Seeing the young man's expression, the middle-aged male doctor felt a strange sense of relief. "Young man, don't focus too much on your career. You should also pay more attention to your girlfriend."
Seeing that Qiao Qian'an was still willing to listen to his advice, he didn't say anything more. He adjusted his glasses, typed a few words on the keyboard, and prescribed the medicine.
"That's fine."
Qiao Qian'an didn't waste any words. He took the medical card, left the doctor's office, and went to the front desk to pay for and pick up his medicine.
Mo Xiaoqing was led to the injection window by the nurse. After Qiao Qian'an brought the medicine, the nurse helped her with the IV drip.
The nurse seemed to have a gossipy nature, her gaze shifting back and forth between the two of them with a teasing look. She chuckled and joked, "Your boyfriend is so good to you. You have no idea how anxious he was just now, sweating buckets."
Mo Xiaoqing, "..."
Before the two of them could speak, the nurse started praising them incessantly, saying, "You two really do look equally good-looking, just like actors from a TV show."
"I'm not..."
Mo Xiaoqing was about to defend herself again when the older woman interrupted her once more, "Your girlfriend is so beautiful! Are you two getting married?"
Qiao Qian'an, the usually awkward Tyrannosaurus Rex, blushed for once. Although he didn't want to keep his feelings for Momo hidden, hearing others say that she was his girlfriend still made his heart pound uncontrollably, and his cheeks turned red instantly.
He had always known that he couldn't escape Mo Xiaoqing's smile and that sweet wine.
So he could only watch helplessly as he continued to sink deeper and deeper into depravity.
I'm hopelessly infatuated, unable to save myself, and can only unconsciously spoil her, like a marionette, having long ago been the only family I can accept.
She said she liked Ji Muhan and no one else but him, but she would never know that he had loved her for nine years. He had been obsessed ever since he overheard his parents talking when he was fifteen, saying that he liked her and wanted to settle down and get engaged after she came of age.
He thought he hated her. After all, he never liked being controlled. His parents said they wanted to settle her down without ever asking his opinion. How could he be so content with the status quo and follow such a pre-arranged path?
As he couldn't control his growing desire to get closer to her, he also pretended to dislike her more and more.
Unable to extricate himself, he used a harsh tone to mask his true feelings. Over time, he even deceived both sets of parents, and sometimes even he himself believed that he truly hated her.
But feelings can be so sudden. He didn't even know when he fell in love with her. Even after so much time had passed, when he learned that she had someone she liked, he felt a real panic—the first panic in over twenty years, and it was uncontrollable.
He realized that love had always been there, never leaving. No matter how he had deceived anyone else, in the end... he couldn't deceive himself.
Mo Xiaoqing was stunned when she heard what the nurse next to her said. She then immediately waved her hand and explained, "No, he is not my boyfriend. My boyfriend is in the army."
When Qiao Qian'an heard her words, which seemed to indicate she wanted to sever all ties with him immediately, his eyes dimmed for a moment. Filled with bitterness, he forced a smile and said, "I have something to do. Wait here for me for a bit. I'll go out and make a phone call."
Mo Xiaoqing watched as Qiao Qian'an walked out with somewhat unsteady steps, blinking as if she understood but not quite.
Then, throughout the whole process, the nurse gave them a strange look, as if to say, "Your boyfriend is in the military, so this is just a backup plan." She kept going back and forth between the two of them.
It was almost seven o'clock when the first bottle was finished, and the city was already shrouded in darkness with its lights on.
Qiao Qian'an originally planned to accompany her until she finished her IV drip, and then escort her home.
However, halfway through, Mo Xiaoqing made a phone call, asking Mo Tingqi to come over. Qiao Qian'an felt bitter inside, but he didn't show it on his face. He remained silent throughout, accompanying Mo Tingqi until he arrived at the hospital. They barely spoke another word to each other.
He thought,
Perhaps, he was too late after all… Mo Xiaoqing sat in the infusion area, smiling at him with a kind and understanding expression, “Thank you for today. Actually, I’m fine now. If you still have something to do, go ahead and do it. Don’t worry about me.”
She remembered that Qiao Qian'an had just said that he had something to do.
The implication was that he could leave if nothing else was wrong.
Qiao Qian'an smiled and said, "It's nothing serious. I'll take care of it in a bit."
So, with his company, Mo Xiaoqing finished her IV drip after another half hour.
Mo Tingqi arrived at the hospital just minutes before she finished her IV drip. "How are you feeling?"
Mo Xiaoqing smiled at him nonchalantly, "The doctor said it's just an acute gastroenteritis attack, nothing serious, Third Brother, you don't need to worry so much."
She wasn't just saying that to comfort him. The doctor had prescribed some painkillers, and after finishing the IV drip, she felt much better and wasn't in as much pain as before.
Mo Tingqi's ambiguous smile faded, replaced by eyes full of helplessness and doting affection. "You're already so old, yet you still make people worry. I tell you to take good care of yourself, but you always end up covered in bruises. How can anyone feel at ease?"
Mo Xiaoqing lowered her head, pretending to be obediently receiving instruction.
Both Ke Motingqi and Qiao Qian'an knew that she was not the kind of girl who would behave herself and listen to others' lectures.
