Kong Bo momentarily doubted his hearing. Although Luo's wasn't a leading enterprise, it was a local powerhouse with a vast portfolio of industries, ranging from finance to real estate. How could Chen Chi possibly take it over?

Kong Bo was still thinking when they started urging him on.

"Don't waste time if you can't reach an agreement."

Kong Bo snapped out of his reverie and said, "It's possible, but as a friend, let me remind you, Roche has a century-old foundation, it's not something a tech conglomerate like yours can swallow up. Even if you acquire it, how will you control the future direction of the business?"

Chen Chi stared at the wine on the table, took a swig, and said, "Who said I only have a tech group?"

He looked around at the bright lights in the restaurant and the exquisite appetizers on the table, and suddenly remembered Chu Sinian, who was chatting and laughing during the dinner that day.

Chen Chi's face darkened.
