What attitude do you think I should have?
Bai Xiaoruo didn't want to directly break ties with Xian Mingyu. She knew she had no right to be angry with him, let alone interfere in his affairs. But she felt suffocated and very uncomfortable. She couldn't pretend she knew nothing and that nothing had happened, and continue to fawn over him like a fool.
The best they could be like they were when they were newlyweds a few months ago, each doing their own thing and ignoring each other. Her peaceful little life would be happier than her current oppressive one.
This trip has reached its limit; that's enough.
He's so busy, let him go and spend time with other people. He doesn't need to play the role of a good husband in front of her anymore.
He was tired, but she was even more tired than him.
"you......"
He was just about to say something to her when his phone rang again, only a few minutes after he hung up.
It was obvious that it was Su Yulu calling.
Hsien Ming-yu glanced at the caller ID on his phone screen, stood up again, and walked outside to answer the call.
Bai Xiaoruo sat quietly in her seat, feeling a pang of sadness in her heart.
She longed to muster the courage to stop him from answering the call from that girl named Luo'er; she longed to be domineering and hold him tight, preventing him from leaving.
But I'm just so useless, I can't do anything.
When Xian Mingyu finished the call and walked back, it was more than half an hour later.
Su Yuluo on the other end of the phone was even more clingy than when they met in person, calling him for the smallest things.
Her emotions remained very unstable, and fearing that she might do something as extreme as last time, Xian Mingyu didn't treat her too harshly. He could only try to coax her. He had explained to her countless times when he would return, but Su Yulu was still very insecure and always worried that he wouldn't come back to her.
Back at the restaurant, Xuan Mingyu had no appetite. He noticed that Bai Xiaoruo looked unwell, perhaps she was annoyed by his frequent outings.
"Come on, I'll take you out for a stroll."
Xian Mingyu reached out and handed the hand to Bai Xiaoruo. She didn't say anything, placing her soft little hand in his palm and silently letting him lead her out of the restaurant.
This dinner ended rather unpleasantly.
***
The temple fair was very lively tonight, and Bai Xiaoruo's mood gradually improved as she watched the bustling streets.
She looked around, browsing here and there, showing great interest in the trinkets sold in the market.
Hsien Ming-yu stood beside her, holding her hand tightly.
There are many people coming and going here, and it's easy to get separated from her if you're not careful.
They had been holding hands for so long that their hands were sweating. There was a small stall in front of them with some very cute ceramic rabbits. Bai Xiaoruo tugged at Xian Mingyu's hand and said, "I want to buy this."
She only wanted one, but after Xuanmingyu had a conversation in Japanese with the stall owner, the owner couldn't stop smiling and bought all the ceramic dolls on the stall.
He reached into the inside pocket of his coat to find his wallet to pay, and just then he let go of Bai Xiaoruo's hand.
As Xuan Mingyu paid and prepared to receive the large pile of ceramic dolls packed by the shopkeeper, his phone rang again in his pocket.
He didn't even bother to look at Bai Xiaoruo beside him. He took the ceramic doll that the shopkeeper had packed up, took out his phone, and answered the call with his back to Bai Xiaoruo.
Without exception, it was Su Yulu calling again.
"Luo'er, what's wrong?"
[Yu, I wanted to eat walnuts just now, but I hit my finger with the hammer, it hurts so much.] Su Yuluo's sobbing voice came from the other end of the phone.
The distance between them was vast, and even if she told him this, there was nothing he could do to help her.
Hsien Mingyu coaxed her helplessly, "Be more careful next time. If you want to eat walnuts, just ask A-Yan to crack them open for you."
[No way~ If he opens it for me, the walnuts will smell like his hands. Yu, my hands hurt so much. I feel so useless without you here. I miss you so much.]
Yesterday she cut her finger with a kitchen knife, two hours ago she looked down at her phone for too long and twisted her neck when she looked up too hard, an hour ago she bumped her foot on the corner of a table, and now she hit her hand with a small hammer while cracking walnuts. Xian Mingyu is really frustrated. How come all sorts of misfortunes happen to her when he's not around?
Besides, where did she get the hammer? Why didn't she use a special pair of tongs to clamp it?
"I understand. Is there any bleeding? Tell Ayan to call a doctor to come and take a look. Is it serious?"
[There's no bleeding, but it hurts so much~ Yu, when are you coming back? Why do I have to wait so long?]
Bai Xiaoruo stood beside Xuan Mingyu, and she vaguely heard some of their conversation.
She lowered her eyes; he had never cared about her like this before.
Even when helping her apply ointment, she would first make a few sarcastic remarks, either calling her stupid or showing great impatience.
Yes, she's just stupid, hopelessly stupid.
Bai Xiaoruo continued walking forward unconsciously. She didn't want to hear Xuan Mingyu talking on the phone with that woman anymore. Her heart ached so much.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, her gaze was once again drawn to the small vendors on the side.
I didn't eat much for dinner, and now I'm a little hungry again.
She walked up to the vendor and looked at the golden liquid being fried in a small pan; it looked delicious.
Bai Xiaoruo turned around, wanting Xuan Mingyu to buy it for her, but as soon as she turned around, she found that there was no sign of Xuan Mingyu in the crowded people coming and going.
Where are the others?
Wait a minute, wasn't he talking on the phone with his back to her the whole time? Why did he suddenly disappear?
