Chapter 183 Not to Blame You

When Gu Xingyun hurried back after finishing his work, he happened to see Yan Huailiu squatting in the yard admiring the flowers.

The heart that had been hanging in my throat finally settled back into my stomach.

He wiped the sweat off his face and slowly walked over, carrying the gifts his fellow apprentices had asked him to bring: "Master."

Yan Huailiu looked back at him and pointed at the flower in front of him: "It looks like it's dying."

"Let me take a look." Gu Xingyun squatted beside him and carefully examined the condition of the flower.

The leaves near the roots are yellow and have strange little spots on them.

The flowers that were originally in full bloom have also wilted.

This is the only thing he has never bothered to do in all these years, and after checking it out, he doesn't know how to remedy the situation.

All he could say was, "I'll go to Wuya Peak and move a few more trees here in a few days."

Yan Huailiu laughed out loud: "Forget it, I don't want to collect your body. Didn't Chang Huan come with you? I thought he would come over and curse immediately."

"No, Junior Uncle just warned the disciples not to disturb Master's rest, and then went back."

Gu Xingyun helped him stand up, bent down to help him clean the dirt on the hem of his clothes, and then shook the gift in his hand.

"Junior Brother Ling and the others asked me to bring it here."

"Well... bring it in." Yan Huailiu turned around and went back into the house.

Gu Xingyun followed behind, his breathing became a little rapid, and he felt inexplicably uneasy.

The calmer his master appeared, the more frightened he became.

Whenever he takes action, he never gets nervous.

After putting the things on the table, Yan Huailiu did not open them immediately, but gestured for him to move them.

"You crushed the gift Kid Lightning gave me."

"Hmm? Oh." Gu Xingyun helped to tidy up the leaf that was pressed down.

He took out a handkerchief and helped clean the dirt at the roots of the grass jelly, for fear of dirtying the table.

While doing all this, Yan Huailiu watched from the side, his eyes gradually softening.

It’s not that Gu Xingyun didn’t notice his gaze, he just didn’t dare to face it.

When the table was wiped clean enough to be almost gleaming, Gu Xingyun took a deep breath and stood up, waiting for his own verdict.

But before Yan Huailiu could speak, he knelt down.

"Master, I'm sorry. What I did today was wrong."

He pulled out the long whip he had prepared long ago from his waist and handed it to Yan Huailiu: "Master, beat me until you calm down before you start scolding me. This disciple will not say a word."

Yan Huailiu was stunned for a moment, then tightened his grip on the whip and asked, "You have your own reasons, right?"

"Yes, I have reasons why I must do this."

Gu Xingyun would not lie at this time, he straightened his back and replied.

Yan Huailiu was silent for a moment, then continued to ask: "Did you consider the consequences when you decided to do this?"

"I imagined thousands of possible outcomes, but I still did it."

Gu Xingyun looked up into his eyes and spoke word by word, "Because only in this way can we force the Master to face up to his disciple's feelings."

"Only in this way can disciples have the opportunity to stand with Master openly and honestly, no matter how slim that chance is."

Yan Huailiu squatted down to meet his gaze: "Have you ever thought about whether I would be angry if you did this?"

"Disciple has..."

Gu Xingyun was about to speak when he was interrupted by Yan Huailiu.

"Have you ever thought that I might like you, but because you forced me like that, I gave up on this liking?"

Gu Xingyun swallowed back all the words he wanted to say. He looked at Yan Huailiu helplessly, trying to judge whether he was joking or not.

But when I met those serious eyes, my heart sank instantly.

"Disciple...disciple has never thought about it."

If he had dared to think in this way, he would not have done things so drastically.

Even though he shamelessly insisted that his master liked him, he was still not confident in his heart.

"I don't like being talked about, I don't like being stared at, I don't like being pushed into an awkward position, and I don't like being schemed against by the person I like and trust."

Yan Huailiu's tone was very light, even gentle.

But Gu Xingyun felt cold all over when he heard it.

Did he do something wrong again?

Did he destroy a potentially bright future with his own hands?

"I...disciple..." Gu Xingyun's back finally bent.

He held the hem of Yan Huailiu's clothes that were hanging on the ground, his tone full of panic: "Disciple didn't know, I'm sorry, Master, I'm sorry."

He didn't dare to look into Yan Huailiu's eyes: "I was wrong, please don't give up, okay? I know I was wrong, and I will never do this again, Master..."

But when he was drinking last night, he clearly...

"Master, you clearly said yesterday that you don't like me. You said you can't like me...you..."

Yan Huailiu couldn't remember what he said when he was drunk, but seeing Gu Xingyun's sudden annoyed expression and his retelling, he guessed a little.

"I said I can't like it, right?"

Based on his understanding of himself, the original words must have been like this.

Gu Xingyun nodded dejectedly: "Yes."

Yan Huailiu felt that he had sighed too much in the past two days, but he really couldn't help it.

He thought he had kept it a secret, but he didn't expect that his apprentice had already tricked him into revealing the secret.

"Master..." Gu Xingyun lowered his head and clutched his clothes, shouting in grievance: "Does this disciple have no chance?"

Yan Huailiu stood up with his hands on his knees: "I really don't like what you did to me today."

Gu Xingyun clenched his hands a little tighter.

"But I want to give myself a chance."

Gu Xingyun suddenly looked up: "Master?"

Yan Huailiu looked away, his ears reddening. "I'm not saying that to blame you, I'm saying that to let you know where my bottom line is."
