The Xu family enjoyed a few days of peace.
These past few days, Shen Jingyan and Xu Yatong have gone to the police station twice more to cooperate with the investigation.
Officer Liu personally received them each time.
Officer Liu is a very upright and responsible police officer.
"Comrade Xu, Comrade Shen, the relatives of those petty thugs have been released. We have criticized and educated them, and they have also made a written promise to ensure that they will not disturb your family's normal life."
Xu Yatong and Shen Jingyan were very grateful for Officer Liu's efforts.
Officer Liu personally escorted the two to the door.
"Comrades, I have other matters to attend to and cannot see you off any further. Please take care on your journey!"
As he spoke, he gave a military salute.
Even after walking onto the main road, Xu Yatong kept turning back to look at it several times.
"This Officer Liu is really dedicated."
Shen Jingyan noticed that her eyes were sparkling when she said this.
"Yes, Officer Liu looks about your age, right?"
Xu Yatong glanced at Shen Jingyan, blushing slightly: "Don't overthink it! If it were any other police officer, I would praise them too."
Shen Jingyan raised an eyebrow. Xu Yatong's words sounded a bit like she was trying to hide something.
Because the parents of those thugs had caused trouble, Shen Jingyan and Gu Zhiyun were worried about their family's safety and had been visiting the Xu family more frequently these past few days.
When she went out today, Shen Jingyan asked Gu Zhiyun to take Rui Rui with her to the Xu family for lunch.
The two got off the bus and ran into Xue Hongmei, who was returning from grocery shopping, at the entrance of the residential area.
"Sister Hongmei!" the two greeted as they followed Xue Hongmei.
"Jingya, Tongtong." Xue Hongmei nodded to the two of them.

The three of them had only walked a few steps side by side when the observant Shen Jingyan noticed that Xue Hongmei's condition was a bit off.
Her hair was a little messy, her clothes were covered in dust, and there were faint scratches on her neck.
"Sister Hongmei, how did your pants get torn?" Shen Jingyan asked.
Xue Hongmei's eyes darted away for a moment: "It's nothing, I just tripped and fell while I was walking."
That's not a very clever excuse. It might fool a child, but it's too lame to fool two adults.
“Sister Hongmei, we’re family. If something happens to you, you can’t keep it to yourself,” Xu Yatong said.
Shen Jingyan pointed out incisively: "Sister Hongmei, is it because those thugs' relatives are causing you trouble?"
Seeing that she could no longer hide the truth, Xue Hongmei revealed it:
"Oh, what bad luck! I went to buy groceries today and ran into two middle-aged women at the market. I recognized them; they were the ones who came to cause trouble. I even tried to chase them away with a broom, but they attacked me without saying a word. I ended up fighting with them, but luckily some acquaintances at the market pulled us apart."
Xue Hongmei said angrily, "Those people are so unreasonable! They were yelling about giving back their sons and hitting me really hard, but I didn't back down and scratched their faces."
Despite her gentle and kind appearance, Xue Hongmei is actually a very strong woman.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to raise her son to this age on her own.
Xue Hongmei's experience made Shen Jingyan realize that the Xu family's troubles had only just begun.
If a good method isn't found to completely intimidate these people, the Xu family will never have peace.
The three of them had just arrived at the Xu family's door when they heard the sound of glass shattering.
Immediately afterwards, a dark figure ran away quickly from beside the Xu family villa.
Without saying a word, Shen Jingyan took off after him.
Judging from his back, the man was probably a middle-aged man. He wasn't very agile and was caught up by Shen Jingyan in no time.
Without any hesitation, Shen Jingyan kicked him.
The middle-aged man screamed and fell to the ground.

Shen Jingyan went up and kicked him a few more times.
Upon seeing his face clearly, I realized he was one of the people who had caused trouble that day.
Still indignant, Chen Jingyan went up and kicked him a few more times: "If you're so capable, then reason with me openly and honestly. What kind of ability is it to resort to these underhanded tricks behind my back?"
The middle-aged man was beaten black and blue. Seeing how skilled Shen Jingyan was, he didn't even have the courage to utter a few curses.
Shen Jingyan had no intention of letting him go easily, so she picked him up and took him to the police station.
According to Officer Liu, he was only released yesterday.
A written promise is nothing but a piece of paper to this group of unreasonable people.
After handling the case, Officer Liu said apologetically, "I'm sorry, it's all because we didn't do our job well."
Chen Jingyan did not criticize the police.
After all, the capital city is so big, and the police station has to handle tens of thousands of cases every day; they can't possibly only take care of one family.

Xu Yatong looked at Officer Liu and suddenly realized something.
The peaceful life we've had for the past two weeks may not have come easily; it was thanks to Officer Liu personally patrolling the area and driving away those demons and monsters.
"Officer Liu, are you secretly protecting my family?"
Officer Liu didn't want to boast about his achievements because he considered this matter his duty.
“I’m just afraid that those people will cause trouble, so I come here to wander around whenever I have nothing to do.”
In fact, Officer Liu has been coming to the vicinity of Xujia Community almost every day for the past two weeks, sometimes patrolling until late at night.
During that time, he saw many people who wanted to cause trouble, and they were all frightened by him.
Over time, no one dared to come anymore.
Even so, Officer Liu still comes every day; it's become a habit.
