In the end, dinner was eaten by only Xian Mingyu. Bai Xiaoruo only ate two bites of rice and a little bit of vegetables, and couldn't eat anything else.
She even lost her appetite for her favorite mushrooms.
Xuan Mingyu wanted to coax her upstairs to sleep, but Bai Xiaoruo was still thinking about her TV series.
I sat in front of the sofa at exactly 10 o'clock sharp, waiting.
Bai Xiaoruo didn't eat much tonight, and fearing that her body couldn't handle it, Xian Mingyu squeezed a glass of orange juice for her.
I didn't want her to eat such cold fruit in winter, but she can't drink milk right now, so I had to make her orange juice.
After squeezing the orange juice and pouring it into a glass, Xuan Mingyu didn't give it to Bai Xiaoruo immediately. Instead, he put the orange juice and glass in warm water for a while until it was no longer icy cold before giving it to her.
"Drink it, this shouldn't make you feel nauseous."
Bai Xiaoruo was engrossed in watching the TV series when Xuan Mingyu suddenly handed her a glass of orange juice, much to her delight.
This is her favorite drink right now.
Wasn't he always against her drinking this kind of juice? Why did he suddenly take pity on her and make it for her to drink?
Bai Xiaoruo took the orange juice from Xian Mingyu, but did not drink it immediately.
The cup felt warm to the touch, which surprised Bai Xiaoruo. Hmm? Could this be boiled juice?
Will boiling the juice cause diarrhea if I drink it?
Xuan Mingyu looked at her with her brows furrowed and a suspicious expression.
He had finally managed to warm the orange juice with lukewarm water for a while, and if she just held it like that without drinking it, it would get cold again.
"Drink it quickly, we didn't poison you, what are you thinking?"
Bai Xiaoru pouted. She hadn't said she wouldn't drink it, yet he was being so fierce, as if she owed him something. "I want it iced."
"There's no ice."
"Why?"
"If you don't want it, then don't. Give it back to me." He spent several minutes peeling fruit and juicing it for her, and she still wants something cold? Even if she wasn't pregnant, he wouldn't let her drink anything cold in winter.
"Okay, I'll drink it then." Bai Xiaoruo carefully protected the orange juice in her hand, as if afraid that Xuan Mingyu would snatch it back.
Since he allowed her to drink this, she might as well drink it; it would be such a waste to let it go to waste.
She took a small, tentative sip from the rim of the glass.
It's sweet with a mild sour taste, just like oranges. However, it's served at room temperature, without any of the coolness you'd expect in this season; it's just a warm, comforting drink.
It tastes pretty good.
While drinking, Bai Xiaoruo couldn't help but ask Xian Mingyu, "Won't drinking this give me diarrhea?"
"How could I possibly get diarrhea? I always pick the best and freshest oranges."
"But you boiled this, are you sure it's okay to drink it?" Bai Xiaoruo was hesitant to drink any more of the orange juice in her hand, fearing that she would have a stomachache and need to go to the toilet if she drank too much.
"Who said I took it to cook?" It turned out that this was the issue she had been worried about all along.
No wonder he kept staring at the cup and wouldn't drink.
"If it wasn't cooked, why isn't it cold?"
"If you put the orange juice in warm water to warm it up for a while, will it still be cold?"
In addition, the room is heated, there is almost no cold wind, and the warm water will not cool down so quickly. The temperature rises easily, which naturally keeps the orange juice at room temperature.
Although he asked her a question in return, Bai Xiaoruo immediately understood what Xian Mingyu meant.
It turns out that he didn't boil the orange juice, but rather warmed it with lukewarm water.
Bai Xiaoruo looked down at the cup in her hands, and felt a little touched for no reason. It was the first time she had known that he had such a thoughtful side.
She knew he meant well, and that he didn't want her to eat or drink anything cold because he was thinking about her health and the baby. But she still couldn't resist the urge to secretly drink iced juice outside.
Looking back now, I feel a little guilty. He cares about her so much, how could she let him worry about her all the time?
Bai Xiaoruo finished the orange juice in her glass in a few gulps.
She placed the empty glass on the coffee table and tugged at Xian Mingyu's sleeve. "I've finished my orange juice. Sit down."
He stood there with a serious, stern face, but Bai Xiaoruo still longed to see him smile more.
Whenever she had something to say to him, she would always tug at his sleeve and whine first.
As soon as Xian Mingyu sat down, Bai Xiaoruo immediately moved closer to him, wrapped her arms around his arm, and leaned her head on his shoulder.
He pointed to the television in front of him and said, "Look, don't we look like these two people on screen now?"
Xian Mingyu followed the direction Bai Xiaoruo was pointing—
On the television, the backs of two elderly people with white hair were being shown. They were dressed simply, and their hands were tightly clasped together.
Even though we can't see their faces, we can still sense from this heartwarming scene that their faces must be beaming with happiness.
Xian Mingyu glanced at the person leaning on his shoulder. Yes, if he could be like those two elderly people on TV, like grandparents, loving each other deeply even as they grow old, how wonderful that would be.
He was about to reach out and touch her when Bai Xiaoruo's next words were quite a mood killer.
"You're so much older than me, who knows, by then your hair will be all white while I'll still have a full head of black hair."
He's only eight years older than her, not twenty-eight or forty-eight years older. How could there be such a big difference?
Her next words made him give up the urge to spank her.
"But I don't want you to grow old, I don't want the distance between you and me to grow further and further... If one day we really have to face death, I hope that the person who leaves this world first is me."
