After the exam, Bai Xiaoruo and Ji Shushu came out of the school together.
Just as I reached the door, my phone rang in my bag.
Bai Xiaoruo and Ji Shushu's conversation came to an abrupt end.
"Shushu, I need to take this call first."
"Okay."
Bai Xiaoruo took out her phone from her bag and looked at it. The caller ID showed it was Uncle Chen.
Strange, why would Uncle Chen suddenly call me?
She pressed the call button—
"Hello? Chen..."
[Bai Xiaoruo, are you a pig? Stop dawdling and get in the car!]
The voice on the other end of the phone sounded very impatient from Xian Mingyu.
Bai Xiaoruo took the phone away from her ear and looked at it. This was Uncle Chen's number, but why was it Xian Mingyu's voice?
Oh right! I almost forgot, his phone is still with his grandpa. He said it contains a lot of important things, and he doesn't have another phone to use for the time being.
Bai Xiaoruo looked around. There were so many cars parked around, she didn't know which one belonged to Xuan Mingyu. "Um... where's your car? You could at least wave to me, I can't see it."
[What are you waving at me for! I'm right across from your school, get over here right now!]
"oh!"
Honestly, can't he just talk properly? He's always so fierce and yelling, making it seem like she's begging him to come pick her up.
Bai Xiaoruo hung up the phone and looked apologetically at Ji Shushu beside her, "Sorry Shushu, someone's here to pick me up, I have to go first, I can't go back with you."
"Huh? Who's here to pick you up? Xiao Bai, can you take me with you? You have a car, just give me a ride~" Because all the family drivers were busy tonight, Ji Shushu was originally going to take a taxi home by herself and have some company with Bai Xiaoruo. Now that Bai Xiaoruo has someone to pick her up, it's a rare opportunity to hitch a ride, so why not take it?

He hadn't seen that little girl for several hours and missed her terribly. Xuan Mingyu thought that only Bai Xiaoruo got on the car, but as soon as the car door opened, he heard Ji Shushu's loud scream.
"Wow! It's Xiaobai's cousin! Xiaobai, you're so lucky. Your cousin actually came to pick you up. Unlike my brother, who's always busy with his own things and has never come to pick me up even once."
Bai Xiaoruo chuckled awkwardly, unsure of what to say.
Her gaze met Xian Mingyu's face, which was as dark as could be, and she knew he was angry.
"Shushu, let me sit inside. I'll take you home first."
"Oh right, you go in first."
Ji Shushu made way for Bai Xiaoruo to get into the car first.
Bai Xiaoruo and Ji Shushu got into the car together, closed the door, and Uncle Chen quickly started the car and drove forward.
First, send Ji Shushu back to the Ji family home, then return to the new courtyard.

Throughout the journey, Ji Shushu chattered incessantly like a little bird.
Xuan Mingyu turned his head to look out the car window in annoyance; the whole car was filled with Ji Shushu's cheerful laughter.
He hates noisy women.
Women never run out of gossip to talk about, and Bai Xiaoruo was like a listener, mostly listening to Ji Shushu talk about it, as if she could never finish.
"Xiao Bai, do you know what? I saw Xiao Ya Ran when I went to the convenience store near my house a couple of days ago. She can't go back to school now, but she still acts all high and mighty. She was leaning against a lamppost with a few women, smoking. I never thought she would end up so down and out."
"I see... She didn't see you, did she?"
"No, I only glanced at her a few times before running home. I'm still shaken by what happened that day. It was thanks to your cousin that we were able to find the person who framed you. She deserves what she got and doesn't deserve any sympathy."
"Perhaps... Let bygones be bygones."
Bai Xiaoruo had long forgotten what Xiao Yaran had done to her. She didn't want to pay attention to Xiao Yaran's actions anymore, nor did she want to hold a grudge. She just wanted them to live peacefully and not disturb each other.
However, it is indeed a pity for her. If she hadn't done those wrong things, she wouldn't have ended up like this today.
"Oh right, cousin Xiaobai, I saw you in the newspaper last time, but then somehow, all the headlines about you disappeared the next day. I don't know where all the newspapers in my house went. Xuan Mingyu turned and glanced at Bai Xiaoruo, whose face was full of guilt. A smile appeared on his lips. They were wearing thick winter clothes, and the three of them filled the back seat of the car, making the space inside quite cramped. Taking advantage of Ji Shushu not noticing what was behind them, Xuan Mingyu casually put his arm around Bai Xiaoruo's waist and slipped his hand inside her school uniform jacket. "Well... that depends on what my wife thinks, right?"
His gaze fell on Bai Xiaoruo, as if he were speaking directly to her.
"You!" His hand suddenly reached into her coat, startling Bai Xiaoruo. She didn't dare to openly pull his hand out, so she glared at him irritably while still smiling and talking to Ji Shushu. "Hehe, maybe."
