True friends
Chen Chi walked unsteadily back into the house.
Chu Sinian had just finished taking his medicine when he saw that Chen Chi's body, hands, and even face were covered in blood.
He frowned and asked, "Do you really want to beat him to death?"
Chen Chi took off his coat, casually wiped himself off, and slowly walked over. "I didn't kill him."
Chen Chi sat down beside him, leaning on the bed for support, blood still smeared on his face. "I thought you'd be fine without me."
Chu Sinian felt a vague unease. "I've always been doing very well."
Chen Chi smiled, but his expression was unsettling, neither kind nor good-looking, as if he had been ripped out with a knife.
"The surgery a while ago, the three-year-long alcoholism, and almost getting raped while you were sick—Chu Sinian, how much better do you want things to be, huh?"
Chen Chi's dark pupils stared unblinkingly at him: "If I pester you any later, what kind of torment do you want to be tormented?"
He leaned closer to Chu Sinian, raising his hand to touch his cheek, but then noticed the stains on his hand out of the corner of his eye, so he clenched his fist and withdrew it.
He curled his lips slightly and asked in a gloomy tone, "Would you be angry if I were spying on you?"
Chu Sinian frowned. The person in front of him was trying to suppress his fierce aura in a disheveled manner, and he even looked somewhat pitiful.
A ripple suddenly stirred in his heart, a faint, bittersweet feeling.
Chu Sinian said in a muffled voice, "Impossible."
Chen Chi's eyes were bloodshot from holding back his anger. "Why do you always care about others and not about yourself?"
He said ominously, "Do you care about me too?"
Outside, there was a cacophony of processing noise; inside, there was utter silence, a silence that sounded both coercive and pleading.
Chu Sinian sensed something was amiss.
It's not just the insane demands of the people in front of me; who could remain so calm, calmly insane, in such an extreme environment?
He opened his lips, then closed them again, and said in a conciliatory tone, "Take me home."
Chen Chi's frozen pupils paused for a moment, and after a few seconds, he reached out and touched the hem of his clothes, slipped under his legs, and wrapped his arms around his back, easily pulling him into his embrace.
A surge of anger and rampant evil thoughts were suppressed in his chest.
Chen Chi swallowed the sour air and said in a hoarse voice, "You said before that you wanted to kick me out."
"Why are you so vengeful?" Chu Sinian felt the arm holding him stiffen, and waves of heat emanated from their bodies through the fabric.
He felt uncomfortable and wanted to move, but he didn't have the strength. "I want to sleep for a while."
Chen Chi walked steadily, looking at the pale face of the person in his arms, "Where do you feel unwell?"
Chu Sinian said, "No, bring your computer."
Chen Chi stopped in his tracks, his gaze turning completely somber as he looked at him.
Chu Sinian had a premonition that he would be finished if he said another word of nonsense. "I'm dizzy."
Chen Chi frowned, tightened his grip slightly, and said to his assistant, "Bring the laptop."
The two returned home, and the car drove through the hazy and chaotic Beijing night before stopping in front of their house.
The doors and windows of the house were tightly closed, and Chu Sinian was already asleep in the passenger seat.
Chen Chi pulled out Chu Sinian's phone, paused for a moment, then cracked the password and found his assistant's number. "Hello, this is Chen Chi."
The other person was a little slow to react, "Oh, what's wrong?"
Chen Chi said, "Tell me the house's password, and where is Chu Sinian's medicine?"
The assistant told him after a slight hesitation.
Chen Chi hung up the phone and glanced at Chu Sinian getting out of the car.
He opened the passenger door, and the sparse light from the yard spilled out, casting a dim yellow glow on Chu Sinian's furrowed brows, which were furrowed with unease.
Chen Chi leaned down and reached out to smooth the unease between his brows. "What are you worried about?"
The touch of his fingertips was smooth and delicate; he gently clung to it and quickly withdrew his hand.
Chen Chi slowly picked up Chu Sinian, feeling the weight in his arms gradually increase, and a strange sense of satisfaction welled up inside him.
Chu Sinian fell asleep in his arms.
This idea is both absurd and vague.
Chen Chi lowered his head and touched his hair with his chin; it was soft.
The cold wind blew up his coat, and he suddenly felt that fate had not treated him unfairly.
"I want to hide you away," he murmured.
The person in his arms frowned even more deeply, as if they had heard him.
Afraid that he would feel cold, Chen Chi quickened his pace and carried him back to the bedroom.
He placed the person on the bed, looking at their tired face, which appeared so pitiful in this chaotic and panicked night.
Chen Chi pressed down his lips, suppressing the overwhelming surge of heartache.
He seemed unable to bear it any longer, exhaled a hot breath, turned around and went to the living room to find the medicine to apply.
Chen Chi returned to the master bedroom, knelt down in front of his bed, and said softly, "I'll apply the medicine for you, don't be angry."
