Chapter 27 Do You Have a Boyfriend?

Bai Xiaoruo took the bus all the way to the neighborhood she had arranged with Annie on the phone.

After taking the elevator to the designated floor and finding the exact room door, I took a deep breath before raising my hand to knock on the door.

"Coming! Coming!" Within seconds, the people inside responded.

Annie was still wearing her pajamas and had a face mask on her face that hadn't dried yet. When Bai Xiaoruo saw her, she was startled and wondered if she had knocked on the wrong door.

"Xiao Ruo is here, come in quickly."

"Sister Annie, I'm sorry to bother you."

"Oh, what are you doing bothering me? I've been so bored at home these past few days... You don't need to change your shoes, I haven't even mopped the floor yet, just put them on and come in. Go sit on the sofa and wait for me, I'm going to wash my face."

"Okay, sure."

When Bai Xiaoruo entered the room, she was instantly stunned.

Things were scattered everywhere, clothes that had been changed or worn were thrown on the sofa, cooking spatulas and washing basins were thrown on the floor with water stains still visible, leftover snacks were left on the table, and fruit peels and melon seed shells were scattered all over the place. The whole house was a mess, and there was nowhere to sit. You had to hop around to find a small, clean spot to stand.

How can anyone live in a house like this?

Bai Xiaoruo pushed the things on the coffee table to make a little space, and then put the things she was carrying on it.

Since we're already here, let's help tidy up; I really can't stand it anymore.

Bai Xiaoru rolled up her sleeves and began tidying up the house.

A dozen minutes later, Annie came out of the bathroom. Bai Xiaoruo had tidied up most of the house. Although it wasn't sparkling clean, it wasn't as messy as when she first entered. Dirty clothes and pants were thrown into the laundry basket, and clothes without odors were neatly folded and placed aside. The trash on the table and the floor had been taken care of and filled into the trash can. Bai Xiaoruo was mopping the floor with a bucket and a mop. If you didn't look closely, you would think that a cleaning lady had been hired sometime during the day.

I've only been gone a short time, and the house has changed so much so quickly. It's like magic; everything has found its rightful place.

"Oh my god!" Annie screamed when she saw everything in the house that had been cleaned up. "Xiao Ruo, you, you...you, you..." Annie was so excited that she didn't know what to say. Of all the friends who had visited her, Bai Xiao Ruo was definitely the first person who cleaned up her house without saying a word.

"Sister Annie, what's wrong?" Bai Xiaoruo finished mopping the floor and pushed up her glasses. "I just saw that your room was too messy, so I took the liberty of tidying it up for you... Is it that things are not in the right place?"

“No, no…” Annie ran happily to Bai Xiaoruo and hugged her tightly. “Xiaoruo, you’re such a lovable girl! How can you be so kind? I’m so touched. In all my life, no one except my mom has ever cleaned my house. You’ve only been to my house for the first time and you’ve already cleaned so much. How can I accept that?”

"It's nothing, just a small favor. Besides, Annie, your house isn't that big, so it's very easy to clean." Compared to the Bai family having to clean the entire living room and every room on the second floor, this was an incredibly easy task for Bai Xiaoruo.

"Oh dear, I don't even know how to thank you. Okay, okay, hurry up and put the mop down. I invited you to my house not so you could be my cleaning lady. Come on, sit on the sofa first, I'll go get you some juice from the fridge." Annie pulled Bai Xiaoruo to sit on the sofa, then went to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and took out two cans of chilled juice.

"Here, drink up. You must be tired from the journey. If my darling hadn't driven out today, I would have driven to pick you up." Annie opened a can of juice for Bai Xiaoruo and handed it to her.

"It's okay, Sister Annie, it's not that far." Bai Xiaoruo took the juice, took a sip, and found it to be icy sweet and delicious.

Annie opened the other can of juice and gulped it down.

"By the way, Sister Annie, thank you so much for what happened that night. I can't afford any expensive gift to thank you, so these are some small snacks I made myself. I hope you like them." Bai Xiaoruo took one of the beautifully packaged boxes from the table and handed it to Annie.

"Snacks? You made them yourself? My goodness, how can you be so amazing? Anyone who marries you is a true hero! You can do housework and make snacks, you're incredible!" Annie quickly put the juice bottle on the table, took the box from Bai Xiaoruo, and eagerly untied the ribbon to open it.

"Wow! It's so pretty!" Annie casually took out a pink star-shaped pastry from the box, popped it into her mouth, and ate it in one bite. "Mmm, it's so delicious! It's even better than the cakes I buy at the bakery outside." She took another pastry from the box and ate it in one bite as well.

It has a soft and fluffy texture, a fragrant taste, and is not greasy or too sweet. It has a light and refreshing sweetness, which is really delicious.

"I'm glad you like it, Annie. I'll come visit you again when I have time, and I can make some more for you."

"Okay, okay... Oh no, I shouldn't bother you so much. You've come all this way, and I'm always thinking about the food you brought me. I feel so bad. How about you teach me how to make them? These are such delicious snacks. If I could make them for my sweetheart myself, he would definitely be very happy."
