Chapter Sixty-Nine: Holding on like this makes you walk faster (Second update!)

Gao Xiaoxiao glared fiercely at Shen Shaolin, wanting to retort, but Wen Xin tugged at her sleeve. After thinking for a moment, she realized that she had no choice but to bow her head under someone else's roof, so she gritted her teeth and endured it.

Shen Shaolin curled his lips indifferently, and after venting his anger, he felt much better.

Don't assume that just because he acts harmless in front of Mo Xiaoqing, he has no temper at all. If you dare to lose your temper at this crucial moment, you'll have to endure his sarcastic remarks. He's not a good-tempered person.

Don't expect him to show any mercy to such an annoying woman.

"She can't understand human language, so talking so much is a waste of breath." Ji Muhan's voice was as flat as ever, neither warm nor cold.

However, the words he uttered were undeniably venomous!

If it can't understand human speech, does it understand animal speech?

"Xiaoxiao, stop making a scene and come back quickly. Those people in the woods are still searching for us. Where do you think you're going by yourself?" Professor Wen couldn't stand it anymore and spoke up when he saw that Gao Xiaoxiao was going a bit too far.

He had always known that this student of his was a bit arrogant and was always fawned over at school. However, she was extremely talented in biology, and as long as she didn't act arrogantly in front of him, he couldn't be bothered to care.

But what is the situation now? With her life hanging in the balance, can she still be allowed to throw a tantrum here?

"Yes, there are still their men chasing us in this forest."

"..." Gao Xiaoxiao's expression was somewhat distorted by the provocation of the group. She glared at Mo Xiaoqing resentfully, but said nothing more. She bit her lip indignantly and walked back to the group.

Wenxin was impressed by Gao Xiaoxiao's defiant reaction.

Shaking his head in disapproval, he thought to himself that if he didn't know Gao Xiaoxiao was inherently strong-willed, from a good family, and good-looking, making her stand out at school and thus quite successful with men, having had countless boyfriends.

This competitive spirit isn't inherently a bad thing, but if taken too far, it can become quite annoying.

Even if she had to choose, she would choose that little girl. Although she looked a bit young, she had a good personality, a pleasant voice, and her dimples when she smiled were so sweet they melted people's hearts.

No matter how coldly Captain Ji treated her, she still maintained her smile.

But it wouldn't work on Gao Xiaoxiao. If Captain Ji were to treat her coldly a few times, she would probably throw a tantrum. Even if they got together, their relationship wouldn't last. Relationships need maintenance, and being too arrogant is a double-edged sword, hurting both yourself and others.

On this point alone, Xiaoxiao lost to her.

Later, one day, Shen Shaolin suddenly asked Mo Xiaoqing why she hadn't retaliated.

He would always remember the little girl's nonchalant glance at him: "If a dog bites you, are you going to bite back? Isn't that stupid?"

That expression was exactly like Ji Muhan's arrogant and unruly demeanor.

Ji Muhan pulled Mo Xiaoqing aside, not even bothering to glance at Gao Xiaoxiao, and said indifferently, "Let's go."

They nodded, their expressions gradually becoming serious. They dared not chat any longer and quickened their pace to catch up with him.

Hiking in the rainforest is a very difficult task. The surroundings are full of weeds, branches and thorns, and they have to make their own way, stumbling and falling along the way.

Although there were people clearing the way for them.

However, it was still inevitable that they would get scratched and scraped on their heads. These pampered people suffered a lot. Before long, several of them had scratches all over their cheeks and necks.

"Some tree dews can even be poisonous, and scratches could lead to infection, so let's be careful." Looking at the biologists who were all disheveled, Shen Shaolin kindly offered his advice.

She was third to last, closely following Ji Muhan. She wasn't injured, but her hair was disheveled and covered in dust from the escape, making her look somewhat comical.

But the first few people weren't so lucky; the others were already in a sorry state.

Besides Ji Muhan, Shen Shaolin and Qi Guang walked at the front, as if nothing was happening to them, relaxed and at ease. Their ease and agility were in stark contrast to the few people scratching their heads.

"Hanhan, my feet hurt a little." Mo Xiaoqing's fingers habitually hooked onto Ji Muhan's sleeve.

"?" Ji Muhan turned around, glanced at the somewhat disheveled girl, and asked in a questioning tone.

"Could you let me hold your sleeve and walk with you? I can hardly keep up." Mo Xiaoqing looked at him pitifully.

Ji Muhan's eyes flickered upon hearing this.

The little girl's appearance certainly didn't seem fake.

I imagine I've never experienced anything like this at home.

It's already quite an achievement that they've managed to hold on until now.

Seeing that Ji Muhan didn't speak, Mo Xiaoqing turned around and continued walking forward. After a few steps, she carefully slid her hand down.

Seeing that he didn't react, she boldly reached into his palm and grabbed his hand.

Ji Muhan's eyes turned cold, and a slightly warm temperature suddenly entered his palm, causing him to frown and subconsciously try to shake off this strange feeling.

only--

"Hehe, it'll be faster to walk like this." Mo Xiaoqing was already on guard, and took the opportunity to slip her fingers between his fingers, their ten fingers intertwined.

The slightly cool temperature was quite refreshing, making her unable to help but grin.

It felt the same as the first time she touched it, yet it also seemed somewhat different.

The difference was—her heart seemed to be beating faster!

Gao Xiaoxiao noticed this scene and saw that the two of them were holding hands, and Ji Muhan did not shake off her hand. She was so angry that her eyes turned red. She glared at the two holding hands with gritted teeth, wishing she could rush up and separate them immediately.

Wenxin walked behind Gao Xiaoxiao, secretly observing her every move. When she saw Gao Xiaoxiao stop, she stared at her back with a somewhat distorted expression.

She looked back, and what she saw surprised her as well.

But she remained rational, looked away, and nudged Gao Xiaoxiao's shoulder, "Stop looking."

Xiaoxiao has always been proud and arrogant, with high standards; ordinary people simply cannot catch her eye.

And so, after much searching, she finally met such a powerful and perfect man, and her heart fluttered, only to find out he was already taken.

and--

Wenxin glanced back at Mo Xiaoqing, who was all smiles. Mo Xiaoqing had clear, bright pupils, arched eyebrows, long eyelashes that trembled slightly, fair and flawless skin with a faint blush, and thin lips that were as delicate and dewy as rose petals.

He sighed inwardly, thinking to himself, "She's such a pretty girl with such a sweet smile; who wouldn't be moved by her?"
