"Bai Xiaoruo!"
As soon as Song Meiyan returned, she stormed into Bai Xiaoruo's room.
Bai Xiaoruo had just taken an afternoon nap, and after only half an hour, Song Meiyan grabbed her by the ear and lifted her up by the arm.
Her stepmother, who used to treat her with even the slightest pretense, is now increasingly revealing her true colors.
After her beloved daughter went to prison, Song Meiyan couldn't stand Bai Xiaoruo no matter what she did. She felt that Bai Xiaoruo was a jinx, and all the good things happened to her, while all the bad things happened to Bai Xiaoruo. She was really unlucky.
"Ugh... what's wrong?" Bai Xiaoruo was in so much pain that tears were almost welling up in her eyes, and she reluctantly opened them.
I was just taking a nap, did I break the law?
"Get up right now! What are you sleeping for? It's so late!"
Song Meiyan shoved Bai Xiaoruo hard. "The Xian family will be here in an hour. Do you really think you can just stop caring about your dad and me now that you're going to the Xian family to enjoy life?"
"I didn't..." Bai Xiaoru rubbed her arm, which had been pulled red, feeling wronged. Even if the Xuan family was coming, no one told her exactly what time it was. She couldn't go anywhere except her room, which was incredibly boring and stifling. All she did was take a nap, and she still got scolded.
"What are you all still standing outside for! Get in here and comb the young lady's hair! If you're wasting time, you're all fired!"
"Yes." The makeup artists and maids standing outside the door quickly entered Bai Xiaoruo's room one by one.
"You have half an hour to clean her up from head to toe, and take off those lousy glasses right now. She looks like a country bumpkin; it's embarrassing to take her out!" Song Meiyan cursed and gestured a few times before turning and leaving the room.
Bai Xiaoruo was led to a desk by several makeup artists and maids, where a mirror was placed and they prepared to begin applying makeup to her.
As soon as her glasses were taken off, Bai Xiaoruo felt completely insecure. "Um, could you please not take my glasses off? I can't see anything without them."
"Miss, don't worry, we have already prepared contact lenses for you in advance. The prescription is similar to your glasses prescription, so it won't affect anything. In fact, it will make you look even more beautiful in front of others."
Bai Xiaoruo didn't particularly care whether he was pretty or not. The Xuan family was coming soon, and she just hoped that the man she was supposed to marry wouldn't be too ugly, or at least not some middle-aged man.

He wasn't interested in who his so-called fiancée was.
Bai Minglei and Song Meiyan stood at the door, their smiles utterly fake.
Lin Suqing and Xian Zhengsen were most concerned about Bai Xiaoruo, whom they hadn't seen for almost two weeks. They wondered where the little girl had gone and why she hadn't come to greet them yet.
Lin Suqing: "Where's Xiaoruo? Is she still at school and hasn't come back yet?"
"Yes, yes, yes, Xiao Ru is busy getting ready in her room as soon as she heard you were coming. I'll go in and call her out right now." Song Meiyan said with an awkward smile, preparing to go into the room and call Bai Xiao Ru out.
"No need, we're going in anyway, let's just go in and see her."
Yes, yes, yes.
Although Bai Xiaoruo was wearing contact lenses, her vision was still a little blurry because the prescription wasn't quite right, and she had to get closer to see clearly.
