Chapter 51 Kong Jia's Diary
The next day, Chu Runrun, Ge Hanlin and Tian Yuyuan found Kong Jia's residence based on the address. It was a dilapidated residential building crowded with countless people who had lived there for decades.
"Donglin Bay is a famous slum. Most of the people here are migrant workers from other places. After Kong Jia's parents divorced, Kong Jia lived here with his mother. There is a chess and card room at the corner in front. Kong Jia's mother should be there!" An enthusiastic resident showed them the way.
"Thank you, uncle!"
When Chu Runrun and the other two walked over, they saw a group of middle-aged people in their forties and fifties gathered there, smoking cigarettes and picking their feet, chatting about trivial family matters.
The chess and card room next door was even more smoky and noisy, and also filled with the smell of sweat and cigarettes.
Chu Runrun and Ge Hanlin were of course not willing to go in, so they both looked at Tian Yuyuan.
Tian Yuyuan is not a germaphobe, but he doesn't want to squeeze among these old men and women, so he suddenly has an idea and pulls out a stack of banknotes from his bag and throws it into the air.
"Hey, who dropped their money?"
Tian Yuyuan shouted into the chess and card room, and the people inside were immediately attracted.
"Money! Someone's throwing money!"
There were more than twenty people crammed into the small chess and card room, both men and women, all swarming out.
Tian Yuyuan quickly found Kong Jia's mother Zhao Mei by comparing the photos.
"Are you Zhao Mei?" Tian Yuyuan grabbed the woman.
The woman was holding a few banknotes in her hands. Seeing Tian Yuyuan's expensive-looking clothes, she squinted and said:
"It's me! Who are you?"
"We are Kong Jia's old friends, let's come to see him!" Tian Yuyuan said.
"Kong Jia's friend?" Zhao Mei said in disbelief.
"How is that possible? How could Kong Jia have friends as rich as you?"
"Um...we knew each other a long time ago, it's normal that you didn't know!" Tian Yuyuan said quickly.
"Oh! Then you've come all the way here in vain. Kong Jia is already dead!"
Zhao Mei said casually, as if the one who died was not her son.
"Dead? How did he die?" Tian Yuyuan asked in surprise.
"He was burned to death at school!" Zhao Mei said impatiently.
"Kong Jia is your son, why aren't you sad at all?" Ge Hanlin frowned.
"What's there to be sad about? It would be better if he died. He's just a burden that's preventing me from getting married!" Zhao Mei's face was full of disgust.
"You..." Ge Hanlin couldn't stand it, and before she could finish her words, she heard a shout from the chess and card room:
"Zhao Mei, are you still going to fight? Hurry up!"
"Here I come!" Zhao Mei shouted and left.
"Hey! Why is this guy like this?" Ge Hanlin said angrily.
"Okay! Taozi, seeing how she is, she won't know even if we ask her! Let's think of another way to find out!" Chu Runrun said.
"How can such a person be worthy of being a mother? She doesn't even care about her own son. No wonder Kong Jia would do such extreme things!" Ge Hanlin said angrily.
The three of them left the alley.
"Hey, look, isn't that Kong Jia's home?" Tian Yuyuan said, pointing to a very small door.
"No. 39 Donglin Bay, it seems so! The door there seems to be open!"
Ge Hanlin hurried over and pushed the door open gently.
"The door is not closed, come in!"
"Is it okay for us to enter someone's house like this?" Tian Yuyuan said guiltily.
"We are not stealing anything. Let's look for it. Maybe we can find some clues about Kong Jia!" said Ge Hanlin.
Chu Runrun looked around. The room was dirty and messy. The bed was very damp and even moldy in places. The kitchen and bedroom were connected and were full of dirty dishes that had not been washed.
"This Zhao Mei is really amazing. She can even live in a place like this!" Ge Hanlin said, pinching his nose.
"How clean do you think a person who has lost hope in life can live!" Chu Ruanruan said.
There were two beds in the bedroom, one of which was already piled with miscellaneous items. Chu Runrun guessed that was where Kong Jia had slept before.
Among the clutter on the bed, Chu Ruanruan found a diary with Kong Jia's name written on it.
Chu Runrun opened the first page and saw a large area of bright red. It was not painted with paint, but real human blood.
"My parents divorced, and neither of them wanted me. In the end, the court awarded me to my mother. My mother despised me as a burden, and she couldn't marry again if I was with her.
I know my mother hates me, but I don’t hate her, at least she didn’t abandon me! If I died, maybe my mother would be better off! "
Chu Runrun's heart was gripped tightly, and then she turned over.
"Today, Dean Qian chose me to be his class representative. He praised me for my diligence and I was very happy, but my classmates didn't seem so happy!
They said I was Dean Qian's lackey. They pushed me down the stairs, stuffed a dead mouse into my desk, and poured water on my bed. I was so sad. Why did they hate me so much just because I was a class representative?
The bottom of the paper was stained red with blood. Chu Runrun could imagine how many wounds Kong Jia had cut on his wrist while writing the diary.
"Today I finally understood that they didn't hate me, but they hated Director Qian because Director Qian destroyed their dreams.
Becoming Director Qian's class representative meant that I was no longer in the same camp as them, so I went to find Director Qian and told him that I didn't want to be a class representative anymore.
Director Qian agreed, and I happily told my classmates that I am now in the same camp with you and I am not a lackey.
But Director Qian found out what they had done to me and punished them. They thought I was the one who reported them, so they tortured me even more!
They pressed me into the toilet, tore my clothes and forced me to walk out naked. I was very scared and begged them not to do this to me, but in return they punished me even more cruelly.
I ran home like a madman. My legs were bleeding and it hurt so much, but my heart hurt even more because the first thing my mother said when she saw me was, why did you tear your clothes? These clothes are very expensive!
At that moment, I was desperate. I had a big fight with my mother and ran away to spend the night in the bridge hole. I wanted to die, but it seemed like there was something I had not done.
I can't just die like this, it would be meaningless. I want to make those who bullied me pay the price!"
Chu Runrun clenched her hands tightly. She thought Kong Jia was so extreme because he was bullied, but she didn't expect that he was harmed like this. Those people were not just teenagers in their youth, but devils in human skin!
Chu Ruanruan continued to turn the pages.
"Haha... I finally found an opportunity. Wang Song and his men threatened me to steal gasoline from my mother's workplace and blow up Director Qian, so I gave them the gasoline, but it wasn't enough.
They say Director Qian ruined them, but didn't they ruin me as well? Since we've all made mistakes, we should all receive the same punishment. All these evils should end, and mine...should end too!
This is the last page of the diary. Chu Ruanruan closed the book with cold eyes.
