Duan Meishan argued with Yang Xueli because she refused.
Yang's mother naturally sided with her daughter.
Yang Xuechang wasn't there, so the situation turned into the two women bullying Duan Meishan together.
"Shanshan, just stick to your guns on this. What can they do? They can't possibly steal your household registration book, can they? Even if they did, they're not the head of the household and have no right to decide who can be registered in your household!"
As they were talking, Fang Ru came out of the kitchen carrying two plates of stir-fried dishes.
"Jingya, come and eat."
She turned around and called out to Gu Huaiqian again.
Gu Huaiqian was holding Rui Rui on the balcony watching the sunset.
Seeing that the family was about to eat, Duan Meishan got up to say goodbye.
Fang Ru took her hand and said, "Shanshan, you and Tiantian haven't eaten yet, have you? Why don't you eat at my house before you leave!"
Duan Meishan said apologetically, "No, I won't bother you any longer."
Fang Ru laughed and said, "Look at you, child. What's your relationship with Jingya? What's your relationship with Xuechang and Zhiyun? Why are you talking about disturbing us?"
Duan Meishan couldn't refuse their hospitality, so she and Tiantian stayed for dinner.
Just as Fang Ru handed the bowl of rice to Tian Tian, there was a knock on the door.
Shen Jingyan went to open the door and saw Yang's mother standing there with an unhappy expression.
Without even greeting Shen Jingyan, she craned her neck and shouted towards the living room:
"Shanshan, what time is it? Why aren't you home cooking? Your third sister is visiting us for the first time. She's been on the train for a whole day and night and hasn't even had a hot meal yet!"
Duan Meishan remained seated without moving or turning around.
"Mom, there are vegetables, meat and eggs in the kitchen. I don't know what my third sister likes to eat, so you can just cook whatever you like. If you don't want to cook, you can eat at a restaurant."
Yang's mother's face was as long as a donkey's.