Chu Sinian fell into a deep sleep after taking the medicine, showing no signs of waking up.
Chen Chi stared at the sliver of white skin peeking out from his collarbone, clenching the medicine in his hand tightly. "If you don't say anything, I'll take that as your agreement."
In the dark and silent night, no one answered.
Chen Chi helped Chu Sinian sit up against the headboard and quickly unbuttoned four buttons.
All he could see was white skin. He bit his back teeth and applied the ointment to the back of his neck.
His hand trembled slightly when his eyes fell on the swollen skin, but he still managed to apply the plaster steadily.
Chen Chi put him back in bed, tucked the blanket in, and stood silently by the bedside.
Moonlight filtered through a thin gap, gently spreading across the soft blankets. The young man, fast asleep with his eyes closed, had a handsome face, but a small patch of hair hung down on the back of his neck, revealing a thin frame with the veins of his bones faintly visible beneath the skin.
He slept so peacefully, occupying such a small space that his protruding silhouette was almost invisible.
Chen Chi slowly bent down, his thousand restraints and ten thousand heartaches stuck in his throat.
He closed his eyes and placed a kiss on the side of the bed next to Chu Sinian's hand.
"Don't be afraid, just grow up well."
—
The hotel matter wasn't resolved until midnight.
To avoid trouble, the assistant took Xiao Yu to a property owned by an employee, which had absolutely nothing to do with Chu Sinian. He hired a medical team to look after him and had the house cordoned off inside and out, waiting for Chu Sinian to give instructions after he woke up.
Chu Sinian woke up very slowly, not opening his eyes and getting out of bed until 10:11 a.m.
He still felt a little weak, whether from exhaustion or drug residue was unknown.
The doctor in the living room had been waiting for a long time. As soon as Chu Sinian came in, he began to diagnose him. Fortunately, the medication had been completely diluted, and the slight muscle weakness was normal.
After instructing the doctor to return, Chu Sinian searched the house for Chen Chi's whereabouts.
But unexpectedly, the person disappeared.
He dialed his assistant's number, but because he had gone to bed late the night before, his assistant had just gotten up.
"Sir, I'm coming right away! I just asked the people over there, and Xiao Yu's mental state isn't good. His genital damage is irreversible, but he's alive and well."
"What did the Xiao family say?"
"Xiao Lin doesn't seem to know that Xiao Yu has disappeared. Xiao Yu doesn't live with them and rarely contacts them. He spends his days partying and only goes to work occasionally. The company and his family are used to his disappearing ways and haven't raised many suspicions."
Chu Sinian smiled and said, "It's all thanks to his dissolute ways, otherwise we would have had to deal with so much more trouble today." He leaned back and stretched. "Xiao Lin should be under pressure from all sides right now and is probably dealing with company affairs in a panic. Before he notices anything, we should force Xiao Yu to reveal the whole Hua Rui case."
Chu Sinian hung up the phone, lowered his eyes, and his mind flashed through the images of girls who had died because of his financial aid. Each of them was young and beautiful, with bright futures and vivid souls, but they had all turned into waste paper and dust, vanishing into thin air.
Xiao Yu, and all those princes, deserve to die.
He frowned, having anticipated the impending disaster and the overwhelming infamy, and did not back down.
At 11:23 a.m., the police and the supervisory department worked together and, with the help of an unidentified source, cracked a case of forced trading.
Xiao Lin, the head of the Xiao Group, used the names of his companies to coerce smaller, promising companies into transferring their shares at low prices through violence, threats, and intimidation. He also forcefully invaded the industry, dismissed most of the original employees without cause, and left nearly a hundred people homeless and destitute.
The Xiao family was immediately caught in a public relations crisis, and their stock price plummeted. The head office promptly took drastic measures to muddy the market, determined to drag others down and cause a series of business panics.
Chu Sinian was in no hurry to extricate himself. He even released information about the Chu family's past illegal activities that had not been uncovered during the illegal investigation. The police quickly intervened and investigated. Chu Zhuang heard the news but did not have time to scold his son. He decisively abandoned the subsidiary and completely severed ties with the illegal company.
One business case after another was exposed, and even the most oblivious person could sense the approaching footsteps and the hand controlling everything.
This bloody storm spread throughout the capital, and many businesses were investigated and arrested for numerous acts of corruption and malpractice. This marked the beginning of the darker side of the business world in Beijing.
Seeing this, Chu Sinian did not restrain himself. Instead, he secretly released all the information he had about the illegal activities of many companies, including his own.
Chu Sinian inevitably became a thorn in their side, and a barrage of insults came his way. Those in power at Tianmu feared that he would release leverage against their companies again, so they spared no effort to find him and try to silence him.
Meanwhile, Chu Sinian had returned to Dong'an, staying at the school and never leaving. He was always accompanied by bodyguards disguised as friends, as well as his true friends.
Ning Zicheng.
